Going to college can be an exciting time and you may even feel as though you have your whole life ahead of you as well. The problem that a lot of people experience when they go to college is that they find it hard to concentrate and they also find it difficult to stay focused during their studies as well.

Eat, Drink and Sleep

You probably think that you do this already. In college however, you may not do this properly. If your throat feels parched then make sure that you have a drink or if you know that your stomach is growling then have something to eat. Too often college students ignore things like this because they are too busy trying to study or even research. The problem is that if your stomach is constantly growling then you will probably find it hard to stay focused and if you are dehydrated then this will automatically reduce your level of concentration. For this reason, you need to have a small snack before you go to work and you also have to try and keep some water on-hand as well. This will really help you to make the most out of your study time and it will also help you to really learn more in any set period of time.

Limit Your Social Media Pages

If you have some bad internet habits then this may be tough for you to do. For a lot of college students checking things like Facebook or even Twitter can easily become a reflexive habit. If this sounds like you then you may find that you end up on social media every half an hour or so. You have to keep reminding yourself that you don’t need to check these sites every single time you logon to the internet and you also don’t want to lose track of time either. After all, nothing new is probably happening on there and all of the 10-minute breaks will add up over time.

Have your Own Goals

Think about it, what are your goals? Do you want to take an MBA online? Do you want to take extra homework classes? Do you want a specific job? By aligning these goals with the lifestyle that you have, you can easily put yourself in a position where it is much easier for you to achieve them. This is a fantastic way for you to make the most out of the time that you spend studying and it will also help you to stay way more focused as well. Little things like this can really make a difference to your concentration levels and it will also help you to deny those little temptations that you face on a regular basis as well.

Of course, staying focussed at university or college can be hard work but when you are able to think about the future and what it has in store for you, you can be sure to go on to achieve way better results.

Some girls love The Little Mermaid, some love Beauty and the Beast. Of all the Disney princesses, I’ve always loved Mulan. There is something about her bravery and fortitude that always appealed to me. I can’t wait to see how Disney makes one of my favorite movies into a live-action version.

BURBANK, Calif. (August 13, 2018)—Production on Disney’s “Mulan,” a live-action adaptation of the studio’s 1998 animated feature, has begun. The film will shoot on locations in New Zealand and China and will open in U.S. theaters on March 27, 2020.

Liu Yifei (“The Forbidden Kingdom,” “Once Upon a Time”) was cast as Hua Mulan following a year-long global casting search. Joining her in the film are: Donnie Yen (“Star Wars: Rogue One”); Jason Scott Lee (“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny”); Yoson An (“The Meg”); Utkarsh Ambudkar (“Pitch Perfect”); Ron Yuan (“Marco Polo”); Tzi Ma (“Arrival”); Rosalind Chao (“Star Trek: Deep Space Nine”); Cheng Pei-Pei (“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon”); Nelson Lee;  Chum Ehelepola; with Gong Li (“Memoirs of a Geisha,” “Raise the Red Lantern”) and Jet Li (“Shaolin Temple,” “Lethal Weapon 4”).

“Mulan” is the epic adventure of a fearless young woman who masquerades as a man in order to fight Northern Invaders attacking China. The eldest daughter of an honored warrior, Hua Mulan is spirited, determined and quick on her feet. When the Emperor issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army, she steps in to take the place of her ailing father as Hua Jun, becoming one of China’s greatest warriors ever.

“Mulan” is directed by Niki Caro (“Whale Rider,” “McFarland USA”) from a screenplay by Rick Jaffa & Amanda Silver (“Jurassic World,” “In the Heart of the Sea”) and Elizabeth Martin & Lauren Hynek based on the narrative poem “The Ballad of Mulan.” The producers are Jason T. Reed (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”), Chris Bender (“A History of Violence”) and Jake Weiner (“Criminal”) with Barrie M. Osborne (“The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King“), Bill Kong (“Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” “Monster Hunt”) and Tim Coddington (“Crazy Rich Asians”) serving as executive producers.

