It is important that all people realize the importance of charitable giving to help solve some of the many problems that are plaguing the world today. A fundraiser in your community is a great way for everyone to come together for a good cause. Here are some tips for planning a fundraiser that will help to ensure success.

Depositphotos_25047523_m (1024x683)Plan well ahead of time

Many people have busy schedules, so planning ahead will help them to be able to fit your fundraiser into their schedule and spread the message to others. Make sure that everyone is aware of their role so that there is no misunderstanding.

Use ideas that can bring everyone together and make giving easy

A dinner fundraiser, such as a BBQ, can be a great way to get people rallied together. Local stores might even be willing to donate food. A charity car wash is another idea that requires little in the way of inputs. You just need a few people willing to work, a location, and a small amount of supplies. Live music is another way to ensure that others take notice of your event and cause. You might even plan an event with food and music so that everyone can have a nice night out and raise awareness and funds. You can also take on two causes at once if you want. For example, a fundraiser dinner or musical event can act as a food drive as well. You might tell people that they save a dollar if they bring two cans of food.

Get input from others in your community

You don’t have to do all the planning yourself. In fact, you really shouldn’t try to do all the planning. Others in your community likely have some fantastic ideas that can help make your event a lot more successful. If you are a member of any organizations, then you might form an action group to plan events. There are a lot of great causes out there that need help, so deciding upon one or two can be hard. Many people choose to fundraise for cancer research because it is a disease that comes in many forms and has a huge impact on the quality of life of a large amount of people. Research allows those such as the Curie Institute to work towards more affordable and effective cures for people all over the world.

Utilize social media

Social media, such as Twitter and Facebook, will make it easy to advertise your event. In fact, you can create an event in Facebook and send electronic invitations to everyone on you or your organization’s friend list.  With a few simple clicks, you can make it possible to allow others to invite people on their lists. This means you reach a lot of people very quickly, and you can even get an idea of just how popular your event seems to be so that you can more easily plan for it and make it an event to remember.

Follow These Fabulous Methods to Improve Your Kitchen

We all know how vital the kitchen is to the home and our daily lives. So you need to look for ways to enrich and improve it. Here are some of the best ways to do that.

Recycle

One of the key elements to improving the kitchen is to try to be more eco-friendly. This means going out of your way to embrace a greener way of life. Put a recycling system in place and encourage the household to get involved. This is one of the simplest forms of eco-friendly living. You’ll cut down on your household waste, and you’ll be preserving the environment as well.

Keep it Clean and Tidy

It’s important to emphasise having a spotless kitchen. You need to get a rota and cleaning regime in place for the kitchen. It’s the most important room in the home, and it’s the room where you prepare food. So hygiene is essential in this regard. Try to implement a clean as you go regime wherever you can. Set aside one day a week where you give the kitchen a full and proper clean. You’ll need to scrub the surfaces and make sure you hoover and mop the floors.

Take Out the Rubbish

You need to make sure you keep your kitchen clean and tidy at all times if you want to improve it. This means you’ve got to take the rubbish out whenever necessary. Of course, you don’t want to be doing this every day, but once a week should be perfect. Don’t let it mount up; when the bin is full take the rubbish out. If you leave rubbish bags lying around for too long, they’ll start to make your kitchen smell bad and look bad. Plus you may well attract mice and other pests.

Make the Fridge Smell Nice

The fridge is one of the essential parts of the kitchen, and it’s important you keep it looking and smelling as nice as possible. In order to do this, you’ve got to make sure you keep on top of it at all times. So once a week you need to take everything out and give the fridge a thorough clean. Think about putting in an air purifying bag or some air fresheners. This will leave it smelling good, as well as keeping it free of moisture and toxins.

Paint the Cupboards

Rather than buying new cupboards for the kitchen you can just paint your existing ones. This is an excellent way to save money and transform the kitchen at the same time. It’s amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do to revamp a room. Have a look at areas of the kitchen you think might need some work and settle on a fantastic colour scheme.

