There’s nothing worse for parents than when their child gets sick. It’s not just the worry and the stress that’s the problem but also the cost. It’s no secret that healthcare can be expensive, which is what makes caring for a sick child even harder to deal with. The problem is that knowing when to take a child to see a doctor can be hard to judge. As a parent, it’s easy to rush them to the doctor’s office at the first sign of any sickness. But it’s important to realize that a lot of childhood illnesses can be safely treated at home.

Many parents struggle when it comes to their child getting sick as while they want them to get the best care. However, they don’t want to pay for medical treatment unnecessarily. It’s a tricky situation and one that a lot of moms struggle to know how to cope with. With that in mind, this guide should help parents to decide the best ways to care for a sick child and when to take them to see a doctor. As well as a few useful tips for keeping health care costs as low as possible.

Google their symptoms

When a child gets sick, it can sometimes be hard to work out what’s wrong with them. As a parent, this can make things even more stressful as it’s easy to panic about what it could be. The best thing to do in this situation is have a look online and do some research. Obviously, it’s important to realize that often, the internet gives the worst case scenarios. However, look past these and focus on the everyday illnesses that are common in children. Getting an idea of what could be wrong with a child that’s sick is important, as this will help to make it easier to work out the next steps to take. Things like coughs, colds, sickness bugs and viruses can be treated at home. Infections, however, require medical attention.

Keep an eye on the child

As a parent, the best thing to do when a child is sick is keep an eye on them. Often, they’ll act differently, when they’re sick to how they act when they’re healthy. These signs can be subtle, but as a parent, it’s important to look out for them. Lots of moms worry that they won’t be able to tell if their child is really sick, but it’s obvious when a child is severely unwell. A child who is very unwell will sleep all day, have a raging fever and may even be delirious. Any of these symptoms requires immediate medical attention.

Leave it 24 hours

As long as the child doesn’t have a high fever or is delirious, it’s often okay to monitor them for 24 hours before taking them to see a doctor. Obviously, this depends on how sick the child is, but in most cases 24 hours of monitoring is the best thing to do. That way, the child can be watched to see if they start to improve or if they seem to be getting more unwell. If a child appears to be getting more sick, it’s important to take them to the doctors as soon as possible, to ensure that they’re getting the right care.

Check their temperature

The most important factor when a child is sick is their temperature. Most fevers – high temperatures, are mild and disappear on their own. However, if a child is burning up with an extremely high fever, it’s important to know how to get it down. Temperature spikes can be dangerous for young children, so knowing how to relieve a fever is a must for all parents. The best way to do this is by giving them painkillers, if after an hour, their temperature is still high, it’s time to call a doctor.

Make a doctor’s appointment

paid medical servicesPicture link

If the child has a raging temperature, has been getting more and more sick or is delirious, a doctor’s appointment is essential. Health care can be expensive, especially if the child isn’t covered by medical insurance. However, that shouldn’t stop a sick child from seeing a doctor. While most medical facilities are expensive, there are some that offer low-cost or even free care. Many parents aren’t aware of this but low-cost medical care does exist, it’s just a case of finding it. There is also help available to help parents on a low-income cover the cost of medical bills. There’s even prescription assistance available, to help make medicine more affordable.

Do as the doctor says

Doctors don’t give advice for it not to be listened to. If a child is sick enough to see a doctor, it’s important that the advice given is taken on board. If a doctor recommends that a sick child should spend two days in bed, this should be followed. Many parents take a child to see a doctor and then don’t heed what the doctor says. It’s important to take the advice on board that’s given, to help speed up how quickly it takes the child to heal.

Ensure the prescription is completed

It’s also essential that if the child is given a prescription, the whole course of medicine is completed. Far too often, once a child starts to feel better their parents stops giving them their medicine because they believe they no longer need it. However, that’s not the case, for medicine to be effective, the entire course must be completed. Even if the child is much happier and more active, it’s still essential that all their medicine is taken. This helps to prevent the illness returning and strengthens their immune system making them less prone to future bouts of the same thing.

