Everybody has low moments in their lives. For some of us, those moments can last days or even weeks. Some of them are caused by changes in our hormones. Others are brought on by events in our lives. Whatever the cause of your low mood, there are some things you can do to help pick yourself up. Check out our top ten ways to feel a little better today:

Exercise – Getting your heart rate up and keeping it up for at least thirty minutes will cause endorphins to be released. These happy hormones will help you feel good about the hard work you’ve just put in.

Diet – Some foods are known for their ability to make us feel better. Chocolate can be helpful, but binge eating can make you feel worse. Probiotics work quickly to reduce that full feeling in your tummy. A happy tummy can lead to a happy you! Green tea and lots of fruits can also improve your mood quite quickly.

Breathe – Some breathing techniques are thought to offer clarity of thought. If your mind is going haywire, try some cleansing Yoga-style breathing techniques to provide calm and relaxation.

Meditate – Meditation is also thought to be a good way to improve your mood. For those who are struggling to stay calm, meditation can recenter you and provide stillness.

Journal – Writing your feelings down can be very therapeutic. Journaling can help with bereavement during the anger stages. This is because we are reluctant to speak ill of those who have passed on. A private few words on paper that can then be destroyed will help you get that anger out without anyone else finding out.

Cuddles – Big hugs can help you calm down, relax, and improve your mood in just a few seconds. It doesn’t make much difference who you hug either. Comforting physical contact can affect our mood in a positive way. Sometimes a stuffed animal will do!

Counseling – Talking through what is bothering you is a very healthy way of tackling a low mood. We don’t tend to slump down over just one thing. It takes several issues to knock us down into a grump. According to Idaho Falls Counseling you can make positive changes in your life this way.

Cat – Stroking a cat can have quite a substantial impact on your mood, providing you’re not allergic! The fur is tactile and warm. But it’s the purr the cat offers in reward that can have the best effect. Some studies suggest the frequency of the purr has a profound, positive effect on the brain, lifting your mood instantly.

Music – Not only can listening to music affect our mood but so can making music. If you can play a musical instrument, you can almost forget what was bothering you as you thrash out your favorite pieces.

Cry – Unbelievably, crying can make you feel better! Sometimes, just letting it all out is a good release.

Some of these might not be a permanent solution to a low mood. But all of them can help pick you up a little today. Feel better.

Things I Need to Do In The Home Before Winter

4273110809_25b0cf95cd_zWell, the recent weather hasn’t been up to much, has it? The one benefit that I have taken from it is that it’s made me think about getting the house ready for winter. The nights are drawing in a lot quicker now, and I’m determined to get things done as soon as possible. Preferably, before I start thinking about that other upcoming event. Yes, I mean the one that starts with ‘C’, but I refuse to say it until at least the end of October!  Anyway, this is what’s on the agenda…

Prep the bedding

As soon as spring arrives, the double duvet goes straight into a bag and up into the loft. And, there it will remain – for as long as I can hold out! The weather makes the rules, though, and it tends to change quite quickly in this part of the country. As I can’t stand being cold at night, I’m going to have to get down the winter bedding, get it washed, and keep it under the bed for the time being.

Clean out the gutter

In some ways, it’s a splendid job that we’ve had a lot of rain recently. For one, the plants and grass in my garden are overjoyed, but also, it’s made me realise I need to clean out the guttering. It was pouring out of there only yesterday and I managed to take a look from the loft window. The pipes are stuffed full of leaves, twigs and God knows what else, and that’s going to cause problems later in the year if I don’t attend to it.

Order some firewood

I’ve heard there’s a heatwave coming soon, which makes the fact I’m going to use it to order my winter wood a little ridiculous. But, it’s the best time for it. I’m thinking about Certainly Wood logs this year, and I’ll store it under a tarpaulin in the garden. So, I need the ground to be bone dry if I want to keep it in perfect condition for a fire. Nothing beats a cosy fire in winter, and I love the smell you get from woodsmoke. Although stacking the wood itself can be a chore, it’s great exercise and has become a bit of a ritual.