Increase Storage Space

A major issue a lot of people encounter in their kitchen is storage space or lack thereof. The kitchen can be a pain in the neck when it comes to storing things. So it’s up to you to create as much space in the room as you can. There are a few ways you can do this. Have a look at changing the inside of the drawers into something with better storage options. You don’t want to be rooting around for ten minutes to find which lids go with which pans. Also, you should think about hanging hooks up to allow you to hang pots and utensils.

There’s plenty you can do to improve the kitchen; it’s just a case of thinking hard about it. Most of these things you’ll be able to do with consummate ease. They’re not going to interfere with your daily life too much. So there’s no reason not to try to implement as many of them as you can. If you can follow these methods, you’re going to improve your kitchen a lot.

Great Hobbies Your Kids Should Try Out

Finding a hobby for your child is never an easy thing to do. But the advantages of them having a hobby can be vast.

Taking Photos

We all have cameras at our fingertips on our mobile phones nowadays, and that includes our children. So, if they enjoy taking photos on their phone, why not get them a camera for them to take more and better photos on? This is something that children can get really passionate about and get a great deal of enjoyment from.

It could even develop into a future career for them if they develop genuine skills in photography. The demand for photographs and photography is greater than ever. Every top website, newspaper and magazine uses professionally taken photographs. At the very least, it will help them develop their creativity.

Playing an Instrument

It’s understandable that some parents remain reluctant to let their children learn a musical instrument. The thought of having the house filled with the sound of a child struggling to play an instrument isn’t the most appealing prospect in the world. But it’s a skill that can be great for them in lots of ways.

Children who play instruments tend to do better at school and have greater prospects in later life. Talk to them and let them choose which instrument they want to play. It should be their choice, that way they’ll be more invested in it. You could let them take online guitar lessons or have someone you know teach them how to play the piano. But let them take control!

Joining a Sports Team

A lot of parents are worried about the health of their children, so why not factor this into their new hobby? By encouraging them to join a sports team, you will make sure that they get their daily dose of exercise and stay in shape. Childhood obesity is one of the biggest problems right now, so playing sports is not just a good idea, it’s vital!

But that doesn’t mean it can’t be fun too. You shouldn’t focus on the fact that playing sport is good for them when you sell the idea to your son or daughter. That’ll just put them off the idea. Instead, you should persuade them by talking about how much fun it will be. And letting them choose which sport to play is a good idea too, don’t put pressure on them.

Acting

This might seem like a strange suggestion, but a lot of children love acting and performing on stage from a young age. This is something that a child either takes to and loves or just doesn’t. If you quickly find that they don’t enjoy it, don’t put any pressure on them to carry on doing it. They should enjoy the hobby.

Acting proves a great outlet for creative kids. It allows them to take on a new personality and, in the process, broaden their horizons. You’ll be surprised to learn that children who act tend to learn a lot about the world and other people. It teaches them empathy and understanding. But most of all, it’s great fun!

Hobbies are important for children, so make sure your children have one that they feel passionate about.

Five Reasons Your Child May Be Struggling In School

When our child is having difficulty at school, we immediately think about the easiest response. They need extra attention. I need to hire a tutor. But before you spend a lot of money you need to understand the answer is perhaps more simple than you would think. There are plenty of reasons why your children may not be reaching their potential.

Bullying

If your child is being bullied, it will affect everything about their school life. They will be more reluctant to go to school. Their mood will be low. But perhaps most importantly during lessons their mind will be on other things. They could be being bullied during class or be worried about what will happen during lunch and break. Do not underestimate how serious the problem of bullying can be. It has ended tragically on many occasions. You need to get on top of it before it reaches serious levels. If a child is reluctant to tell their parents failing at school can be one of the signs.

Distracted

Children are easily distracted. Particularly young children. There is no easy way to find out if your child is distracted in class. You have to sit down and ask them. Hopefully, their teacher will pick up on the issue but sometimes it can be missed. It can be anything from a new child in their class or getting a crush. In any case, this will not be a constant problem and will quickly fade without any interference.

Eyesight

This is a problem that is constantly overlooked by parents and teachers alike. Older children know when they can not see the board or are having issues reading. They understand that their vision is blurred, and this is why they can not do their work. But younger children do not always put two and two together. They have to be asked directly. If you do think, your child is having sight problems go to a company like Costco for an eye exam. The cost of Costco eye exam is affordable, and you can sometimes find deals during the school holidays.