As a parent, any time a child is sick it’s incredibly worrying. However, it’s important to be rational and decide whether it’s essential that a sick child sees a doctor. Take the time to research their symptoms and monitor them and then decide whether or not they need to see a professional.

Enter The Property Market For Profit

There is lots of talk these days about houses. Whether it is buying or selling, homes seem to be constantly in the news. A lot of those stories relate to mortgage companies and banks, and there are certainly some horror stories. But buying a house to renovate and sell can be both a rewarding challenge and an opportunity to make some profit. Here are some pointers to get you in the right direction. See what you think, you may be inspired to become a real estate investor!

5562667256_86072fd160_zImage Link

Do your research

See how long the property has been up for sale. Certain areas tend to have more houses up for sale than others. This can be for a reason, so investigate thoroughly. Property that has been on the market for over a couple months suggests there may not be lots of profit potential. There are lots of companies that specialise in leads for real estate investors. Take some advice and see what is happening in any given area.

What should I look out for?

It is vital to ensure you don’t buy a money pit. In older properties you should prepare for anything. This could range half the plaster staying on the wallpaper when stripping, to large holes behind the panelling. Don’t be scared to make a lot of visits with every kind of tradesman so you know what you’re letting yourself in for.

Ask some experts

Workers such as roofers and electricians will charge very little for you to engage their services for estimates. They will be more useful to you than a surveyor in the early stages.

Is there a lot of work involved?

This all depends on the individual property, but be sure not to bite off more than you can chew. For a good first-hand experience of renovation, try taking a dated property as opposed to a wreck. A new kitchen, bathroom, heating, and flooring will magically transform something dark and dingy into a palace.

You can always leave the architects and specialists for next time when confidence and funds are in higher supply.

4237025430_03620e7a94_zPicture Source

Funding

Be forewarned. The phrase most often heard when renovating a wreck is: “It cost double what I expected.” Set yourself a budget and include some contingency funding – ten to fifteen percent of the total cost is a healthy guideline.

You could begin your renovation with a small cash kitty. Once you have re-decorated and carpeted, the overall benefit should allow for a minor re-mortgage. This can be used for the new kitchen and reinvigorating period features.

Additionally, remember that your team of builders will be spending a lot of time in your home. It is paramount that they are all people that you feel comfortable with. Excellent communication is very important if you want your project to run smoothly. Responsible builders will always want to do their best work for you from the very beginning.

You should now have more of an idea what renovating a house entails. It could mean long hours and a large spend. If you get it right, however, the payoff could be significant!

Touching Gifts to Get Your Daughter on Special Occasions

Watching your daughter grow up can be as terrifying as it exciting. It’s incredible to watch your children morph into young adults. But at the same time it’s frightening and a little bit sad to lose your little ones. Nevertheless, they have to get older and eventually start living independent lives. You can still enjoy all the moments along the way, though. There are lots of big events in your daughter’s life, from special birthdays to getting her first job. Marking these occasions with a gift is one way to recognize them for the significant moments they are. If you’re looking a gift to mark a special occasion in your daughter’s life, consider one of these.

Grown-up Jewelry

Many little girls start wearing jewelry when they’re fairly young. But there’s a world of difference between that and something a grown woman can wear. Buying your daughter jewelry that’s going to last is a good way to recognize that she’s an adult – or at will soon be one. If you’re trying to think of a 16th or 18th birthday present, you could get her diamond earrings or a necklace with Akoya pearls. You’re showing her that she’s ready to care for something valuable and to truly appreciate it too. You could also consider a watch, which can be both functional and beautiful.

A Laptop or Tablet

It might not be the most sentimental present, but there are many time when a new laptop or tablet will go down well. Your daughter is certainly going to have periods when she doesn’t have much money of her own, but she needs to work. Some good times to give her a new computer include when she graduates high school or is about to start college. You might also give her one for her college graduation, or when she begins her first proper job or maybe grad school. It might not be a gift that lasts a lifetime, but it’s practical and extremely useful.

