Get Happy With The Happy’s! #TheHappys

TheHappys Have you seen The Happy’s?  The Happy’s are the newest plush, motorized toys from Cepia, the makers of popular Zhu Zhu Pets.  We were sent a few of these adorable animals to host a party for our friends.  Our party kit also included supplies to make animal ears headbands, too.  All the girls had such a fun time deciding on what animal they wanted to be and creating their animal ears headbands.

We received Bentley, Chance, Sport, and Mittens and they were all soft and cuddly.  Each one came with it’s own interactive Happy Treat remote control.  When you aim the remote at the Happy’s pet and press the button, the pet will do whatever trick is written on the remote control such as beg, chase it’s tail, and wiggle.  Each Happy Treat remote control works with all of the other Happy’s pets so we learned quickly that the kids had to spread out a little or take turns aiming their remotes at the pets or their remotes would start to control their friends’ pets if they got too close.


When you aim your Happy Treat remote control at your pet and walk away it will follow you like a real pet.  The more Happy Treats remote controls you have, the more tricks your pet can do.  The kids had so much fun making their pets do tricks and follow them around the house.  They especially liked having races across the room with their Happy’s Pets.

The Happy's BallWe also received The Happy’s Chase and Play Ball.  When the ball is turned on any Happy’s Pet that is near it will start to follow it and chase the ball.  It was so cute watching one pet run across the room pushing the ball but when more then one pet was chasing the ball is when the real excitement began.  The Happy’s and their accessories are sure to be a hit with your kids.

EZ Paint- The Mess Free, Fun Way To Paint

Do your kids like to craft and paint but you don’t like the mess that is usually involved?  If so, I have the product for you.  EZ Paint looks like it would be a bottle of nail polish but it is non-toxic, washable paint that is so easy to use.  It comes with the brush right in the bottle so there is no set up.  No need to have a cup of water to rinse the brushes.  Just open the bottle and paint.  Plus EZ Paint is clean, too.  If you accidentally knock over the bottle it doesn’t spill.  Yes, I said it DOESN’T SPILL!!!  Now of course if you turn it upside down some of the paint will spill out but most of the mess from paint is when it gets accidentally knocked over.  No worry about that with EZ Paint.

EZ Paint comes in several different size packages that each include various colors of paint as well as adorable designed pages to paint.  My girls (and I) had such a good time painting our designs. If you run out of designs before you run out of paint you can also order more design pages.

Normally you can’t bring paint to play with to a doctor’s waiting area but with EZ Paint, you can take the paint with you.  My girls had an appointment and I decided to take EZ Paint with us to keep them busy while we waited.  The only “mess” was having to wait a few minutes for the the “wet” pictures to dry so we could take them home with us but they really dried pretty quickly so even that wasn’t a real “mess”.  Look at all of our beautiful creations: ez paint2

The gumball machine painting below is mine.  I have to say that it was quite therapeutic and relaxing to paint with EZ Paint.  It really is good for ages 3 to 103!

Monster Discipline Board Game Review and Giveaway

In the quest of better behavior and let’s be honest, my sanity, we’ve tried varies behavior plans with our girls.  We’ve tried everything from a token system, a point system, a reward and consequence system, and a ton of other things.  Everything works for a little while but then it gets hard to keep up with, we forget, it gets too complicated, or 101 other reasons and we stop doing it.  I was looking for a behavior tool that was easy to use but would work with my girls.  That’s when I found Monster Discipline.  Monster Discipline is great because it is a fun game that is easy to set up and play because it doesn’t take much time.  The best part is that my girls love it.  The game comes with the game board, magnetic playing pieces, a die, and a dry erase marker when you purchase the laminated game board like we have.  We used our own magnetic clips to hang it on our front door.

We set our game board up on our front door so we can easily access it every night on our way upstairs for our bedtime routine.  Our rules were already posted on our door so we put the game board on the other side and used magnets to keep it on the door.  I also added a magnetic cup on the side to keep the dice in as well as a few dry erase boards that we always keep on the door for messages, etc.

Families start by posting their family rules on the game board.  We already had family rules and expectations typed up so we just hung ours next to our game board.
rolls and points
Monster Discipline is a simple to follow board game.  Each day children start on Good Good which earns them 1 roll of the dice for the day.  If they are extra good for the day they can move up to Great Job or Excellent to earn extra rolls and bonus points.  If they break the rules they have to move their game piece down on the chart and lose their turn to roll, lose points, etc.  The purple and blue pieces pictured above didn’t come with the set.  The set came with smaller red, blue, green, and yellow game pieces but my girls wanted to use the light blue and purple magnets we already had on our refrigerator.

At the end of the day, each child get to roll the dice the number of rolls that they earned.  They then move their game piece the number of spaces on the game board equal to the number that they rolled on the dice and earn the number of points that is on the space they landed on.  The game comes with magnetic colored pieces to use as game pieces but we put our game board on our front door and the magnets had a hard time sticking to the parts of our door that were indented (the squares in the picture) so we use the dry erase marker to keep track of what spot each of our girls are on each day.  You can see the A and the D on our game board in the picture above.

There is a spot on the game board to keep track of how many points and how many bonus rolls each child had earned.  This is great for me because with other systems I would forget how many points, tokens, tickets, etc. my girls would earn.  Now there is nothing to forget!

