Lower back pain can affect us all. But, there are some painful symptoms that you should never ignore. On the contrary, when it comes to lower back pain, you must always be alert. Back pains and aches are normal if you have been undertaking strenuous tasks. But, if your body is in chronic pain and there is no just cause for it, it may be time to speak to your doctor.

Asthma is a problem that many children and their families have to deal with. Some kids grow out of it as they get older, but while they’re still young it can be a frightening thing to experience. Like many illnesses, there are triggers in your home and out and about that can make asthma symptoms worse. If you want to make your home safer, there are several problems you can tackle to reduce the risk of breathing problems and asthma attacks for your son or daughter. Asthma can be triggered by lots of things in the home, including dust mites, damp and cigarette smoke. But you can make some changes in your home to improve the conditions and reduce asthma triggers.

Dust Mites

The majority of people with asthma are sensitive to dust mites. These tiny creatures live in carpets, bedding, soft furnishings and toys. There are methods you can try to try and reduce dust mites, including using mattress and pillow protectors and special mattresses. However, although many people with asthma say that these methods are effective, research indicates that they are not. In fact, there may not be much we can do to reduce the number of dust mites in our houses. The best way to tackle symptoms triggered by mites is to make sure the asthma is well-managed.

Pets

Pets with fur or feathers are also common asthma triggers. If you own pets, regularly vacuuming  may help. However, allergens from cats could take months to get rid of. The best way to treat exposure to pets is to keep asthma under control with preventative medications. You can also try keeping pets out of bedrooms and living areas. You can ask your vet about grooming or bathing that could help and having your carpets professionally cleaned.

Cigarette smoke is bad for everyone, but it can be especially dangerous for anyone with asthma. The best way to reduce smoke around children with asthma is for anyone who is around them to give up. You can find plenty of information about quitting to help you, but until then you should smoke away from your child.

When there are so many things in the air that can set off asthma symptoms, it can be difficult to know where to start with tackling them. You can try a few things to keep the air in your home breathable by cleaning the air. Air filters and purifiers will help to clean the air while humidifiers and dehumidifiers might help too. Dehumidifiers can stop the air being too moist, preventing damp and mold, which can exacerbate asthma.

Although you can manage your home’s environment to a certain extent, the best way to manage triggers in your house is to monitor your child’s asthma. You can ensure that they receive regular checkups and are receiving the best treatment program for them.

Wouldn’t you like to knock a few years off your real age? Of course, you would. Every woman in the world would like to look a little younger than she is, and I am sure that you are no different. When you have children, it seems as though your beauty regime takes a back seat to the rest of your life. It doesn’t have to be that way. Here are eight awesome tips to help you shed those years.

1. Wear sunscreen

Getting a tan might seem like an excellent idea, but science shows that it damages your skin more than you know. If you want your skin to stay firm and wrinkle-free, you need to wear sunscreen all the time. Wear a cream with an SPF of forty or more for the best results.

2. Get the right moisturizer

Your moisturizing routine should be simple and easy to remember. You need to use a cream that suits your skin, while making it appear fresh and new. bend the rulesI am all about technology.  I love all things electronic.  As a blogger I need to stay connected and I like to be able to work from any place in my house.  The HP x360 helps with that.  It has a range of 360 degrees so it #BendsTheRules and is very versatile.

hp 360 laptop modeThe most obvious way to use my HP x360 is in LAPTOP MODE.  As a blogger I love the freedom of being able to blog from anywhere.  I have a desk that I sometimes work from but I can’t see the television from my desk.  I also like to be sitting with my girls on the couch but still be able to work if I need to.  I love taking my HP x360 with me on the couch and either using it on my lap or using a tray table as a mini desk so I can watch television while I work.  It is so light weight that it is easy to take it anywhere with me.
HP 360 TentI’ve been in a dinner idea slump lately.  My girls aren’t very adventurous when it comes to eating new things for dinner, we were all getting tired of eating the same things, and when I was making new things my girls weren’t giving them a fair chance and tasting them.  It is so frustrating to work hard on a new recipe only to have it rejected by my children just because of how it looks.  I’ve found recently that if they help me come up with dinner ideas and prepare it, they are more likely to give dinner a chance.  I love putting my HP x360 in TENT MODE to search for recipes and follow new recipes with my girls while we’re in the kitchen.  We find a recipes together and with the laptop in Tent Mode we can cook and follow the recipe as well.  I love that we can turn it horizontally or vertically to suit our needs.
stand modeMy girls love using my  HP x360, too.  In STAND MODE my girls can comfortably watch their favorite shows and videos and I don’t have to worry about them pushing buttons, getting into files I don’t want them to, etc.  With BeatsAudio™ and dual speakers optimized for use in any position, the HP Pavilion x360 has great sounding audio for all that we watch.
tablet modeTABLET MODE is so convenient for us, too.  My girls like to snuggle in their oversized chair with my HP x360 in tablet mode and watch their favorite videos or read their favorite books.  The touch screen makes it easier for all of us to use and because the screen it so much bigger than our regular tablets, the viewing experience is so much better.  Now we can take the fun wherever we want.