Disney’s animated feature, which was released in 1998, starred Ming-Na Wen, Miguel Ferrer and Eddie Murphy and was nominated for an Oscar® and two Golden Globe® Awards.

The story of the legendary warrior is one of China’s most popular folktales, and is still a part of the curriculum in Chinese schools today.

Is it November 21st yet?!?! I can’t wait to see the sequel to one of my favorite movies, Wreck-It Ralph. My family and I loved the first one and we’re so excited for the sequel, Ralph Breaks the Internet. Ever since I had the chance to go behind the scenes of the making of Wreck-It Ralph and try my hand at a Wreck-It Ralph recording session, this movie has had a special place in my heart.

Check out the new sneak peek of RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET, which introduces Gal Gadot (“Wonder Woman”) as the voice of Shank, the tough and talented driver in an intense online racing game called Slaughter Race, plus new footage of the Disney princesses and more!

Ralph and Vanellope encounter Shank when they venture into the internet in search of a replacement part for Vanellope’s game, Sugar Rush. Shank’s approach to racing—and life in general—opens Vanellope’s eyes to the limitless possibilities of the internet and the excitement of a new world that feels like home to her. RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET: WRECK-IT RALPH 2 arrives in theatres everywhere on November 21st!

My family and I love the live action Disney movies like Beauty and the Beast and Maleficent, so we are really hyped for The Nutcracker and the Four Realms. The images we’ve seen in the trailer are simply stunning!

Mackenzie Foy is Clara and Keira Knightley is the Sugar Plum Fairy in Disney’s THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS.

All Clara (Mackenzie Foy) wants is a key – a one-of-a-kind key that will unlock a box that holds a priceless gift. A golden thread, presented to her at godfather Drosselmeyer’s (Morgan Freeman) annual holiday party, leads her to the coveted key—which promptly disappears into a strange and mysterious parallel world. It’s there that Clara encounters a soldier named Phillip (Jayden Fowora-Knight), a gang of mice and the regents who preside over three Realms: Land of Snowflakes, Land of Flowers and Land of Sweets. Clara and Phillip must brave the ominous Fourth Realm, home to the tyrant Mother Ginger (Helen Mirren), to retrieve Clara’s key and hopefully return harmony to the unstable world. Starring Keira Knightley as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Disney’s new holiday feature film “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms” is directed by Lasse Hallström and Joe Johnston, and inspired by E.T.A. Hoffmann’s classic tale. Check out this amazing new trailer:

Going on vacation is not only fun, but it can also be an essential part of getting away from it all, de-stressing and enjoying life. It can also be an expensive endeavor, and you could easily spend thousands of dollars on a week away. You might see a vacation as an expensive luxury you can’t truly afford, or just feel reluctant to spend such a large amount of your hard-earned cash on something non-essential. However, if you’re clever and do your homework, you can have a dream vacation at a very reasonable price.

Price comparison sites

Your first port of call may well be one of the websites that search for all the deals available within your specified parameters. These sites definitely make the job of comparing costs a lot easier, and it is possible to obtain some very good prices. They also help you work out when will be the cheapest time to go to your preferred destination, and for many travelers, the information they provide is more than sufficient for finding a good deal on their vacation. There are a couple of things it’s useful to know, though. Firstly, the prices shown may not necessarily be the cheapest available, depending on the algorithms used by the comparison site to determine rankings. You could well find that by going directly to a provider you’ll get an even better deal, so it’s worth checking to find out if you could pay even less. Secondly, be wary of hidden costs that get added to the basic rate shown. You might be offered a hotel room for a bargain price, then find you have to pay surcharges, or that additional costs apply to make full use of the facilities.

Off-peak and late booking bargains

You’ll be surprised at the definition of off-peak when it comes to vacation resorts, as there are spring and fall breaks available at far lower prices than during the premium summer months. One trick that’s worth knowing about is going to ski resorts out of season. They may be best-known for their winter sports, but when there’s no snow, they still have fantastic facilities for outdoor pursuits, as well as all the apres-ski entertainments. For example, you can get some substantial discounts on Snowmass condos for rent in the aspirational Aspen resort – a taste of luxury at an affordable price. Leaving your booking until the last minute can save you hundreds of dollars, as operators try and sell accommodation and flights for whatever they can get rather than lose out altogether. The key to getting a bargain is to leave it as late as possible. If you try even a week before, you could find the providers are charging more rather than less.