Furniture or Accessories for Her Home

Moving out from the family home is a huge stage in anyone’s life. Your daughter might be going to spend term-time in her dorm, taking a semester abroad or moving out altogether. She’ll have her own space away from the family home for probably the first time. Help her make herself at home by getting her something to decorate with. However, you might want to work with her on this once. Your taste might not be the same as hers, so try not to impose your style on her home.

A Supportive Gift

Showing your daughter that you support something she does can be as simple as giving a gift. It could be her career, hobby or another choice that she makes for herself. For example, you could get her a set of paints to show that you support her love of art. Perhaps she’s starting out in her dream job, and you could get her something for her office.

A gift to your daughter can say a lot on significant occasions. If you can’t find the words, say what you want with a present.

3 Things You Must Maintain In The Home

Daily life is busy for many people. With so much to do and so much to remember, even the most organized people can get swept away. However, there are three things around every home that need to be paid attention too. These things can be potentially dangerous if not kept on top off. Better to be safe than sorry, right? Read on to find out more.

Smoke Alarm Batteries

They are small, unobtrusive objects that live in our homes. Although they save countless lives each year, it can be easy to forget about them. In forgetting about them, the homeowner forgets to maintain them. Smoke alarms are a must for every home, and keeping them working is a must too. The National Fire Protection Association states that 38% of home fire deaths occur in homes with no smoke alarms. Although a homeowner might think this does not apply to them, a smoke alarm without working batteries is as good as no alarm at all. They also report ‘510 people per year (21% of home fire deaths) were fatally injured in fires in which smoke alarms were present but failed to operate.’ These shocking statistics highlight just how important regular smoke alarm checks are.

For many devices, the homeowner and its residents can test the device themselves. This is usually done by pressing a small button on the casing. This will then indicate whether or not the batteries are still in shape. If not, it should be made an immediate priority to fix them.

Furnace Maintenance

While many homeowners rely on a furnace to keep their house warm, maintaining a furnace correctly isn’t at the top of many people’s to-do list. However, it is incredibly important. Gas furnaces combine both flames and combustible materials. While furnaces are safe if used and maintained correctly, these components are potentially deadly. Furthermore, dirty and unmaintained furnaces can emit amounts of Carbon Monoxide. This poisonous can cause serious harm or death to the homeowner and their family.

Furnace maintenance usually involved replacing any components that have become worn down and ineffective. It also includes cleaning it and calibrating the heating system. Similarly, if a homeowner needs a furnace repair, they should never put it off. Not only would doing so make the home very uncomfortable, but it could also make the home unsafe.

Home Insurance Policies

As has already been mentioned, it is challenging to keep on top of bills and paperwork. One thing that cannot be let to expire, however, is a home insurance policy. Usually, a policy will run for one year. While most companies remind their customer if their policy is due to expire, the notification could go into a Junk folder or a letter go unopened.

One month before the date of renewal is a good time to start researching renewal options. It could be sensible to stay with the same provider. Alternatively, it could be beneficial to switch. Whichever route is chosen, it is imperative to ensure that the home is left uninsured at any point.

Make A Garden For Your Dog

Your dog is a part of the family but he or she is also part wolf and a fun loving animal. No animal likes to be locked up all day. It is not fair on him and might cause him to become stressed and agitated. Any dog lover will tell you that a dog who is stressed will bark a lot, and engage in destructive behavior.

Letting the dog outside into the yard is fine, but it is not necessarily a nice place to be. A dog deserves a garden. A dog deserves a garden and not just a garden that he is allowed in. Make your dog a garden that he will enjoy playing in, relaxing in and investigating. It is even possible for you to create a garden that dogs can dig in! Here are a few doggy garden thoughts.

Fencing is probably the first thing that you have to think of when letting your dog outside. The trouble is fencing is often ugly and sometimes it is even dangerous. Electric fences are not always reliable. A dog will eventually find a way around them. The best solution is to invest in special fencing for dogs. This will give them a view out of the property but will keep them inside safely.

Your dog is an animal with a job to do. One of those jobs is to patrol his territory, which also happens to be your backyard or garden. It can be a good idea if you have the space to give him a path around the perimeter to do that. If the path is curved slightly, it will be more interesting for him!