Keep an eye – and ear – out for mice

We don’t have any trouble with mice normally, but they tend to go on the move as the weather gets colder. They look for somewhere to bed down for the winter, and they will often choose the first place they come to that gives them warmth and protection. It’s one of the reasons why we keep our firewood well away from the house. We’re also going to have a good look around for any little holes that might have appeared in the past year. Now, I’m not entirely sure what we’ll do if we discover we have mice – but I guess we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it!

Start the heating process

I don’t like cranking up the heat as soon as it gets cold – it can be bad for the heating system, and is terrible for the bank account! So, as the nights get colder, I’m going to increase the heat one little step at a time and get the house acclimatised to the different temperature. It’s also a good way of helping yourself acclimatise, and should mean that you won’t feel the cold quite so much when it arrives.

The Perfect Room Just For the Kids

Decorating a child’s bedroom is something that you, as a parent, want to get right. Children value having their own private space in the home, and if it is decorated to their taste, they value it even more.

What makes a child’s bedroom perfect? An important consideration is that there is sufficient space for storage of toys and other items. The décor should reflect what the child is interested in, but parents should not automatically assume that boys will favor a blue scheme and girls a pink scheme because it does not work like that, especially in this day and age. If it is a shared bedroom, ensure that the décor is to both their tastes and that each child has their own space within the bedroom. It might be a good idea to use something like room dividers, which themselves can prove to be colorful additions to the room.

Decorating a room on a budget has its own unique challenges, but there are innovative ways to overcome a lack of money to spend. You could look to reuse old items in your house and put them into your kids’ bedrooms. Many of us keep old items of furniture in storage thinking we might need them again someday, and something like an old chest of drawers can be repainted and put in a child’s bedroom for extra storage.

The walls and windows of any room are important focal points, and in a child’s bedroom, there is significant scope for matching wall and window decorations with what the child wants. Consider your child’s interests and decorate the walls with such themes in mind. If you do not want to decorate using wallpaper, an alternative is wall art using something like wall stickers, which can be removed if necessary. Choose blinds and/or curtains to match the color scheme or theme of the room. A great addition to any bedroom is window shutters, and children’s rooms are no exception. The availability of different window shutter designs means they can be tailored to suit the particular look of a room. You can get shutters in colors that will match the color scheme of the bedroom. For instance, vibrantly colored shutters would be a great addition to a bedroom that is already painted using a similar scheme.

When it comes to designing a child’s bedroom, it’s important that you do a certain amount of futureproofing. Obviously, children’s preferences change as they grow older, and they may not like how their bedroom is decorated once they reach a certain age, perhaps because they regard the design as too childish or young for them. A great way around this is to decorate the room in relatively neutral décor that can be easily changed in subtle ways, without requiring a complete redecoration, as the child grows older. If you want to keep the future in mind, avoid themes such as farm animals or dinosaurs and focus instead on the color scheme of the room and the general décor because both can be changed easily over the course of time.

In conclusion, there are so many ideas for making the perfect child’s bedroom, but never forget to ask the kids themselves what they want in their room.

Why Having A Baby Can Be So Hard, And What You Can Do About It

Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

Even if you have children already, you may be thinking about your fertility. Women are only at their most fertile for a few short years. Perhaps you had trouble conceiving the first, or you had a tough pregnancy. That shouldn’t put you off adding to your clan. Kids are a gift even if they are hard work!

Some women struggle to get pregnant. They might spend thousands on doctor fees to diagnose the problem and get help. Or they might just give up. It doesn’t have to be that way. The reproductive system is an incredible part of our body. The brain, the uterus, the vagina and the ovaries all work as a team to make a baby. Then, of course, is our partner’s input.

So many people have to work away from home. Whether they are in the armed forces, or they are a traveling salesman, timing intercourse for conception can be impossible. You can identify when you are ovulating with an ovulation kit. This will help you work out when you are most likely to achieve successful conception. However, if your guy isn’t around, you’ve got a difficult job on your hands.

The most important thing you need to do is to keep your body in tip-top shape. Even if you’re not thinking about having a baby right now, over the counter fertility pills can help keep your system in good condition. Some women take them right through their twenties and thirties as it helps keep your female parts as healthy as they can be. The extra nutrients can be essential for reducing the risk of some abnormalities in the fetus too.

