Did you ever wonder what it was like to work with Walt Disney? Or what it was like to be a part of a classic Disney movie? During our trip to Los Angeles last week we had the unique opportunity last week to interview with 2 of the original voices from the movie. Disney Archivist Becky Cline moderated as interviewed  Donald “Donnie” Dunagan (young voice of “Bambi”) and Peter Behn (young voice of “Thumper”). We also interviewed  Paul Felix, Visual Development Artist at Walt Disney Animation Studios who was inspired by Tyrus Wong (animator on Bambi).

Here are the top things we learned:

~Hand-drawn Artwork and Attention to Detail

Talent_WEB_017Photo credit- BAMBI Disney archive image

Bambi was released in 1942 during World War II. It took over 5 years to make due to its exquisite hand-drawn artwork and attention to detail. Paul Felix told us how the studio went on strike and moved during the time Bambi was being made which also delayed the project. It was supposed to come out after Snow White but ended up coming after Pinocchio and Fantasia. They had to cut some of the movie out and only do what they could afford at the time. Paul also told us that one important thing that Disney animators of the time had to learn to do was learn how to create animals with faces that could emote dialog. A good example of this is comparing how lifelike and realistic the deer in Bambi are compared to the deer in Snow White that are stiff and don’t have much life to them.

~The Zen of Bambi

paul felix 2
Paul Felix shared with us how he feels Bambi is special because the themes are so broad. It deals with the reality of the world and has a zen-like simplicity that is profound. He also went on to talk about how the movie is so powerful even today because it shows how the connection between mother and child is so primal and relatable.

~There Were No Auditions For Thumper

BAMBI Disney archive image

Peter Behn’s father was a screenwriter in the 1920’s. He knew Walt Disney and brought Peter in to audition for the voice of Bambi but Donnie beat him out. They didn’t think his voice was right for Bambi but they thought his voice was right for “the rabbit” character. They never held auditions for Thumper, as they knew Peter was right for the part. He was only 4 years old at the time and the tender age of 5 when he voiced his character.

~Donnie Dunagan Knew What He Wanted As a Boy

donnie dunagan mickeyPhoto credit- BAMBI Disney archive image

Donnie Dunagan grew up dirt poor and his family entered him in a talent contest when he was 4 years old. In the contest he danced with a paper bag hat and a stick from a tree to the song, A Tisket A Tasket. He won and caught the eye of a talent scout! He went on to be a child actor at the age of 5 years old. He did lots of films as a child, 7 before the age of 5 1/2 years old, but when is agent told him not to take the role of Bambi he fired his agent. Talk about a boy who knew what he wanted!

~Peter Behn Only Saw Bambi Once In His Youth

Talent_WEB_023Photo credit- BAMBI Disney archive image
Peter Behn saw Bambi at the premiere and then didn’t see it again for a long time. I hadn’t thought about it before but back in those days they didn’t have DVDs, VHS tapes, or Netflix so movies were just seen in theaters when they came out.

~Commanding Officer Bambi

Talent_WEB_025Photo credit- BAMBI Disney archive image

Donnie went on to become a commanding officer in the Marine Corp but he didn’t tell anyone about his role in Bambi. He was afraid they would tease him- “My commanding officer is Bambi!” He didn’t even tell his wife about his role in Bambi when they were first married. It took her finding an old box of memorabilia and fan letters for Donnie to tell his wife all about his Disney past.

~A True Leader

When asked about what it was like to work with Walt Disney Donnie said that Walt was very helpful, a true leader. He was not a feared boss but instead a very hands on leader who was approachable and helped everyone.

~Recording The Voices

The voices were recorded first and then the artwork was created based on the recordings. The audio was transcribed with a needle on a plastic device because they didn’t have the digital technology like they do today.

~”Your Mother Is In Trouble”

bambi momPhoto credit- BAMBI Disney archive image
To get Peter to say his lines the director would read the lines and Peter would mimic him with inflection because he was too young to read the lines well. When Donnie was recording the scene where Bambi’s mother dies the director thought that Donnie sounded too happy and not sad enough. He told Donnie to pretend “Your mother is in trouble. Call your mother!”

~Bambi’s Legacy Lives On Today

flowerPhoto credit- BAMBI Disney archive image
Peter shared with us how Walt Disney was ahead of his time in protecting the environment as shown in Bambi. This speaks to his forward thinking and awareness of environmental issues. The legacy of Bambi still lives on today.