Bored

This just shows that parents are often pessimistic. While a problem at school can mean, your child needs extra help it can also be the opposite. Your child may be bored in school because the work is not challenging enough. If a child thinks work is too easy they may not see the point in doing it at all. Test your child on harder work. If they sit down and get it done you may have found your problem.

Bad Teaching

Lastly, we think this one is a little unfair. It is not an accurate description usually, but it is what most parents will believe. A better term would be “appropriate teaching.” Children learn in different ways. Contrary to popular belief no matter how much we study we will not all excel at exams. Types of learning need to suit each child to get the best possible outcome.

How To Keep In Shape For Your Kids

We know that keeping healthy is important. This is particularly true if we have children. We have to make sure that we are there for them for a long time. We need to know that we provide a good role model for them to look up too. We want them to keep fit and stay healthy, so we have to set a good example. But a working day can be long and tedious. How do fit healthy living into that equation. Well, you have several options.

Take The Easy Option

People claim any type of weight loss is hard work but this is simply not true. If you can lose weight by taking droplets of a substance through the day you can not complain. Losing weight without exercise, you say? Is it possible? It can be with the right diet package provided by websites like www.diyhcg.com/hcg-diet-kits-hcg-diet-packages/. Yes, you can try to lose weight without the fuss of picking up a set of weights.

Although if you do choose the quick and painless route we recommend research. Find out exactly what you are taking and whether or not it is safe.

Home Gym

Perhaps, you are in pretty good shape. You just need to shed a couple pounds and you will be happy. Then it sounds like you just need to set up a home gym and exercising routine. Buy some cheap secondhand equipment online and set it up in the garage. Encourage yourself to use it every other day and you will have a body most moms would die for.

Brave The World Of Muscle Bound Gods

Then again, maybe you are already healthy and would like to keep it that way. We recommend joining a gym. There are several advantages to doing this. Are you a single parent? You may find a fit new partner. At the very least you will probably make some new friends who might be mums as well. You can help each other with the challenges of bringing up your kids. You also get a little time to yourself which is not guaranteed when working out at home. Also, you will have people around you to encourage you to keep going. This can be important if you lack the necessary willpower.

Make It Family Time

Maybe you love spending time with your kids. You would never want to leave them. Even for a few hours a week. While we do not quite understand your mindset, we have the solution. Exercise with them. Younger children love going for cycles with their parents. Older kids love beating their mums and dads at sports. It is the perfect solution. You get the exercise you need and your children still receive your attention.

Eat Healthy

Of course exercise is not the only way to keep in shape. If you are not buying diet pills we suggest eating a good quantity of different types of food. Cut out the junk and up your dose of rabbit feed. Lettuce, carrots and broccoli. All the things that kids hate you need to eat. You can also get your kids on the same diet as you. It is never too early to focus on keeping them fit and healthy.

We hope you find this advice helpful. Good Luck keeping up to date with your exercise plan.

Home Repairs You Should And Shouldn’t Do Yourself

Homes are peculiar places. When things go wrong with them, they are either very simple or incredibly complex. Knowing the difference is important. There are some home repairs that you should feel confident you can do with ease. But others are a little trickier. Not to worry though because we are going to walk you through both kinds. That way when something does go wrong with your house you will know whether to get the tool kit or call in a professional.

You Should Be Able To…

Fix a leaky tap. Fixing a tap is simple. It is usually to do with a build up of water underneath. Be sure to turn the water valve off first. Then fetch your tool kit. Have a look at the pipe underneath the tap. There should be a u-shape with two large bolts at either side. Get a bucket and put it underneath the U. Then unscrew it carefully. Chances are the washer inside needs replacing. But you may need to replace the whole section of this pipe. Either way you should have no problem finding a replacement.

You Should Not Attempt to…

Alter your plumbing system alone. This can lead to serious issues. What do we mean by alter your plumbing system? This usually means that you are building an extension and trying to add a system on to that new area of the house. The reason we suggest you do not attempt this one is that it will probably involve welding and a blow torch. You can see why we would be a bit nervous about doing this ourselves. But there is another reason. If it goes wrong, it will cost an absolute fortune and could flood your home.