Of course, accidents happen too. If you have looked after your body, then you shouldn’t have anything to worry about when it comes to carrying a pregnancy. If you are of an age where you could get pregnant, it could be a good idea to keep your reproductive system in good health, regardless. Even if you think you might never want to get pregnant again, life can change in a heartbeat.

I love that I have been able to have my two children. But I know the heartache and longing that women feel when they haven’t managed to conceive. I wholeheartedly believe in trying anything and everything to get what feels right. It doesn’t take much to transform your diet and exercise program. But it could help make the difference.

Family life is hard and wonderful at the same time. But when you’ve had to fight to get your kids, then you know just how hard and just how wonderful it really is! If you’re having trouble getting pregnant then do take the time to adjust your diet. You never know what might help. A healthy body might still be infertile, but until you’ve tried everything, you might always be wondering.

At the end of the day, it takes two to tango. Your partner should be eating only the best diet and regularly exercising too. If you still need medical intervention after that, then at least you will both be in the best possible health to tackle the next part of the challenge. Good luck.

This Is How We Made Our Home Child-Friendly When I Was Pregnant

Here’s a special post for my readers-

Our home was anything but child-friendly on the day I found out I was pregnant. So, we had to make lots of changes during the following nine months. In the hope of helping some of you out there in the same situation, I’ve detailed the alterations below. You should take some of my advice and put it into practice. There won’t be much time for home renovations when the baby arrives. Indeed, you’ll spend your days feeding and your nights trying to get the little one to sleep. That is why you must start working as soon as possible. Getting your home ready for a baby might require more effort than you currently imagine.

Removing my partner’s toy collection

If your partner is anything like mine, he probably loves to collect memorabilia. I call them toys, but he doesn’t like that. To clear some much-needed space for the baby, we had to put his full collection into storage. That helped to maximize space in our home. I simply picked up the laptop and searched Google for suitable units in our local area. I haven’t let him bring the collection home yet, and the baby was born quite a long time ago now. Thankfully, the storage costs were not that expensive. I think we pay around $10 per week for the unit.

Installing stair gates

At my baby classes, the instructor made a point of highlighting the importance of stair gates. You need them to ensure your little one does not injure himself. Babies can get carried away when they first learn to walk. Most of them have no concept of danger, and so they won’t steer clear of your stairways. The gates are not expensive to purchase, and so you should get a few of them. You can also install them on the door frame in your child’s bedroom. That will make it harder for them to escape and run riot while you are asleep in bed.

Putting locks on kitchen cupboards

I was terribly worried about our baby getting into the kitchen cupboards. That is because we store bleach and other cleaning chemicals in that room. You don’t need me to tell you what might happen if they stray under the sink. We decided that putting locks on our low cupboard doors was the best course of action. You might think it’s a little extreme, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. We purchased the locks from our local DIY store for a few dollars. My partner installed them using screws and some basic tools.

14156686197_e33ee1c718_zKelly Hunter

That was how we made our home child-friendly when I was pregnant. So far, there have been no major incidences. We did have to place some rubber stoppers on the corners of our table when our son kept hitting his head. Maybe that’s something you should do before you give birth? We found out the hard way that kids have a habit of bumping into everything.

I hope the information on this page will stand you in good stead, and I wish you the best of luck with your new baby.

If your husband has a birthday coming up, then it’s time to go gift shopping. This can mean spending hours on the internet looking for cool ideas and things to get him. Well, that can take a lot of time and be quite stressful. So, I’ve decided to take out all the hard work for you! I’ve come up with four of the best gift ideas for your husband.

Movie Memorabilia

Remember all those nights you forced yourself to stay up with your husband watching his favourite film? Remember how he used to talk the whole way through each time, explaining everything in every scene? Of course you remember, how could you forget!? Well, all that will finally come in handy when their birthday rolls around. Think about getting them some memorabilia from their favourite film. If they’re a Star Wars fan, think about buying them a replica lightsaber. Obviously if they aren’t a fan, buy them something from the film they love. A gift like this is incredibly thoughtful and will trigger manly tears of joy.

Wine/Beer Hampers

Alcohol is always a good gift idea for your man. But there’s nothing special about giving them a bottle of wine or six-pack of beer. This is where gift hampers come in handy. They’re a nice way to give your husband some alcoholic treats while still looking thoughtful. They also make popular Father’s day gifts, because they’re so neatly packaged. Find a beer/wine hamper that has everything you want in it and give it to your husband. It will be the best alcohol related gift they’ve ever received.