~Bambi is Forever

fansPhoto credit- BAMBI Disney archive image
The most touching part of our interview was when Donnie shared with us, with a quivering voice and tears in his eyes, that Bambi is forever. He showed us the letters he still receives from children from all over the world.

~Advice For Aspiring Animators

While Paul Felix is known for designing settings over characters he said anyone interested in becoming an animator should draw from life, draw both buildings and people. Try painting with watercolors and create a mood with colors. Don’t limit yourself. Learn art history to ground yourself in art and design.

Disclosure- I was invited by Disney to attend this all expense paid press trip but all opinions are 100% my own.

potc premiere 2Last week I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Los Angeles premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man Tell No Tales. The movie was amazing, the best one in the franchise yet in my opinion. I’ll tell you more in a bit but first let’s talk red teal carpet. Dolby premiereI have attended several red carpet premieres with Disney in the last few years but they have all be at the El Capitan Theater. This one was different because it was at the Dolby Theatre- where the Oscars take place. Yes, I was in the same theatre where all the stars gather for the Oscars! Of course it was so much fun getting to dress up. I even had on my black pearls in honor of The Black Pearl. 😉potc premiereThe night started with walking down the teal carpet and of course taking lots of pictures. Walking the carpet was lots of fun with tons of pirates, stilt walkers, jugglers, and plenty of photo opps. It was a festive atmosphere with pirate themed music and everyone was having a jolly good time.

Juggler on carpetHere I am posing with a juggler as he tossed pins right next to me.juggler

Once we entered the Dolby Theatre we were met with 4 floors of food, drinks, and activities. There was plenty of pirate themed things including the table decor. Skull on tableThere was lots for guests to do. My friends and I had fun walking around and taking it all in. They had a make your own treasure chest station, several photobooths, and even airbrush tattoo stations. My favorite activity was the makeup station where they had makeup artists touch up our makeup. Thank you LORAC!

makeup Thanks, Week99er for taking this beautiful picture of me getting my lipstick touched up.

Another exciting part of going to an L.A. movie premiere is rubbing elbows with celebrities and this premiere was no different. Here are a few celebrities that we took pictures with.

starsFrom left to right- Gilles Marini (Brothers and Sisters/Sex and the City), John Voight (Mission Impossible/Transformers), Adam Brown (Pirates of the Caribbean) and Martin Klebba (Pirates of the Caribbean)

so close When the party was over we made our way to our seats to watch the movie. To our surprise some of the cast and directors came out on stage right before the movie started. Look how close I was to the stars of the movie when they took the stage. That’s me in the 3rd row. I was breathing the same air as Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom. Swoon!!!!

POTC PosterAre you excited to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales? I really loved the movie and can’t wait to take my family to see it this weekend. It comes out May 26th just in time for Memorial Day weekend. In this 5th installment Captain Jack Sparrow is being hunted by villain Captain Salazar who is seeking revenge on Jack for taking everything from him years earlier. We get to see a young Jack in a flashback and it is amazing how the special effects team made Johnny Depp look so young.

The special effects are also incredible as they make Captain Salazar’s hair seem to float around him. Another favorite thing in this movie for me are the ghost pirates and ghost sharks. Ghost pirates and a ghost shark, what’s not to love, right? We interviewed several members of the cast as well as the directors so keep an eye out for upcoming posts to learn more about the making of the movie.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales has something for everyone. Of course like the other Pirates of the Caribbean movies it has lots of action and swashbuckling adventure. And as usual it has Captain Jack Sparrow’s rum fueled antics and witty remarks.

We get to meet new characters like Henry Turner, the son of Will Turner and Elizabeth Swan, and Carina Smyth, the smart, spunky astronomer who shows the men in the movie just how smart and strong a woman can be.  We learn a little more of Jack’s history and the origin of his name. This movie also has a lot of heart. You might even shed a tear or two during the movie like I did. Let me know what you think when you see it.

As many of you know I had gastric sleeve surgery a little over a year ago. I know I’ve been bad at keeping with with posting about my weight loss and I apologize for that. I am now down about 80 pounds.  I sometimes forget how far I’ve come until I see pictures of where I started. A friend of mine encouraged me to compare pictures of me on the red carpet in the past with my red carpet picture from this premiere so I wanted to share the comparison with you. If you’re thinking of having gastric sleeve and would like to know more about my experiences, please feel free to contact me.

