mr peabody and shermanUnleash the adventure with Mr. Peabody & Sherman, available on DVD and Blu-ray October 14!

Get inspired this Halloween season with this hilarious comedy-adventure. Mr. Peabody (Ty Burrell) is an inventor, scientist and genius who just happens to be a dog. With his son Sherman, he will embark on the most extraordinary adventure imaginable as they race against time to repair history and save the future. Mr. Peabody & Sherman features hilarious performances from an incredible voice cast of popular stars including Ty Burrell, Ariel Winter, Stephen Colbert, Leslie Mann, Max Charles, Patrick Warburton and Allison Janney.

To help you prepare for Halloween this year, we’ll take you back in time through Mr. Peabody & Sherman’s adventures – a surefire list of original and inspired costume ideas for children and parents alike!

egyptAncient Egypt

This Halloween will have everyone walking like an Egyptian. The ideas are endless dressed as Cleopatra, King Tut and Anubis, or keep things under wraps with a Halloween classic – a mummy!

greeceAncient Greece

Take a page from the history books as an ethereal Greek God or Goddess. You can also put those old sheets to good use with a characteristic toga or bring history to life as a Spartan warrior!

italyRenaissance Italy

A nod to the rebirth of culture, the renaissance was marked by some of the greatest poets, philosophers, sculptors, artists, architects and musicians. While the possibilities are infinite, some original costume ideas include the Mona Lisa, Leonardo da Vinci or medieval gowns and robes paired with wigs and jewelry.

frenchFrench Revolution

“Let them eat cake.” Whether you’ll be enjoying cake or candy this Halloween, the French Revolution is chock-full of fashion and extravagance – marked by gowns, jackets, headgear, stockings and quirky accessories.

present dayPresent Day

What better way to pay homage to Mr. Peabody himself than an adorable bow tie accompanied by black retro round frames? Add a little black face paint to the nose and some floppy white ears and you’ll have to do a double take! Of course some of those round frames, freckles and a pair of white sneakers would also make for a great Sherman.

7) FLOWERS – We never think about getting children flowers, but they love to receive them as much as we do! This can be super inexpensive too. Just pick a pretty arrangement and wrap in tissue paper with a ribbon. This gift will get you a big smile!

Cooking Mama 5: Bon Appétit!

I’ll admit that I am not the gamer in the family so I am relying on my girls (8 and 10 years old) to tell me how they liked this game.

A (10 years old)- I was expecting this Cooking Mama game to be like the other Cooking Mama games but this one was more confusing to me.  I enjoy this game but I found it a little more confusing and challenging than the other version I have played.  I like some of the mini games.  I am sure once I play the game more I will understand it better and like it more.

D (8 years old)- I think that Cooking Mama 5 is really fun.  Every time you complete a recipe you then receive another one to complete.  There are also mini games like feeding Mama’s fish, helping Mama in the store, and feeding people.  Some of the things I made in the game were sushi, grape bread, a decorated cake.  I can’t wait to see what I will get to cook next!

This game is rated E for everyone!  Happy Cooking!

ALEXANDER AND THE TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD DAY opens in theaters October 10th!

Disney’s “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day” follows the exploits of 11-year-old Alexander (Ed Oxenbould) as he experiences the most terrible and horrible day of his young life—a day that begins with gum stuck in his hair, followed by one calamity after another. But when Alexander tells his upbeat family about the misadventures of his disastrous day, he finds little sympathy and begins to wonder if bad things only happen to him. He soon learns that he’s not alone when his mom (Jennifer Garner), dad (Steve Carell), brother (Dylan Minnette) and sister (Kerris Dorsey) all find themselves living through their own terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Anyone who says there is no such thing as a bad day just hasn’t had one. “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” directed by Independent Spirit Award-winner Miguel Arteta (“The Good Girl,” “Cedar Rapids,” “Youth in Revolt”) from a screenplay by Rob Lieber, is a 21 Laps Entertainment/Jim Henson Company production. The film hits theaters nationwide Oct. 10, 2014.

“Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day,” published in 1972, was written by Judith Viorst,   illustrated by Ray Cruz and inspired by Viorst’s sons Alexander, Anthony and Nicholas. With more than 2 million copies in print, it became an ALA Notable Children’s Book and won a George G. Stone Center Recognition of Merit, a Georgia Children’s Book Award, and distinction as a Reading Rainbow book. The book’s success spawned three sequels: “Alexander, Who Used to Be Rich Last Sunday” (1978), “Alexander, Who’s Not (Do You Hear Me?  I Mean It!) Going to Move” (1995), and the brand-new “Alexander, Who’s Trying His Best to Be the Best Boy Ever” (2014).·       The 1972 original, which has never before been the subject of a feature film, was adapted to the small screen in 1990 as an HBO animated musical with music by composer Charles Strouse.. In 1998, Viorst  collaborated with composer Shelley Markham on a stage musical of “Alexander” for the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