It might take you a few hours to find the really sweet deals, but the savings you can make are so significant it’s worth taking the trouble. Combining your reduced travel costs with money-saving vouchers for local attractions will mean you get even more bang for your buck so that you can enjoy a special vacation for a fraction of the full price cost.

6 Tips for Managing a Pet as a Busy Mom

This post may contain affiliate links.
Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

Life with a family is one of the best experiences that you can have, but it can equally be demanding and get pretty busy! For this reason, it’s imperative that you try and stay organized as well as look for ways to stay on top of things. Every person’s home is unique, so what works to keep one person’s household sane may not necessarily work for you. Things can get a lot more difficult when you’re managing kids as well as an active and energetic pet. If this happens to be the story of your life, then you should think about ways to manage your pet in the midst of a busy schedule. On that note, you’re going to find six tips for managing a pet as a busy mom below.

Create a Schedule

One of the first things that you can do for yourself if you have a pet as a busy mom is to create a daily schedule. This is key as it helps you know what you’re doing and when you’re doing it as opposed to continuously feeling overwhelmed. Some tips for creating a schedule or routine that works for you include writing down all of the things you typically do on a daily basis which could include ones that are related to the kids, domestic chores, meals, work, and of course your pet. You can then create a schedule and break it into three sections which consist of morning, midday and evening. Once you’ve done this, proceed to add some flexibility, putting your routine together, and then testing its effectiveness. If you find that irrespective of writing things down you find it hard to stick to your schedule, perhaps make better use of your gadgets by downloading an app that helps remind you of what to do and when to do it throughout the day.

Ensure They’re Well Trained

Another thing you can do which should help you manage a pet as a busy mom is to ensure that your pet is well trained. It is especially key for people with dogs and cats as they can be trained with patience and effort. Training your pets is so important as by doing so, you are more likely to be able to mitigate the risks of accidents, destructive behavior, and mess around the house. Some basic things that you can train your pet to do include sitting, standing, using the bathroom in the right places, coming, as well as going. It should ensure that they’re easier to manage and take a great deal of stress off of your shoulders.  Some training tips if you happen to have a dog include rewarding behaviors you like, making sure behaviors you don’t like aren’t rewarded, understanding how your dog learns, as well as controlling consequences effectively. Doing these things should also ensure that your pet can be left with others and taken to public places without too much of a hassle.

Get the Right Accessories

Depending on the kind of pet that you have, accessories can also be very important. They help to ensure that your pet is well taken care of and easier to manage which can ultimately save you time and reduce your stress levels. If, for instance, you have a dog, then getting a bark collar like the one on dogable.net could go a long way to helping ensure they don’t bark too much, cause you and the neighbors sleepless nights, and put the whole house in disarray.  Some of the best accessories for pets include bathtubs, water bowls, metal crates, beds, coats, litter boxes, food bowls, monitoring devices, grooming kits, and odor eliminators to mention a few.

Stock up on Food

In addition to the tips mentioned above, another tip for managing pets as a busy mom is to stock up on food for your pet. It is likely that you see your pet as another member of your household which means they will eat just as frequently or perhaps even more than everyone else in the house does. You should, therefore, create a list of food items as well as a feeding schedule for them if possible. Once you have a type of schedule for how often they will eat and what those items are, you can go to the store and stock up on a month’s supply of food or more if you can afford it. Doing so would ultimately mean fewer trips to the store to buy your pet food which again, saves you a great deal of time. You may also find that by buying in bulk, you’re able to get tangible discounts as well. Another alternative is to make organic homemade pet food which consists of ingredients like chicken, peas, green beans, yams, and dry milk if you have dogs or cats.