Just Breathe: Improving Your Physical, Mental And Emotional Health

This post may contain affiliate links.
Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

Spring is finally merging into summer, and as the seasons change a lot of us find ourselves feeling in need of making a few changes. Here are a few tips on how you can improve your physical, mental and emotional health this summer…

Your Physical Health

Get In Shape

First of all, it’s time to get in shape. Forget everything you’ve been told about developing a bikini body for the beach this summer – let’s face it, if you have a body and it’s in a bikini then that’s all you need! Instead, focus on the way that you feel. Being strong and being able to run after your toddler without getting out of breath and noticing that you’re getting stronger and more supple so your balance is better – all those things are much more important and invaluable than what exactly you weigh. If you don’t usually walk around much then now might be the time to make that change – leave the car at home when you pick your kids up from school or the bus stop in the evenings and give the environment a break as well!

Start A Class

pexels-photo-260445Image source

If you’ve never gone to a fitness class, now might just be the time to start. No one’s saying that you immediately have to start a rigorous schedule of circuit training, but if you find it hard to run on a treadmill without getting bored then a class might be a much better option for you. You could learn to swim better or even do a water fitness class at your local pool – those might be great options if you’re a little overweight because the water will support your weight and prevent your joints from getting sore or injured. If you want to focus on strengthening your core muscles then pilates might be a good fit for you, while yoga is great for anyone who wants to get flexible and supple. If you’re more of an active person, try out zumba and dance the night away as you do aerobics to Latin music.

Start Cooking From Scratch

If you’ve never been in the habit of cooking your meals from scratch, now is the time to start. A lot of pre-packaged food tends to contain a lot of additives, along with added sugar that you really don’t need in your diet – not only will it destroy your energy levels but it also isn’t very good for your teeth. If you have any dietary requirements or you simply want to know what exactly is in your food, it’s a good idea to start cooking it from fresh yourself. Go for fresh fruits and vegetables along with free range meat – it might be a bit more expensive but ethically it’s definitely worth it!

Eat Breakfast

pexels-photo-236813Image source

If you’re looking for one tip about how to eat more healthily, this is it: start eating breakfast. A lot of people completely skip the most important meal of the day and just go for coffee instead but the truth is that if you want to eat healthily for the rest of the day, it’s important to start well with your breakfast. Go for wholewheat toast with smashed avocado and a poached egg, or maybe peanut butter and sliced banana if you’re in a hurry. Granola with fresh berries and natural yoghurt is both tasty and good for you, and if you really aren’t a breakfast person then you could always make a smoothie that you can sip at your desk at work.

Your Mental Health

Watch Out For Mental Health Issues
dawn-nature-sunset-womanImage
source

A lot more people suffer from mental health issues than you might expect. There is definitely still a bit of a stigma surrounding mental health problems like depression, anxiety and OCD and the only way that we can remove that stigma is by talking about mental health issues more. You might think that depression means that you feel sad all the time or that you can’t stop crying, and those things can definitely be symptoms of it – but other symptoms can include feeling angry or annoyed, or simply feeling empty and as though you aren’t taking as much pleasure in your favourite things as you used to. If you think you might be suffering from depression, go and talk to your doctor – it isn’t anything at all to be ashamed of.

Go To A Therapist

Therapy doesn’t have to be just for people who suffer from mental health problems or who have had bad things happen to them, although it can definitely help people living in those circumstances. It can also work excellently for anyone who just wants to work on their coping mechanisms, meaning that they’ll be more equipped to handle whatever life decides to throw at them. Going to therapy means that if something bad does happen to you, you’ll find it a lot easier to deal with

Practice Self Care
pexels-photo-171296Image
source

Finally, it’s important to make sure that you take care of yourself. Self care doesn’t mean telling yourself that you don’t have to go to work because you feel sad or buying too many pairs of shoes because you’re in a bad mood. It means making yourself go out to see your friends even though you might not feel like it, because in the end it’s the best thing to do. It means making yourself eat salad even though you don’t feel like it, because your body will thank you for it in the end, and learning grounding techniques for when you’re unhappy and wound up. It means taking a shower even if you don’t want to, going for a walk, getting up off your sofa. Self care means doing the things for yourself that you need to and that will make you feel better in the long term as well as in the short term.