DIY Tools

Consider getting them a nice new toolset for their birthday. No doubt your man considers himself something of a handyman around the house. So, what better way to fuel his passion than by getting him some DIY tools? Now he’ll have all the equipment needed to carry out DIY projects around the house. Hey, who knows, you might even benefit from this. Maybe one day you’ll wake up, and he’s completely revamped the house for you! I’d also suggest you get him a tool belt to go with his tools. Men seem to love having their tools on a belt, I don’t know why. Perhaps it makes them feel like they have a Batman style utility belt?

Sports Tickets

I’d bet my house that your fella spends his weekends watching his favourite sport and screaming at the telly. Well, you aren’t alone, my husband does this and so do pretty much everyone else’s too. If they’re such a big sports fan, what better gift than tickets to a match?! Buy them tickets to see their favourite team in action. If it means you have to endure live sports in a stadium surrounded by loud men, then so be it. It’s your man’s special day, so you have to treat him!

Any one of these gifts will make your husband’s day. If you want, you can get a couple of things on this list too. Just say that one thing’s from you and another is from the kids!

5 Tips and Trick of Cheap Online Shopping

how-to-save-money-600

Although shopping online is a pretty cheap way to get things, there are many other ways how to reduce a price tag on almost all products or items. If not, then there are ways how to at least keep you in a budget and won’t overspend there you can definitely save cash. Don’t know where to begin? Don’t worry anymore. Today I am going to share my personal favorite 5 tips and trick of cheap online shopping. Enjoy and save money instantly!

Shop At The Right Day

Timing is actually very important if you wish to save money by shopping online. Sometimes that timing can even mean a specific day of the week! How come? Most stores tend to give their discounts and special deals on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On the other hand, Sundays are the best to score cheap airline tickets then Monday is the most expensive. This also goes if you tend to shop after the season. I mean, shop for winter clothing at spring, or back to school supplies at October. That will definitely let you enjoy much smaller prices.

Don’t Be Shy And Use Coupons

Couponing and all the benefits that come with it is a great way to shop smart and cheap online. There are a bunch of different special coupons websites that all offers thousands of discount codes to use. As well as thousands of departments’ stores, or famous brand names too. You can even shop for real designer made apparel and pay much less if you use one little coupon! For instance, if you want to shop at Last Call store, look for online Last Call coupons at ChameleonJohn.com. It will instantly gift you a nice discount and an ability to enjoy high-quality and fashionable clothing. So couponing is definitely a way to go!

Act Smart at E-stores

Sounds weird? Maybe. But if you do one simple trick, you might save money without any additional effort given. All you need to do is to visit an e-store of your choice, pick an item you wish to buy, put it in your shopping cart and… log out. Then wait for a day, two or a few and log in again. Guess that, at the same second you get back to the store, you are probably going to get a nice “welcome back” discount to use. This works because e-retailing is still pretty new business and stores really want to keep their customers back at any cost. Even if that means smaller prices. So, here you go!

Sign up for Emails

Don’t be afraid of a little spam. Especially if you are dedicated shopper and want to save money. By subscribing to some store’s emails, you will directly and periodically going to get the latest deals, coupons, and sale dates. Sometimes you can even get special “first time shopping” discount. So in any way, it is better to sign up than not.

Stay Alert

This means that you not only have to shop responsibly, but also think before, during and after shopping. Firstly, you need to carefully read all terms and conditions before you shop. I know, that is dull and only eats your time, but sometimes you can find some “pearls” you wish you knew about before committing to one website or another. Also, remember that sometimes shopping online is not cheaper than in stores. Many hidden fees can increase spending and make the whole cost much bigger too. In short, just stay alert of any unplanned thing that might show up after shopping online. I am sure that you will be fine after all!

Drink Water Before Meals

Everyone knows the benefits of drinking water on a regular basis. But did you know it could be your secret weapon at mealtimes too?

Water has zero calories but will fill your stomach slightly. Drinking a glass before eating will encourage you to scoff less food, which will result in a smaller calorie intake. Quite simply, this is a fantastic way to beat our tendency to overeat.