Keep Them Engaged

If you want to be able to juggle motherhood, work, and your pet, then keeping them engaged is key as well. Typically, one of the easiest ways to do so is by getting them a range of different toys. You should try and ensure these toys come in different shapes, sizes, textures, colors, and scents if you truly want to keep them busy. You can also take them on walks, for exercise, and engage them in play when you have a few free moments to spare.

Allocate Tasks

If you have an extra set of hands in the house, why not allocate different tasks to ease the burden? You can get others to help with taking the pet for a walk, cleaning the litter, feeding, as well as bathing your pet. It should help ensure there’s a shared responsibility and you get a few moments a day to exhale.

The life of a busy mom often can’t be understood by anyone but that busy mom. For this reason, it’s imperative that you look for ways to make life easier for yourself by creating a schedule, making sure all hands are on deck when it comes to managing your pet, and thinking ahead. By doing so, you may find that your routine gets easier to manage and your days become a lot easier.

5 Plants and Flowers That Are Especially Toxic to Dogs

Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

There are few greater joys than sitting outside in the garden or a field while we watch our pets playing with their toys, chasing birds or insects, and rummaging through nice-smelling plants and flowers. Yet, dogs aren’t always satisfied with just smelling flowers, and it can be hard for them to resist the urge to have a nibble. Unfortunately, this can be dangerous as there are a high number of common UK plants and flowers that are toxic to our pets.

Pet experts James Wellbeloved have also identified a number of plants that are especially poisonous to dogs. Symptoms of poisoning can be fast-acting and include anything from sickness, weight loss and vomiting, to blood in the stool and sudden death. So, in the interest of keeping your dog safe, we recommend steering clear from the following toxic flowers and plants.

1. Azaleas

While Azaleas are far from being the most poisonous flower, dogs have a real affinity for them because of their nice smell. These common garden plants can be hard to avoid if they have been planted in a nearby park that you and your dog like to frequent. Fortunately, symptoms normally just include mild sickness and most dogs make a full recovery.

2. Grape Vine

While the vine isn’t a healthy meal for any dog, grapes are especially toxic. Just a few nibbles can lead to long-term urinary difficulties and even acute kidney failure, which can be life-threatening if not treated by a vet right away.

3. Hyacinths

While as common and as attractive as Azaleas, Hyacinths are much more toxic, also. Most dogs only tend to ingest small amounts of these plants, as the symptoms (vomiting and irritation in the mouth and throat) begin before they can eat too much. However, certain breeds, including Labradors, like to dig up and eat whole plants as quickly as possible, meaning they experience more severe side-effects.

4. Ivy

Although ivy is just as toxic to cats, dogs are the more likely pet to try and eat the poisonous leaves and berries. If your dog consumes parts of an ivy plant, you should see your vet immediately, as symptoms can be sudden and include falling into a coma.

5. Potatoes

An increasing number of us are taking to growing fruit and vegetables. However, if you are a dog owner, you need to be careful about which plants you grow. Every part of the potato plant is poisonous to dogs and, because they grow in the ground, they are easy for dogs to reach and dig up. If you want to grow potatoes, make sure to secure them with a fence that your dog cannot pass.

While these are just some of the common plants which are poisonous to dogs, don’t let this article scare you. Some dogs are more prone to eating plants than others, and most dog owners don’t need to worry. However, to keep your dog healthy, and to give yourself peace of mind, do your best to watch your dog around these plants. And, if your dog presents any symptoms of poisoning, it is safest to assume they have eaten something bad for them and to visit the vet right away. My friends’ dogs ate a toxic plant about 6 months ago. Her dogs weren’t expected to survive but because she got them to the vet right away, they were able to pump their stomachs and give them charcoal to stop the effects of the toxin. Thankfully they are all doing well now.

Planning A Vacation- Five Cities You Should Visit

It is often said that “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and this is true for many things. Making a list of the most beautiful cities in the world will undoubtedly be very hard. Not only do we find different things stunning, but we all have visited different places and hence, will have different experiences to draw from, when making a choice. Nevertheless, there are places that a majority of people will find interesting, beautiful and well worth a visit. Each city will have its own charm and uniqueness, giving the city its identity.