It can be a good idea to use gravel or small stones on the surface, but large chips of bark might work quite well. Smaller pieces could be injurious to your dog’s paws.

Keep your planting fenced off from your dog if it is in any way likely to cause injury. It can be a good idea to plant up robust shrubs rather than delicate plants. Let your dog have somewhere to sun as well as somewhere to lie in the shade.

A doghouse or kennel is a great way to give your pet a place of security and also respite from the world outside. It might also be a place to shelter from the weather for example if you are out at work.

All dogs should have a plentiful supply of water.

Give your dog some toys to play with! Of course, he will want to play with you, but all dogs like to be challenged and have things to do. A selection of toys should be rotated. You could build him an area for digging. A digging pit is a great addition to any dog garden.

Finally, a dog does not have to be out or in! He could actually have a dog door. A larger version of the cat flap, this will need to have a facility for locking when you are not there.

Making a garden for your dog is only half the story. The other half is the fun you will have enjoying it with him, and when you are not there, he will have a brilliant place to call his own.

Rip it Out and Start Again

Right, for those wanting to get a bit drastic it’s time for decisive action. That means thinking about what can be done to change as much as possible. In this scenario, those wanting a complete change would rip out the bathroom and start again. Having a blank canvas to work with allows for much more flexibility. It might seem like an extreme starting point, but sometimes this is the best way to do things. So this is certainly something to consider at the start of the makeover.

Make it Larger

Anyone with high hopes and ambitious goals for their bathroom might think about making it larger. Now, this could mean knocking a wall through and expanding. Or, it could just mean changing the layout of the bathroom to maximise the space. For instance, baths often take up a lot of room in the bathroom. So, it might be worth getting rid of the bath and just sticking to a shower instead. This is going to generate a lot more space and add more versatility to the room.

Paint It

It’s amazing how much difference a splash of colour can make to a room. The golden rule of undertaking any home project is to always get the paint out. Sometimes a room might not need as much work as it first appeared to. Experience shows that it can often be the case that the room simply requires a fresh coat of paint. This can revitalise and reinvigorate it and make it look brand new. So, it’s time to get at the bathroom with a paintbrush and see if it will make a big difference. Many people find themselves shocked and startled by the difference it can make to the entire look and feel of the room.

Utilise Natural Light

One of the things so many people love about the bathroom is how it can utilise natural light. And it always disappoints when people don’t this. It’s vital to make sure that any size or shape of bathroom is as bright and vibrant as possible. So, for a start it might be worth having more windows put in, if there is space. Get rid of curtains, and use blinds for the bathroom instead as they are better for letting light in. Try to get a couple of mirrors in there too because they will reflect the light and brighten the room significantly.

Family-Friendly Design

If you are making over the family bathroom it’s important to bear that in mind. You need to come up with a family-friendly bathroom design. Something that will incorporate the tastes and needs of the whole family. If you have young kid, for instance, you’ll need to have a bath in there. There has to be plenty of space for storing things. You also need to think about the colours you use in the room and how efficient they are in terms of cleaning etc.

Consider a Wet Room

For those who live alone, or as a couple, a wet room might be the order of the day. This is an efficient and cool way of developing and adapting the bathroom. Couples might decide they want to get rid of their bathtub as many people do. It can sometimes look unpleasant, and it takes up a lot of space as well. So, instead, a great suggestion would be for them to get themselves a wet room or, at the very least a walk-in shower.

Trendy Sink and Toilet

Many people also think it’s important to consider the aesthetic value of the bathroom. That means thinking about how the room looks to people who go in there, and what improvements can be made. It should always be important to homeowners that their bathroom looks cool and trendy. One of the best ways to do this is to take a look at some European-style bathroom essentials. Things like a trendy sink and toilet that people can see here at lavare.com.au can have a big impact on anyone’s bathroom. It’s important that people take pride in how their bathrooms look, and this is one of the ways they can achieve that.