Your Emotional Health

See Your Friends
pexels-photo-48660Image
source

It’s important that you make sure that you get out of your house and that you socialise as much as you can. No one’s trying to force you to be a social butterfly if you really aren’t that kind of person. But you need to be aware that maintaining friendships can take time and effort, and even if you don’t feel like it, you need to drag yourself off the sofa after work and out to a restaurant to have dinner with your best friend. In the end, you’ll be glad that you’ve done it – and seeing your friends is often like a form of therapy because you can all talk about what’s going on in your lives. It might just make you feel less alone to hear and see that other people have similar problems to the ones that you have too.

Cut Out The Dead Weight

If you have any relationships in your life that simply aren’t going anywhere, you now have permission to end them and get them out of your life. Remember that your time is a precious and valuable thing and you shouldn’t be wasting it on anyone who simply doesn’t deserve it. If you have a partner who doesn’t treat you as well as they should, you need to end the relationship as soon as you can – your partner should be a support to you and make sure that you feel good about yourself. It needs to be a loving and mutual relationship and if that isn’t what you’re getting, it’s time for it to be over. Likewise, if your friends simply aren’t as supportive as they should be, think about it hard and try to decide whether your years of friendship are still worth it. Remember: nothing is a failure simply because it ended.

Focus On Your Professional Life

If you feel dissatisfied in your day to day professional life, now is the time to make some changes in that arena. Talk to your boss about increasing your wages at your next annual review so that you feel you’re getting paid fairly for your work. If you dislike the job itself then it could be time to start looking for something that you find more rewarding. A lot of people who work at charities and non-profits might get paid a little less, but they know their work is valuable.

Do What You Love
pexels-photo-198993Image
source
Finally, it’s time to start to focus on yourself and to start doing what you love. A lot of us start telling ourselves that we’ll do what we want at some point in the future – we’ll write those novels, we’ll learn Spanish, we’ll go on a dating website and finally find the loves of our lives. But let’s face it – if you keep putting things off, then the time will never come and you’ll be left with a lot of regrets. Everyone has enough time for the things that they really care about so it’s time to prioritise what you really want to do. Get a babysitter so you can start to go to painting classes, and book that holiday in India, and start to learn how to make French pastry. The time is now, and if you don’t go for what you want you’ll only regret it.

Quick Recovery From Serious Injury & Illness

Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

There are few things worse than suffering a sudden bout of illness, or experiencing some considerable injury. When this happens, it can often be enough to make people genuinely depressed, or to at least frustrate them. If this has happened to you recently, then you might want to think about what you can do to make the best of a bad situation. As it happens, there are usually a number of things you can do, and as long as you know what your options are, you should at least feel considerably less worried about it all. Let’s take a look at the different aspects of experiencing such an unfortunate incident one by one.

pexels-photo-251287Image Source

Financial

Although money might not be the first thing you think about, you have to admit that it is a big part of suffering any kind of serious injury. This is often simply due to the fact that you might need to take the time off work in order to recover from your injury or illness. This alone can mean you are in financial trouble, but you might also have hospital bills and so on to pay as well. Whatever the situation, it is worth looking into whether or not you are eligible for any kind of compensation. You can find lawyers for any personal injury issue, so you don’t have to worry about not knowing what you are doing. Besides, if you can successfully claim compensation you should find that the whole experience is much less worrying.

Physical

Obviously enough, any kind of injury or illness is going to affect you mostly physically. If you are suffering from a particularly bad case of something, then it can often be quite upsetting, frustrating or even exhausting. Sometimes it can be worrying not exactly knowing when you can expect any kind of recovery. Either way, it is essential that you do everything you can to help yourself recover as fast as possible. This could mean taking the necessary time off work, allowing yourself to rest, or visiting the doctor to see what their professional opinion is. Whatever is necessary, make sure that you are doing it if you want to recover as soon as possible.

doctor-medical-medicine-health-42273 (1)Image Source

Mental

Being ill or having an injury can also often affect you psychologically. When tis happens, it can make the whole experience much more difficult. There is nothing worse than having to deal with the psychological as well as physical pain of an injury or illness. However, if you do find this being an issue, try to keep calm and carry out simple activities to keep your mind busy. This should help you to get through to the other side without too much hassle, and that will men that the whole situation is much easier to deal with on the whole. It could be that you need some help from your loved ones to remain positive in mind, in which case be sure to ask for it when it is necessary.