Prague

Not many people go to the Czech Republic’s capital and come back disappointed. It is a stunning city, situated by the river Vltava. Often called the city of a hundred spires, its extensive historic centre is included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage sites. There is no lack of atmosphere in the city centre, and all the sites are close enough to enjoy on foot. The most popular attraction in Prague is its castle. The Prague Castle stands above the historic town on a hill, and just so happens to be the largest ancient castle in the world. In the courtyard stands St. Vitus Cathedral, the most amazing building with a fantastic painted glass window. Back down in the historic district, you will find the Old Town. In the Old Town square, the Church of Our Lady Before Tyn and the Town Hall are not to be missed. The Jewish quarters will give you a fascinating account of the history of the Jews in Prague and you will be able to visit numerous stunning synagogues.

Machu Picchu

Once you travel on Machu Picchu Tours every other experience or adventure you have will be compared to the time you strolled the ancient Incan ruins of Peru. There is more speculation than there are Llamas in Peru about the purpose of and motivation behind the construction of Machu Picchu. However, one of the most exciting and quite literally breathtaking experiences of Machu Picchu is perched just behind, it’s named Huayna Picchu.

Obviously the ruins are the main spectacle and the reason everyone makes their way to the tourist trap of Aguas Calientes. Huayna Picchu is most easily described as the large peak in the background of the ‘postcard shot’ of Machu Picchu but is, rather ironically, over-shadowed by Machu Picchu. The dizzying heights offer an unrivalled almost aerial view of the ruins and allow one to put the ruins in context amongst the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Paris

The City of Lights, or love as many romantics prefer to call the capital of France, is an amazing place. Situated by the river Seine, Paris has an endless list of attractions for every visitor. The picture perfect white fairytale-like Sacre Coeur Basilica dominates the area of Montmartre, and from here you will get breathtaking views of the city. The iconic Eiffel tour gives the skyline an edge, and the pretty cathedral of Notre Dame will impress even the harshest critic. Take a walk along the Champs-Elysees or stroll along the river Seine. Paris also makes for an ideal place to have a picnic. There are plenty of green areas, gardens and parks to sit down and soak up the French ambiance.

San Francisco

Although not at strikingly pretty as the European cities, San Francisco has its own charm. The historic trams that cross the city gives San Francisco uniqueness and are a popular pastime for tourists. The Bay area is beautiful, and the iconic Golden Gate Bridge really glimmers and glistens in the sun. The skyline of San Francisco is one of the most beautiful in the world, and a great way to get a good look is to take a river cruise or go out to Alcatraz on an evening tour. There are impressive buildings in the city but none as stunning as the Painted Ladies of Alamo Square. Well worth a trip, even if it is just for a photo. If you’re looking for advice on the best sites to see and places to go, Santa Barbara Travel offers expertise on traveling both domestically to places like San Francisco as well as many of the international destinations mentioned in this article.

Andorra la Vella

An unusual city is Andorra la Vella whose tiny country, Andorra, nestles between France and Spain in the Pyrenees mountains. If winter sports attract you then visit one of two resorts close to the capital for some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the Pyrenees. Or visit the famous Caldea, a spa and swim complex with natural thermal springs keeping a huge lagoon at a constant 89F. Andorra la Vella is perhaps best celebrated for its shopping – popular because tax and duty free! Andorra la Vella is the highest capital city in Europe, with its own ancient history, a picturesque beauty in the mountains and its own unique charm.

Going to some of these places might be a dream to many but until you have the opportunity to travel to some of your dream cities you could also consider updating some of the furniture and decor in your home to reflect some of the places you’d like to travel to. Click here for some ideas of creating an oasis in your own home.

Being pregnant is one of the most wonderful things, but it is far from a walk in the park. You need to prepare during your pregnancy so that your baby’s health is safeguarded and that you are personally ready to be the best parents you can be once he or she arrives. The better you prepare, the more you can focus on trying your best and learning how to take care of your new baby, instead of dealing with trying to catch up and finish the nursery while you already have your new baby at home.