Storage Space

The sensible homeowner is one who is practical and thinks ahead. She understands the role the bathroom plays in the home, and the need for storage space. And that’s why when designing and making over the bathroom she will spend time getting this part right. It’s important to look at the functionality of a room as well as considering how great it looks. And that’s where a lot of people make mistakes because they don’t do this. Anyone making over their bathroom has to be sure there is ample space for storage.

As you can see, there are all manner of ideas for things that could be done within the bathroom. It’s important to think about the scope and versatility of the bathroom as a part of the home. A lot of what people choose to do will depend upon the size of their bathroom, and who lives in the property. So, try to use these ideas to come up with bathroom makeover ideas. There’s no time like the present to get cracking on a new and improved bathroom!

Treat Breakouts Right: Top Tips For Dealing With Acne

Suffering from breakouts after leaving your teens behind can be downright depressing. Why did no one ever say that acne isn’t just a teenage thing? Breaking out in spots as an adult can be embarrassing and upsetting, and can give your confidence a real knock. It’s easy to feel self-conscious when you’re skin’s spotty, but there’s no need to get upset as adult acne is incredibly common. (Two in five people suffer from adult acne – that’s 40 percent of the population.)

maxresdefaultPicture link

It might be irritating and upsetting to have breakouts in your twenties but the good news is getting shot of them for good isn’t difficult. It’s just a case of making a few beauty and lifestyle changes, and your skin will be a lot less prone to spots. The only problem is that there are so many myths out there about the best ways to achieve spot-free skin that it can be hard to know what to believe. Luckily for you, I’ve put together this guide to help you get shot of those spots once and for all.

Start with lifestyle changes

3604928038_4e76a107bb_zImage credit: Flickr

The most common cause of adult acne in women is smoking. So if you smoke, you need to take the steps to quit. It might not be easy – cigarettes are addictive after all, but if you want clear skin, it’s what you have to do. While it’s best to quit altogether, if that’s not an option, switch to vaping. (Your skin will clear up significantly as you won’t be surrounding it with smoke.)

Did you know that sugar causes the skin to become inflamed leading to breakouts? If you’re someone who has a high sugar consumption and suffer from acne, this could be the route cause. It might be hard giving up sugar, but you’ll find that your skin will be much better for it. Swap from snacking on processed snacks to fresh fruit, and within a week or two you’ll see a difference.

If you’re not drinking, at least, six to eight glasses of water each day, you need to start. While water isn’t directly linked to breakouts, it is related to healthy skin. The healthier your skin is, the less prone you’ll be to acne, which is why drinking enough water is important. Aim to drink up to eight glasses of water each day – if you’re not a fan of plain water, infuse it with fruit.

Change how you care for your skin

toner-906142_960_720Photo source

If you’re not taking the time to cleanse your skin each evening, this could be behind your breakouts. During the day, our skin gets covered in dirt and oil, which if not removed before bed, can lead to spots. Make sure that every night before going to bed, you remove your makeup and cleanse your face. It’s best to steer clear of facial wipes as these tend to move the dirt and oil around your face, instead of removing it.

Many of us make the mistake of not checking the ingredients in our beauty products before we use them. There are some ingredients – mostly chemical based ones that can damage your skin and make flare-ups worse. Make sure always to opt for natural products wherever possible, as these are less likely to upset your skin and cause breakouts.

There are some products that have been created especially for skin that’s prone to acne and breakouts. If you want to give your skin a better chance of fighting breakouts, it’s a good idea to give some of these products a try. One of the most popular acne clearing products at the moment is this 15% glycolic acid serum. As well as reducing acne and scars, this product also makes your skin softer and smoother.

There are also natural products you can try, such as witch hazel, aloe vera and tea tree oil-based cleansers and creams. Because of the antibacterial properties that these contain, they’re amazing for preventing breakouts. It can be a case of trial and error as what works for one person, may not work for another. So you may need to try a few different products out, to see which ones work best for you.

The cardinal sin of acne prone skin is caking your face in makeup. You might feel unconfident about how your skin looks, but smothering it in concealer and foundation is only going to make it worse. If you’re going to wear makeup, make sure it’s a natural brand that you’re using, and only apply a light amount.