Give Your Home Buyer Appeal

If you want to have buyers flocking to your doorstep the second the all-important for sale sign goes up, before you do anything else, you need to improve the appearance of your home from the outside in.

Most people will spend some time improving the inside of our property before we put it on the market, and that’s important for sure, but fewer people ever bother to do any DIY on the outside of our homes before they go on sale. This is a big mistake because, after all, first impressions are important and the first thing buyers will see isn’t your expensive kitchen or comfy lounge it’s the building itself.

Here are a few things you can do to give your home buyer appeal from the second they set eyes on it:

Repaint the Front Door

The front door is one of the first things buyers will see and get up close with, that means that it needs to look good. If the paint on your door is peeling, or simply painted an unappealing color, it will put people off, so add a new coat of paint, and perhaps a shiny new handle or knocker to start things off right.

Install Siding

2731857050_7bde207285_zImage source

If you have a decent budget to bring your house up to standard before you sell, you might want to consider home siding installation as an option. It, more than almost anything else will have your home looking as good as new, which will attract buyers from far and wide. If your home already has siding, before you sell, ensure that you thoroughly clean it with a power washer, to stop it appearing old and grimy.

Tidy Up the Garden

If the garden is unkempt, it’s only natural for buyers to think that maybe the rest of the house will be in a similar state of disrepair, which along with the work it’ll take to get the garden looking good, could put them off even seeing your home. So, roll up your sleeves, pull up the weeds, mow the lawn and get the garden at least looking tidy.

Light the Way

4435613523_8c010fd1ba_zImage source

If you’re going to have people viewing your property in the evenings, it might be a good idea to install a couple of lanterns on either side of the front door. They’ll help to light their way, and the soft light will make the whole house, including the garden, look a little bit more magical.

Clean the Windows

Dirty windows might not equal a dirty home and a lack of maintenance, but buyers don’t know that, so if you don’t want them to make negative judgments about your home before they get through the door, keep on top of your window cleaning duties inside and out.

Create an Impressive Entrance

Finally, do your best to create an impressive entrance to your property, whether that be installing a pretty wrought iron fence, ensuring that your wall is in good condition, or lining the driveway with lots of pretty trees, this will make your property more inviting to potential buyers, making it easier for you to sell your home.

Have you sold your home recently? Did you update your exterior to attract buyers?

Bone Idle? The Importance Of Exercise And Other Tips For Strong, Healthy Bones

This post may contain affiliate links.
Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

Be honest. Do you do enough exercise, or are you one of those people who counts a daily workout as the walk from the car park or the train station to the office? Most of us know that inactivity is harmful to our hearts, but did you know that being bone idle can also have a negative impact on the condition of your bones? Here are some tips to help you ensure your bones are as strong and healthy as possible.

The benefits of exercise

You tend to think about burning fat and building muscle tissue when you work out, but regular exercise can also be incredibly beneficial for your bones. Just as physical activity strengthens your muscles, it can also make your bone tissue more resistant to damage. If you exercise on a regular basis, your risk of injury decreases and you’re less likely to sustain serious problems if you fall. Exercise improves your coordination, stamina, and balance, all of which make you less susceptible to slips and trips. Your bone tissue goes through cycles. When you’re young, the bones develop relatively quickly, and as you age, you lose bone density. This is why older people are at greater risk of osteoporosis or brittle bones.

All forms of exercise can be beneficial for your bones, but some are more effective than others when it comes to strengthening the bone tissue. Weight-bearing exercises are recommended by trainers and doctors. They make the bones work harder to support your body weight. Examples include lifting weights, walking, and dancing. If you do have weak bones, it’s best to avoid high-impact exercises like jumping.

