Quick and Easy Fashion Tips for Newbies

Let’s get this straight: you’ve never really bothered concentrating on your fashion sense before, but you’ve decided to give it a go. Great stuff! People can tell a lot about you from the clothes you wear. Concentrating on your style is the perfect way to express your personality. Use these quick and easy fashion tips to get you started:

Make Sure Your Outfits are Balanced

The first thing you should do is learn how to balance your outfits. A balanced outfit will always look in proportion. You wouldn’t wear a long coat with a long skirt, for instance, as it would probably look out of place. You wouldn’t wear a short jacket with a short dress either, as it would look too much.

Find a Signature Style

Most of the time, it helps if you find a signature style and try to stick with it. Feel free to try different styles and trends, but most people can describe their style in a few words. It might be girly, punky, hippy…anything. It’s up to you and your personality!

Always Feel Comfortable

You should never feel uncomfortable in something you wear. Your outfits should be so you that you don’t feel anything but comfortable in them. If you don’t feel right in an outfit, then it just isn’t for you. Your outfits say a lot about you, so remember that when picking out Islamic clothing or another style that you like.

Find Out What Suits Your Figure

People have different figures and body types, and specific styles of clothing can either enhance that or make you look out of proportion. I recommend researching the different body types and clothes that suit them. Of course you can work outside of the guidelines, it just helps to know what flatters you and what doesn’t. The same goes for colors; find out what suits your skin, hair and eyes.

Scour the Web for Inspiration

I always like to read other fashion blogs and look on Pinterest for inspiration. There will always be information out there on how to wear a specific item, so you don’t have to feel confused ever again!

Read Up on Gok Wan

Gok Wan is a fashion hero; he helps ladies of all shapes and sizes to feel good about themselves. He has a lot of books and advice out there on the web, so be sure to research him and use some of his techniques.

Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

Finally, step out of your comfort zone a little. I know I said you had to feel comfortable, but it might be a good idea to try on something you would never normally wear, just to see how you feel. I’ve done this with shoes before and ended up loving them! You might be surprised at the new styles and trends that you adopt.

Make sure you feel confident above all else and you’ll look amazing without fail. Leave your comments with any tips you may have.

Encourage Your Children To Read By Creating A Home Library

Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

If, like me, you have always encouraged your children to read, then you will absolutely love this idea.

If you are fortunate enough to have a spare room in your home, such as a converted attic, then why not transform it into a home library? Creating a home library is a wonderful way to encourage your children to read and study on a regular basis.

The best thing about turning an unused room into a home library is that you can also use it. If you love to read like I do, then having your own library might just be a dream come true.

To help you create an educational and relaxing library in your home, here are some handy tips.

1. Think about the library’s location

If you are lucky enough to have the choice of a couple of rooms for your library, think carefully about where to create it. Ideally, you want a library that isn’t disturbed by other people in the house and won’t be affected too much by outside noise.

2. How many books will your library need to hold?

learning-164331_1280Image source

Ask yourself how many books you would like your library to hold. Will you just be filling it with your books or will you be investing in a new range of books? Are you aiming to make your library a study area for your children? And, if so, how many educational books will it need to hold? Think about your storage needs and decide what type of bookshelves are necessary.

3. Choose the color scheme

Think carefully about the colour scheme that you would like to use in your library. In the past, home libraries tended to be neutral coloured. However, if you want to motivate your children, then brighter colors might be a better choice.

If you want to create a stylish library, think about ways you can incorporate bright colours into the design in a sophisticated way. Perhaps you could use accessories to add color?

4. Make your library comfortable

Any good library is comfortable and cozy, and your home library shouldn’t be any different. If you want your children to use the library to read and study, then it needs to be comfortable and appealing to them.

Adding in plush armchairs and a relaxing 8 foot bean bag, as well as plenty of floor cushions, will make your library a comfortable place for you and your children to spend time in.

5. Think about furniture

Aside from armchairs and bookshelves, think about any other furniture you would like to add to your library. For example, you may want to add a couple of desks or a large table for reading on or studying on.

When thinking about the furniture you want to add to your library, it is important to take the space of the room into consideration. Putting too much furniture in your library will overcrowd it and clutter up the space, making it more difficult to concentrate in there.

NATM

As you probably already know from my last post about Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb it is now available on DVD and Blu-ray.  My family and I had the opportunity to screen not one but all 3 movies in the Night at the Museum series.  This was the first time my girls and I watched all the movies in a series in one day and it was a lot of fun.

family movie night

Fox Home Entertainment sent us a Family Movie Night Kit that included activity sheets such as a sign to hang on our wall, “night guard” badges for my girls to wear, a fun Bingo game, popcorn, a Dominos Pizza Gift Card, Turkish Delights chocolates, Cadbury Chocolate, and NYC Bagel Chips.  We also received the 3 movies in the series which were all absolutely hilarious and perfect entertainment for our whole family.

Night at the Museum movie night

My girls and I had fun playing the BINGO game.  When a scene that was on our bingo card came up on the screen we put an X on that spot.  Whoever crossed off their card first won.  It was a unique way to keep my girls engaged with the movie.Night at the Museum- Secret of the Tomb Bingo night guardBoth of my girls loved putting together the adorable dinosaur models.  They are now displaying them in their rooms.

For dinner we received a gift card to Dominos so we ordered some subs, pizza, a salad (for me!), and some chocolate lava cake.  I was good and resisted the chocolate lava cake since I am dieting but it wasn’t easy!  It smelled so good!

Want to have your own Night at the Museum Family Movie Night?  When you purchase Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb you will receive a code inside to get a digital download of Night at the Museum or Night at the Museum: Battle at the Smithsonian.

image003 (5)My girls have been asking about this movie from the moment they first saw a preview.  It looks so cute!

From an adventurous balloon ride above the clouds to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy Award®-winning director Pete Docter (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Up”) has taken audiences to unique and imaginative places. In Disney•Pixar’s original movie “ Inside Out,” he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all—inside the mind.

inside outGrowing up can be a bumpy road, and it’s no exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father starts a new job in San Francisco. Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters. Although Joy, Riley’s main and most important emotion, tries to keep things positive, the emotions conflict on how best to navigate a new city, house and school.

Notes:

  • Director Pete Docter is the Academy Award®-winning director of “Up.” He made his directorial debut with Disney•Pixar‘s smash hit “Monsters, Inc.,” which was nominated for an Academy Award for best animated feature film. Along with John Lasseter and Andrew Stanton, Docter developed the story and characters for “Toy Story,” Pixar‘s first full-length feature film, for which he also served as supervising animator. He served as a storyboard artist on “A Bug’s Life” and wrote the initial story treatment for “Toy Story 2.” As one of Pixar Animation Studios’ key creative contributors, Docter garnered an Academy Award nomination for his original story credit on Disney•Pixar’s Golden Globe®- and Oscar®-winning “WALL•E.”
  • Jonas Rivera produced the Academy Award®-winning “Up,” for which he was nominated for best picture. Prior to “Up,” he had worked on nearly every Pixar film since joining Pixar Animation Studios in 1994, beginning with “Toy Story” for which he served as production office assistant.