Adult acne may feel like a cruel joke from the skin gods, but it’s actually incredibly common. Don’t let your skin get you down, be proactive and find ways to help prevent breakouts in the future.

Designing A Family-Friendly Bathroom That You Love

Bathrooms can be tricky to get right, especially when you’re creating a family-friendly space. Family bathrooms have to be able to cope with a lot of different needs, and also, be able to cater to a range of ages. While at the same time, they need to be smart and stylish and suitable for guests to use. Interior designers say that family-friendly bathrooms should serve two main functions. One to be practical and two to be indulgent.

Getting your family bathroom design right is no easy task. However, with inspiration and a little out of the box thinking, it is doable. To give you a helping hand, here are a few bathroom design tips that you might want to take on board.

Be practical about the floors and walls

Bathroom_with_bathtubePhoto source

Let’s start by talking flooring. Kids love to splash about in the bath, so the chances are that most bathtimes your bathroom floor is going to get a little wet. If this is the case, avoid wooden flooring, as wood can lift if it gets wet – even the specially treated stuff.

Instead, it’s probably best to go for a tile floor. To get an idea of what your options are, have a browse on an online tile store. The great thing about tiles is that there are so many designs available, from prints and patterns to neutrals. Whatever tile design you opt for, make sure it has a non-slip coating to prevent any slips or falls. To keep yours and your little one’s feet warm, why not opt for underfloor heating? Tiled floors can be cold, which isn’t something you want in a bathroom, hence, why underfloor heating could be a good idea.

Incorporate plenty of storage

A family bathroom will not only be home to those chic ornaments and accessories you opt to incorporate but also bath toys. Unless you want clutter all over your bathroom, you need to ensure that there is plenty of storage.

Adding shelving, built in wardrobes and alcoves in the walls, are ideal ways to ensure your bathroom has adequate storage. Stacking boxes and under the sink storage are also great ideas for extra storage space. Your bathroom should have a sense of calm and luxe to it, things that if it’s cluttered, it cannot have.

Ensure the main features are child-friendly

bathtub-1078929_960_720Image credit

For your shower, opt for a large stall so that there is plenty of room should you need to help your child shower. To reduce the chance of your child scolding themselves, go for a thermostatic shower. It’s also important that the shower tray has a non-slip surface to prevent any slips and falls, while the screen should have curved edges.

Opt for a double or large basin instead of a regular one. If you’ve got more than one child, having a large sink or a double one, can make daily life much easier. Choose a mixer tap instead of separate hot and cold taps as this will help to ensure your kids don’t burn themselves. You can also fit temperature regulators to the taps if you want to make your bathroom even safer.

For the bath, be choosy about the design you go for. Obviously, it needs to be large enough for bathing multiple children. As well as the right height to make it easier for you to get your little ones in and out. Clawfoot baths are ideal for family bathrooms as they’re higher than usual baths, so make lifting kids in and out, easier. Plus, as they’re so high, children are less likely to accidently fall in.

Pick a toilet that isn’t too high, else your kids will struggle to use it by themselves. It’s also a good idea to select a slow-close toilet seat to prevent little fingers getting caught squashed. If your toilet is too high for your little ones, invest in a wooden step for them to use.

Add style with accessories

Often, in family-friendly bathrooms, accessories are forgotten about. To add extra style to your bathroom, a few well thought out accessories are crucial. If your bathroom has a theme, make sure to stick to that when selecting items. Or if not, make sure to stick to your chosen color scheme.

Things like wall art, pretty trays for keeping soaps on, and chic handles, are all it takes to add style. Don’t forget to invest in lighting fixtures that match the design style and look stylish in the space. It’s best to steer clear of material designs as the steam can make them go moldy – metal or wooden designs are best.

It can be hard to know where to start when it comes to creating a beautiful family bathroom. Hopefully, however, the tips and ideas above will help you to come up with the perfect design for making the most of your space.

Are you drinking enough water?