The importance of your diet

Calcium and vitamin D are the key players when it comes to bone health. To prevent deficiencies and reduce your risk of osteoporosis, ensure that you get enough vitamin D and calcium from your diet. Good sources include leafy green vegetables, dairy products, nuts, and tofu. If you already have signs of osteoporosis, your doctor may recommend taking supplements to boost your calcium intake and increase bone strength. Before you add supplements to your diet, do your homework and check out pages online like AlgaeCal reviews. Ask your doctor for advice before changing your diet and combine healthy eating with targeted exercises. You may wish to work with a physical therapist or an experienced personal trainer to design a fitness plan that will complement your new diet.

pexels-photo-236010Image credit

Smoking and drinking

Smoking and drinking more than the recommended intake of alcohol are risk factors for osteoporosis. People who smoke are likely to have weaker bones than non-smokers and alcohol affects your body’s ability to absorb calcium. If you are a smoker and you want to try and quit, your doctor can help. There are lots of different treatments and therapies you can try, such as group support and nicotine replacement therapy. If you’re worried that you drink too much, use an app on your phone to keep track of your weekly intake and try and alternate alcoholic and soft drinks on a night out.

If you’re keen to do more to protect your bones, you’ve come to the right place. Take these tips into consideration, and kiss goodbye to being bone idle for good!

BambiDid you know that it is the 75th Anniversary of the beloved classic Disney movie, Bambi?  The Walt Disney Signature collection is releasing Bambi on Digital HD May 23rd and Blu-ray June 6th.

During the event to help celebrate this Disney Classic’s 75th anniversary we will get to sit down with two members of the original voice cast, Donnie Dunagan (“Bambi”) and Peter Behn (“Thumper”)! I bet they’ll have some great stories to tell. While at Disney Animation Studios we will also get a tour of Walt Disney’s office by Disney Archivist Keven Kern. I can’t wait! Make sure to follow along with #BambiBluray.

interview collageWhile in Los Angeles we will be interviewing Javier Bardem (“Captain Salazar”), Geoffrey Rush (“Barbossa”), Brenton Thwaites (“Henry”), Kaya Scodelario (“Carina Smyth”).  We will also be interviewing Directors Joachim Ronning & Espen Sandberg and (OMG!!!) Producer Jerry Bruckheimer!! Have you seen the list of movies and shows that he’s worked on? Have any questions you want me to ask any of them? Let me know!
dolbyOne of the highlights of our trip will be walking the red carpet at The Dolby Theatre for the Pirates of the Caribbean premiere and then of course getting to see the movie. This is my first red carpet event since I lost 80 pounds so I am excited to show off my new body in a beautiful new dress. If you didn’t know The Dolby Theatre is where the Oscars take place. I’ve been on the steps of The Dolby Theatre before but this is my first time actually inside. We’ll be rubbing elbows with stars. I wonder who we’ll see. Johnny Depp perhaps? SWOON!!! I recently found out that Paul McCartney has a part in the movie, too. I would probably faint if I met him. Make sure to follow #PiratesLifeEvent for all the up to the minute details and pictures. I’ll be sharing on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.” The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea—notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy. At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has ever faced.

“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” also stars Kevin R. McNally as Joshamee Gibbs,  Golshifteh Farahani as the sea-witch Shansa, David Wenham as Scarfield, Stephen Graham as Scrum, and Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa.

No trip to Los Angeles would be complete without a trip to DISNEYLAND!!! Growing up in Florida I have been to Walt Disney World many times but I have only been to Disneyland one other time, 2 years ago on another Disney press trip. Unfortunately I wasn’t feeling well that day so I really didn’t get to enjoy the park and I didn’t even make it over to California Adventure at all. So I am really looking forward to going back. We’ll be riding the Pirates of the Caribbean ride of course.

Pirates of the Caribbean is considered by many to be one of the most spectacular attractions ever created for a theme park. Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, the adventures continue in Southern California! The attraction was originally conceived as a wax museum and a walk-through exhibit. But following the success of Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at the 1964 New York World’s Fair, Walt Disney and his team of Imagineers decided that Audio-Animatronics—Walt’s latest animation technology—was the most imaginative way to tell a rousing pirate story. On March 18, 1967, Pirates of the Caribbean opened at Disneyland Park. Thanks to the many highly detailed scenes, lavish special effects and memorable characters, the attraction earned rave reviews and has remained a beloved classic, even spawning its own blockbuster film series!

We’ll also be checking out PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES sneak peek. This is a 14-minute, 4D preview of the film with costumes and props on display located in the Sunset Showcase Theatre in Hollywood Land in Disney’s California Adventure park. And I never miss my favorite ride, The Haunted Mansion. We’ll finish our magical day watching World of Color nighttime water spectacular. I can’t wait! So what other rides and attractions do you suggest?