tosi reviewI received Tosi Super Bites in almond and cashew flavors, Tosi Complete Greens, and Tosi Complete Meal vanilla.  I love that the products are organic.  Tosi Complete Meal is the first meal replacement shake that I have found that is organic and that is important to me.  It is ultra low on the glycemic index which is also important to me as I was diagnosed as a diabetic last year.  It is an excellent source of protein, vitamins, and minerals.  It is whole-food nutrition with fast-food convenience.  It has 20 grams of bio-available protein, helps control hunger and cravings, and has less than a gram of sugar.  It is great for athletes, moms on the go, students between classes, and even for people like me who are trying to lose weight.  I love that I can just add 2 scoops to 8-12 ounces of water, shake, and enjoy.  I choose the vanilla flavor as I like to add other flavors to it with things like essential oils (lime, orange, cinnamon, and other favors), powdered peanut butter, fat free pudding mix, etc. to change up the flavor so I’m not drinking a vanilla shake every day.  To me vanilla is more versatile but that is just personal preference.  They also sell a chocolate version.  The Tosi Complete Meal fills me up for hours.  It says to make it with water but I like making it with almond milk as well.  Either way it is very creamy, thick, filling and delicious.

Much in the same way holding your breath triggers an undeniable craving for oxygen. Most hunger pangs are not a signal for more calories; they are a signal for more nutrients. A nutrient-rich body does not send out a hunger signal every time the stomach is empty. The Tosi Health System works because it delivers the simplest and most convenient sources of Ultra-Low Glycemic nutrients available on the market today. Last week I treated my friends to a tea party and The Best of Me on DVD.  I loved the movie so I was excited to watch it on Valentine’s Day with my hubby.  Fox Home Entertainment sent us everything we would need for a romantic date night at home- The Best of Me on Blu-ray, wine glasses, candles, a blanket, and a gift card to order pizza from Domino’s.  Well, everything but a babysitter came in the box so we planned on ordering pizza for our girls for dinner and our date night would start when they were in bed.  After 2 children and 13 years of marriage we’ve certainly learned to be flexible and sometime date night needs to start after bedtime for our girls.  Romance isn’t always about expensive dinners and fancy nights out.  Sometimes it’s just about being together and that was certainly the case this year.

I’d love to show you pictures of our romantic date night but I ended up with a horrible cold and cough on Valentine’s Day so there was no way I was letting anyone take pictures of me like that!   It would not have a pretty sight, that’s for sure.  But my hubby and I weren’t going to let my cold totally ruin our Valentine’s Day.  Flexibility is the key for a great marriage.  Our girls enjoyed their dinner while my husband let me rest and he surprised me with a home cooked surf and turf  dinner.P1230788Once our girls were in bed we lowered the lights, light the candles, and enjoyed our home cooked dinner of steak topped with crumbled blue cheese, lobster tails, crab cakes, asparagus (for me only), and onion rings.  Our dinner It looks pretty good, doesn’t it?  My hubby is a keeper!  I’d love to say that by the time we finished eating our dinner our girls were asleep and we were able to enjoy the movie together but this is real life.  Remember what I said about being flexible?  Doesn’t it always seem that when you really want your kids to go to sleep quickly it takes them forever?  That was the case on Valentine’s Day but finally our girls fell asleep and we were able to snuggle on the couch and enjoy The Best of Me.

5 Natural Health Remedies For Children

Whether your little one has a tummy ache or a cold, it is always a good idea to give home remedies a try, before paying out for unnecessary prescription drugs.