Water is every dieter’s best friend. It has so many health benefits; your body will always thank you for keeping hydrated.  Helping flush out the toxins and other nasties from your body, drinking water can also make you feel full up. Another benefit is that it also helps you avoid fatigue. When you are dehydrated, you may feel tired and are more likely to make bad food choices. Drinking water will help you remain alert and help give you more energy. It all too easy to forget to drink enough H2O! If you struggle with drinking plain water all day, try fruit infused water for extra taste. You can drink low calorie diluting juices or diet drinks, but these tend to be packed full of chemicals.

Are you exercising enough?

Lots of people find they plateau when trying to lose weight. When the pounds aren’t dropping off it can be very disheartening. When you’re trying your best and seeing little results, it can put you off. It can be staying on the right track and continuing a healthier lifestyle. Changing or upping your exercise game can kick-start your weight-loss journey. Are you are hitting the gym to try and get rid of problem areas like wobbly upper arms or a mummy tummy?  You may find that exercise alone will not get rid of the fat. It’s usually down to genetics. More and more people these days are turning to liposculpture to contour their bodies. While the procedure is not for weight loss or removing large amounts of fat, it can eliminate small areas of pockets of fat. You can read how cosmetic procedures can boost your confidence here

Are you consuming “hidden” calories?

Unless you watch every single thing you put in your mouth, it might not be obvious that you are consuming so -called hidden calories. The worst culprit may be what you’re drinking! And no, not just alcoholic beverages, either. (though they’re high in calories, too.)  Have you thought about how many calories that extra-large-caramel-latte-to-go actually contains? The answer is usually a lot! Another menace to the dieter can be the smoothie. Shop bought smoothies often contain extra sugar or other additives that can destroy your healthy eating goals. Always read the label and always remember to include the calories that you’re drinking in your total daily intake.

Getting rid of unwanted fat is not easy but with perseverance, it can be done.  By using these tips, you can reboot your 2016 fitness goals and be a healthier and happier version of YOU!

Floods are devastating, and all the destruction and devastation they cause has to eventually be cleaned up. The process can be long and tortuous, but it’s best to get the cleanup started as quickly as possible. The following steps are essential, and must be covered.

Insurance

Filing an insurance claim should be one of the first steps taken. Insurance companies tend to be overwhelmed when a flood hits a town or small community. People who leave it before filing their claim are often left waiting for longer than everyone to get the hands on the money they need. It’s best to have the insurance claim rolling before any home improvements are undertaken. Most homes suffer damage during a flood, so the money from the insurance payout will be necessary to cover the cost of repairs. Not a lot can be done without the cash needed to do it, so it makes sense to clear this up first.

Water Removal

The water needs to be removed from the property as quickly as possible to salvage as much of the affected area as possible. The quicker the water is removed; the quicker life will get back to normal. Removing water from a home is not always an easy job, and it could be best to let a professional do the work. It can be done without expert knowledge. Water pumps can be bought from home improvement stores. The professionals can do a cleaner, quicker and safer job though. For people willing to spend money on a professional service, it’s probably the best option out there. RestorationEze can help with this and other repair work.

Structural Damage

One of the things that can cause real concern for homeowners after a flood is structural damage. Most homes will not suffer flood damage if the flood is only mild. But if the flood is particularly extensive, there is a risk that structural damage may be sustained. If structural damage does take place, there is a risk that the home could be unsafe for re-entry. Some buildings can even collapse after this kind of damage, so it’s obviously not safe to go inside if this is the case. If there are any concerns about the structure of a property, a property surveyor should check the structure before re-entry.

Staying Safe

There are many things that can go wrong in a flooded house. Safety should always be a top priority for anyone attempting to re-enter a property after a flood. The first thing to do is turn off the power supply; because, as everyone should know, water and electricity don’t mix well. It’s also best to use gloves and resilient boots. Injuries are not uncommon when people are walking through dirty water. And there’s also a risk of infection. Water needs to be boiled before drinking in case some of the flood water as entered the main water supply system. The authorities will usually release clearance when the water supply has been checked and it safe for drinking.