Going on vacation with your entire family can seem like a lot, and more often than not, it is. But, that doesn’t mean it can’t be a great idea. Getting all of the generations together can be both and enjoyable and an excellent way to make memories. We never know what the future holds, so spending precious time together while we can is always worth it. Get your parents, children, siblings and extended family members together and start to plan – because a big family vacation is calling.

Pick Neutral Territory

If your parents and siblings are based all across the country, you’re going to want to pick somewhere that is easy for you all to get too. Likewise, you’re going to want to decide on a kind of vacation that you can all look forwards to. Whether that’s a beach holiday, ski trip or city escape, choosing neutral territory often ensures that your vacation gets off on the right foot, even before it’s started. If you’re prone to arguments, this could be one way to keep them to a minimum.

Plan Ahead

Next up, you’re going to want to make sure that your family vacation is completely planned before you leave for it. You might think that leaving your days free always for spontaneity, but when you’re vacationing in large numbers, it can cause chaos. You can find that people are waiting around a lot and no one can agree on times and places. So, cut that out by planning activities before you get there. That way, everyone’s ideas and tastes can be catered for and everyone knows what to expect with the agenda.

Pack Well

To make this work, everyone is going to need to make sure they have packed smart. Not only will you need the right equipment and accessories for your little ones, but you’re going to want to make sure that your parents have their hearing products and accessories to be able to enjoy themselves. Also, you’ll need to advise everyone on things like swimwear, skiwear, or even hiking or activity gear should they need it.

Mix Things Up

When you’re trying to coordinate a lot of personalities and ages, you may want to keep everyone happy. One way of doing this is to ensure that your agenda has a mix of everything. Some people may want to lay by the pool while others may want to play tennis. Either way, ensuring that your planned days and activities have a good mix of everything, you’ll do a much better job at keeping the children, adults, and seniors all happy.

Split Up

Even though this is a family vacation, there’s no reason why you all have to do everything together. In fact, splitting up is often a good way to ensure that everyone gets a vacation that they love but still enjoys their time together. When some of you are enjoying the sun, others can be out shopping or head on an adventure. It’s often the best way to avoid friction and ensure that everyone has a good time.

The Best Cities In Florida

Florida is a wonderful state to live in. It has great weather, friendly people and it’s a safe area to raise a family in. Why wouldn’t anybody want to live there? That doesn’t mean that every single corner of the state is lovely, though. There are obviously going to be some parts that should be avoided and some parts that are much better than others. If you are considering a move to Florida, or if you are just thinking about relocating to a different city in the state, you should know which cities are best. Here is a handy list of some of the best cities in Florida.

Naples

Naples_FL_Pier02Source

Naples in southwest Florida is a very quiet and peaceful city to live in. It has a population of around twenty thousand but most of the homeowners have it as a second home, so during the summer months, it will be very empty. If you are a keen golfer then this is probably the best place for you as it has more golf courses than any other place in the whole country. It is also home to a historic downtown area that offers great dining experiences as well as a rich cultural scene. Having said that, you are at higher risk of damage during hurricanes and storms, so you’ll need to weigh that against the positives.

Tallahassee

Tallahassee is the capital of Florida State and is an incredibly popular city indeed. The large Cuban population has given birth to hundreds of delicious fusion restaurants all over the city. It also has a vibrant arts and music scene, with lots of great galleries and performance venues everywhere. Each year the city hosts a number of different festivals and parades showcasing all of the brilliant talent in the city. If you are considering a move to Tallahassee, there are plenty of homes for sale at Joe Manausa real estate, so why not have a look and see what you can find.

Winter Springs

Winter Springs is a small town just outside of Orlando. It’s a great location because you get all of the benefits of being close to Orlando without having to be at the heart of the busy city. The crime rates are also a lot lower than they are in Orlando. If you enjoy all of the theme parks and other attractions that are in Orlando then you should definitely consider Winter Springs. You’ll even be close enough to commute if you wanted to work in the city. You are at lower risk of hurricane damage here and the schooling is very good. However, accidents on the routes into Orlando can cause major traffic incidents.

Palm Beach

Most people think of Palm Beach as being exclusively for the rich, but that isn’t the case. You can still enjoy the rich social lifestyles of the people in Palm Beach without shelling out millions of dollars for an expensive house. In fact, some condos will cost as little as $200,000, so not really much more expensive than anywhere else. During the winter months, the city really comes alive, but you will be exposed to the risk of flooding.