Besides, staying hydrated is crucial for bodily functions too.

Encourage Guilt BEFORE Cheating

The worst part of dieting isn’t missing out on sugary foods. It’s the feeling of shame when you let yourself down by tucking into a needless cheat meal. Every dieter feels guilt after scoffing a packet of biscuits through boredom.

Rather than feeling guilty after eating bad foods, you should remind yourself of that shame before making the mistake. Custom fridge magnets displaying a motivational message are a fantastic little trick. Seeing them every time you enter the kitchen should encourage you to make the healthy choice.

There’s nothing wrong with the odd treat, but opting for healthy options in your daily life will make a huge difference. It will benefit your body and mind.

Make Healthy Eating Fun

The biggest problem that many dieters make is that they stick to boring plans. While fuelling your body with the right stuff is the priority, you must take your taste buds into consideration. After all, healthy eating should be a change forever rather than being a short-term fix.

There are many healthy foods available, the secret to long-term dietary success is to find the ones that suit your preferences. You shouldn’t struggle for recipes either, especially with the amount of data available online.

One of the biggest changes you can make is to start making meals from scratch. You can also inject fun into this process by making homemade pizzas with the children or completing other fun cooking tasks. Don’t feel guilty about injecting a little fun, it can be the key to keeping your diet on track.

Buy That Special Outfit

Many dieters vow to treat themselves to a new outfit when they reach their goals. While it is an incentive, you can make it an even greater one by buying the item now.

Seeing it in your wardrobe each day will help you stay on track as you’ll want to fit into it as soon as possible. Moreover, you won’t want the financial spending to go to waste either.

If you struggle for natural motivation, you need an extra incentive. There’s nothing wrong with using materialistic goals to keep you on track. If this is your secret weapon, you should embrace it.

Learn How To Make Your Home More Appealing To Buyers With These Great Ideas

Have you decided that the time has come to find a new home? Yes – then make sure to have a read of this.

You might be excited to move houses, but before you can find yourself a lovely new home, you need to sell your current home. But as any homeowner knows, with so much competition around, finding a buyer for your property can be a struggle.

11705613613_f0e475d1bc_cPicture source

If you want to ensure that you home sells as quickly as possible, the key is appearance. The nicer and more appealing your property looks, the more likely you are to find a buyer. If your home isn’t as appealing as it should be, don’t panic, getting it spick and span, isn’t difficult.

De-clutter

The first thing that you need to do when it comes to making your home more appealing is de-clutter. The less cluttered a space is, the more appealing it looks, so this is crucial if you want your property to sell quickly.

As well as de-cluttering the inside of your property, it’s also important to get rid of any clutter that is outside. Things like gardening tools should be stored safely away while rubbish and old furniture should be taken to a scrap yard.

Re-paint

The inside of your property should be repainted in all neutral colors so that it is more appealing to buyers. Buyers prefer properties with neutral walls as no matter what style of furniture they have, they know that it will match.

If the outside of your property is looking a little grimy, it’s a good idea to consider repainting it. If you can’t afford to repaint the exterior of your property, the second best thing you could do is pressure wash it. As long as the property looks clean, then that’s all that matters.

Clean the carpets and floors

If the flooring in your property is looking a little worn, you could replace them. Or, for a more budget-friendly option, you could have the flooring cleaned, instead. Often, professional carpet cleaners can clean old carpets up well, making them look much newer than they are. So if money is tight, carpet cleaning is your best bet.

Smarten up the garden

As well as smartening up the property itself, it’s also important to spend some time neatening up the garden. Before your property is advertised, you need to ensure that the garden if free of weeds, the grass is neatly mowed, and the trees are trimmed back.

Most of the gardening you should be able to do yourself. However, things like trimming the trees might require some professional help. If you have a look online, you should be able to find some affordable tree trimming companies in your area.

Repair or replace anything that’s broken

Once you have smartened up the property, the next step is to walk around the inside and outside looking for anything that is broken. If you notice a cracked roof tile or a hole in the wall, make a note of the issues and ensure that they are fixed.

The key to selling your house as quickly as possible is ensuring that it is as appealing as possible. To ensure that your property is as appealing as possible, follow the tips above, and your home should sell in no time.