Once children make it all the way around the game board and into the Treasure Chest area they get to use their points to pick a reward.  We let our girls come up with what they wanted their rewards to be so they would be more motivated to earn them.  I like that we are able to change the rewards if the girls decide they want to work for something else.  Usually children earn between 400-600 points per trip around the board so keep that in mind when assigning point values to rewards.

I’ll admit that I don’t know that much about Adventure Time.  Sure, I can name most of the characters but I really don’t “get it”.  I guess that’s because I’m the parent.  But it really doesn’t matter if I “get it” because my 10 year old daughter does and she loves it.  She was so excited when I told her that another Adventure Time game was coming out for her DS.  She loves the other Adventure Time DS game she has, Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! How many times have your kids asked you for a pet or more specifically a puppy?  My kids had asked us for a puppy for years before we finally decided to get Cooper, our lab mix puppy.  My husband and I had discussed all the added expenses of owning a dog, having to walk a dog, feed a dog, and of course leaving the house for more than 8 hours would be out of the question.  But children aged 5 and up don’t have to wait for a puppy of their own now with Zoomer- Your REAL Best Friend– Robotic Dog from Spinmaster.  With Zoomer there is no messy clean up, no need to spend money on food or vaccinations, and he’s a lot easier to take care of.   Don’t let that fool you into thinking this is just another mechanical walking dog toy.  With Zoomer children can still experience all the love and affection of a real puppy. Zoomer is the perfect pet for children that want a puppy but can’t because of allergies, they can’t have a pet where they live, or many other reasons.  Just like a real dog you’ll need to teach him everything a puppy needs to know.  Children can all his name, teach him lots tricks and watch how excited he gets when you reward him with a real good belly scratch.  My girls love when Zoomer gets excited and wags his tail just like our real dog does.  Zoomer is so smart that he can understand English, Spanish and French- Cooper only knows one language.  Zoomer can follow your movement with his puppy eyes.   There is even an app you can download for free for iOS or Android to learn everything there is to know about training Zoomer.  When you first start training Zoomer he might make some mistakes just like a real puppy but before you know it, he’ll be following all your commands like lay down, roll over, sit, and even go pee!   When you press the button on Zoomer’s back he will reward you with a random trick!   He’s all the fun of a family pet without the mess, vaccinations and responsibility.

We took Zoomer out of the box, used the included cable to charge his battery, and then he was ready to learn and play.  Zoomer is easy to play with.  Press his head and when you see the 2 question marks in his eyes, give him a command.  He does everything a puppy can do.  He scoots around, wags his tail, barks, whines, pants, and even speaks.   Just like a real puppy Zoomer has his own unique personality which can be unpredictable at times. Zoomer can get bored, fall asleep or wander off to explore, so make sure you keep him engaged.  With a little practice, you can even become a Master Zoomer Trainer. Just remember to be patient, because like a real puppy he might forget.  My girls both have fun working with Zoomer to teach him new tricks and they love when he explores and wiggles around our floor playing like a real dog.  Don’t worry Cooper, you’re not being replaced!

My girls love Moshi Monsters so they were excited to find out that Katsuma, the most popular Moshi Monster character now has his own game!  Moshi Monsters™: Katsuma Unleashed™ – the newest game in the best-selling series for Nintendo 3DS™ and Nintendo DS™ –is now available!  It stars Katsuma and is based on Moshi Monsters™, the popular interactive online world with 70 million registered users worldwide!

My 10 year old said she likes that this game is challenging.  You have 3 lives so if you lose all 3 lives you have to start over at the checkpoint of the level you are on.  This adds to the challenge.  She also likes that that are different types of “bad guys”.  Some move back and forth and some move up and down.  They are color coded by what they do so you know how they will act.  For example the red ones move back and forth.  On some of the levels there is a magic trail.  When you walk along the trail it turns into a blue path that is as long as the trail.  This special blue path prevents you from falling which she thinks is a cool feature.   Be careful of the grey characters that look like pufferfish.  They will explode when you get near them and will shoot grey spikes at you.  If you touch the spikes you will lose a life.  If you are a Moshi Monsters fan, you’ll love Moshi Monsters™: Katsuma Unleashed.

Flutterbye Fairy Product Review

Introducing the Flutterbye Fairy which was chosen by kids as one of Wal-mart’s Top 20 toys this holiday season.  My girls were so excited to receive a Flutterbye Fairy to review.  We installed the batteries into the base and charged up the fairy as directed on the instruction booklet.  Once our fairy was all charged up we switched her to the on position, pushed the button on her base, and up she flew.  Our first few test flights were a little rough.  She hit the ceiling and crash landed several times.  Luckily her head is made of a soft. spongy material that can take the bumps.  My girls were a little frustrated at first because they had a hard time flying their fairy without it hitting the ceiling but I had them stick with it.  I knew it would just take a little practice.  Once they got the hang of flying the fairy it was much easier.

They figured out the trick is to move your hand away from under the fairy when it is getting too close to the ceiling.  The fairy will then float down to them and they can put their open palm under the fairy again to send it back up in the air again and again.  Both of my girls said they are glad that they were patient and learned how to fly their Flutterbye Fairy easily.  Now they love playing with their fairy and having her fly around our house.  Even our dog, Cooper, likes to watch our Flutterbye Fairy flying through the air.  Just keep practicing and you’ll get the hang of it, too!