Improve Your Health

If you want to give your baby the best start in life, you have to first improve your health. This will involve two steps: one, visit your doctor so that you can have tests done and improve your baseline health from the results. The second step will be to then take all prenatal vitamins and make the necessary lifestyle changes to better your health before you conceive. It means taking folic acid and other necessary vitamins, and it also means cutting out toxins like cigarettes in your daily life. Only once you’re in tip-top condition should you try to conceive. If you have already conceived, don’t wait. Visit your doctor and start these lifestyle changes and health improvements today. The last thing you want is for your baby to suffer because your health wasn’t up to par.

Get Your Home Ready

Once you have conceived, it’s time to get your home and life ready. This will need to be done both by getting all the furniture you need and by stocking up. To save money, choose second-hand furniture where you can and reusable items for your supplies. An example of reusable supplies includes items like the hybrid diapers that are available on thegreennursery.com, which are cloth diapers with disposable inserts which you can throw away. Not only will this let you save money and produce less waste, but it is also how you can ensure that your baby is only being touched by organic, pure materials.

Get Your Life Ready
There are so many ways you can prepare your life for your new arrival. To start, it is wise to take out a life insurance policy now and to update your will to include your baby. This way, if anything were to happen to you during the whirlwind first year of your new baby’s life, you can at least give them all that you can to help them, such as afford the college that they want to go to.

Other preparations will include getting your finances in order, starting a college fund, and of course notifying your employer. The more you prepare, the better the life you can provide for your child.

Everything should be in order so that when the day comes that you bring your new baby into your home, you should be able to focus entirely on taking care of your baby and yourselves, not struggling to get everything ready at the same time. Prepare now and reap the rewards later.

Choosing Vacations the Whole Family Can Enjoy

Planning a vacation when you have children involves a whole new set of considerations. Not only do you have yourself and your other half to think about, but you now have one or more kids who may have very different ideas of what constitutes the ideal trip away. Having a couple of kids who are close in age but like highly diverse activities is difficult enough, but it gets even harder if you have kids with an age gap. After all, toddlers and teens rarely want to do the same things! If you want to book a vacation you can all enjoy, have a look at these options.

Mountain towns and leisure resorts

One way to ensure you will be able to keep everyone happy is to stay at a leisure resort that gives you access to a variety of activities all in close proximity. For example, if you visit a mountain town resort, you have facilities such as swimming pools, spas, shopping, cinemas, and so on, right next to thousands of acres of trails and a range of outdoor sports and activities. You’ll find that ski resorts like Deer Valley in Utah transform into first-class summer vacation destinations, where you can stay in one of the hotels on Main Street in Park City and take advantage of being adjacent to both the town and the wilds.

Cruises

Going on a cruise is perfect for families because there are so many activities on board the ship to cater to everyone’s tastes, plus you will be visiting new and interesting places every day or so. Onboard entertainment may include the shows and cabarets for which cruising is best known, but there are plenty of alternatives, such as sports facilities, a gym, swimming pool, cinema, shops, a library, and of course, there are the fine dining and twenty-four-hour buffets on most ships. The kids will very likely find other children to play with, and if you select your trip carefully, you will find there’s a good choice of child-oriented entertainment too. Choosing a themed vacation where you get to visit a range of interesting places means everyone should be able to find a location that they will enjoy, and living on a ship is always a great adventure for kids.

Glamorous camping

Or glamping, as it’s better known, is a perfect compromise between all-out camping and staying in a luxury cabin. That means the adventurous ten-year-old who wants to experience the thrill of living under canvas and exploring the wilderness can satisfy their desires, while the fourteen-year-old who hates the thought of sleeping with bugs and not having a hairdryer can retain the feeling of being somewhere more civilized. Glamping sites are the ideal combination of being close to nature without giving up your home comforts.

You might not be able to keep everyone happy all the time, but if you all get a turn participating in your favorite activities and no-one has to make any unpleasant sacrifices, you’ll find the trip will be a happy experience for the whole family!