Most home remedies are low cost, have no nasty side effects and use items you probably already have in your home. Some natural remedies, like chamomile and ginger, for example, have even been confirmed by scientific research to have healing effects.

If your child has a more severe illness it always a good idea to give your family doctor a call and make an appointment for a check up. But, the next time your child suffers from a minor injury or illness, give these home remedies a try, instead of heading to the chemist.

1. Honey and lemon for a sore throat

If your child is feeling unwell and suffering from a sore throat, instead of heading out to your nearest pharmacy and buying throat sweets, opt for a natural alternative, like honey and lemon.

Lemon is excellent for drying out congestion while honey will coat the throat in a protective layer, reducing pain from a sore throat or cough. A recent study found that giving a child a teaspoon of honey, helped to ease their cough better than cough medicine did.

All you need to do is mix a tablespoon of honey and a tablespoon of lemon juice together, and heat it in the microwave for 20 seconds. Make sure it is warm, not hot, and then feed to your child, one teaspoon at a time. Do not give honey to children under one-year-old.

2. Baking power for insect bites

Instead of spraying your child’s bug bite with store bought chemicals, use baking powder instead. Baking soda is alkaline based, so it counteracts the acidic big bite and helps to reduce the swelling and soreness of the bite.

Simply mix baking powder and water together so that it forms a thick paste, then apply to the bites and leave to dry.

3. Licorice for tummy ache

If your child complains of a tummy ache, give them some licorice to chew on – just make sure it is the real kind, not the super sweet candy.

Herbal licorice has compounds in it that it has been suggested, can help to relieve stomach aches and pains.

4. Steam for a cough or cold

Steam is amazing for treating coughs and colds. Instead of buying decongestant tablets and cough syrups, use steam to treat your child’s cough or cold. It works just as well, is much cheaper and will have no nasty side effects.

To use steam to treat a cough or a cold, you can either sit your child in a steamy bathroom or you can invest in a vaporizer.  It all depends on what method you think works best.

5. Treat cuts with honey

Instead of using chemical creams and lotions, you can treat cuts and grazes with a thin layer of honey.

It’s gentle, chemical-free and works well to kill bacteria and protect the wound. The only downside is that it can be a little messy.

When you lose contact with your loved ones, it can have a drastic effect on the way that you feel. You should always make a massive effort to show people how much you love them and how much you care about them.

1. Remember everything your family tells you

When your family talks to you, you need to listen to everything that they say. Sometimes, it is easy to zone out when people are talking. Doing so is a rude habit and one which you should avoid if you can. Sometimes, remembering the little things that people have said to you can mean the world to them.

2. Write letters to people who are far away

If you have relatives who live far away from you, you may struggle to keep in contact with them on a regular basis. One way, you can bridge the gap, is by writing them letters and telling them how you are. These days, nobody bothers to write letters anymore. There is something that much more personal about a handwritten card than an email or a text message. Take the time to write a letter to your relatives so that they feel close to you no matter where they live.

3. Visit the people who live close to you

You will have some family members who live right on your doorstep. Don’t fall into the trap of taking these people for granted. They are the closest people to you in both geographical terms and figurative terms. If you have close relatives in a nursing home you should make an effort to go and see them each week. If you get into the habit of doing so, you will create a lasting bond with your family members.

4. Support people regardless of their life choices

Sometimes, families fall apart for stupid reasons. There will be times when your family members do things that you don’t like. That is natural. Everybody is an individual, and so we all make unique life choices. Remember, your relatives need your support no matter what happens. You need to be there for these people, in the same way, that they would be there for you.

5. Call people up for no reason at all

You don’t need an excuse to catch up with your family. All you need to do is pick up the phone to talk to the people that you love. Sometimes, people avoid calling their relatives because they have no reason to do so. If you want to build a strong relationship with the people in your family, you need to confide in them and share things with them.

6. Show up to family events and parties

Everybody feels lazy from time to time. That feeling is natural. When someone invites you to a family get-together, you should make every effort to ensure that you turn up. You might think that you are too busy to attend these events, but you are not. Nobody should ever be too busy for their family.

7. Share memories with your family members

Sometimes, the best way to bond with your family is to share your memories with them. You probably have loads of childhood memories that you love. You should spend some time with your family reminiscing about the good old days. Look at old photo albums and remember how things used to be. Doing so will mean that you have an unbreakable bond with the people you adore.