You Should Be Able To…

Unstick a window. We mean unsticking it without breaking it. Simply get a block of wood and wrap a cloth around it. Put it against the window frame and lightly tap it with a hammer. Do this at both sides and you will have carefully broken the seal.

Do Not Try To…

Fix your air conditioning system alone. Air conditioning repair usually means emptying a buildup of gas. These gasses can be harmful and are not something that you want to release into your home. Protect your family and hire a professional instead.

You Should Know How To…

Change a lightbulb. You would be right to think this is silly, but you should pay attention. If you are changing a lightbulb, please remember to tell anyone in the house you are doing so. Messing with electricity while this is going on should not hurt. But it will give you a nasty shock. Wait for the bulb to cool down and then unscrew it carefully. Replace it with a new one and you are done.

Do Not Attempt…

Big electrical changes. While unsafe that is not the main raise you should be aware of electricity. Extending an electricity line usually means you need the appropriate permits. If you do not have these and make changes you can make your house unsellable. However, we should also mention that making a mistake with an electricity can start fires.

Heed this advice and you can feel reassured that any home repairs you do will be safe.

EWC South Florida Summer Tip Sheet with Melanie Gilliland

Treat yourself to “Summer Lovin” with Melanie Gilliland, beauty expert at EWC who has traveled around the country sharing her expertise for internal corporate development as well as industry events/expos and European Wax Center for a Fun, Fabulous & Carefree Season!

Summer is one of my favorite seasons! What’s not to love, sunshine and fresh air? While many of us enjoy the outdoors, we also dread some of the beauty “must-dos” that come with the season, from dieting to revitalizing dull complexions and tidying up the hair down there. But getting glam in time for summer doesn’t have to be a hassle!

Follow this no sweat guide to revealing beautiful skin from head to toe, for the ultimate summer glow with the help of European Wax Center.

  • Goddess Glow: Beauty starts from the inside out. There is no need to go on an intense diet or cleanse, summer is all about fun and setting such rigid restrictions can be uninspiring and counterproductive. Instead, just incorporate more fruits and veggies to your meals and substitute sodas and juices with water. Drink plenty of water!  In the hot weather you’ll actually crave these eats and H20 since they are refreshing.  Not only will they provide hydrating relief, but when you incorporate these regularly into your diet you’ll notice a more luminous glow and BONUS: reduced bloating.
  • Tidy Up: Say farewell to the hair down there with a bikini wax. A bikini wax ensures you’re a smooth sight and lets you feel free to bare it all at the beach or any other setting that requires a little less attire. Be sure to reveal the beautiful skin around other areas of the body which are usually undercover like you’re under arms and legs. For a full list of services visit: http://www.waxcenter.com/waxing/women.
  • Show Off Those Curves: Hit the beach and strut your stuff! Go roller blading, enjoy a bike ride, just embrace your body and get active. Exercise releases toxins, again enhancing beautiful skin and it puts you in a good mood. When you feel good, your confidence shines through allowing you to have a fun, fabulous and carefree season.
  • Share “Summer Lovin”: This summer when you head to EWC to get glam, all first time visitors get a complimentary wax and even if it’s not your first time, anytime you share the “Summer Lovin” by referring a guest, you get $5 off your next service. They say sharing is caring, so what are you waiting for? Go get your summer waxing on!

Travelling is an amazing experience. You get the opportunity to visit various countries and experience their customs and cultures. Plus, you are socialising and meeting new people from around the globe. And, while you are doing that, you don’t work for three to six months. It is a dream. But, it isn’t as simple as booking your flights and jumping on a plane to the first destination that comes to mind. Travelling is a potentially dangerous experience if things start to unravel, so you need to be prepared for any problem that arises. Check out these handy travelling tips that should help you avoid any trouble when you are abroad.

Get The Right Visa

Make sure you have the right visa beforehand. Numerous countries around the world do not take kindly to foreign ‘aliens’ and immigrants overstaying their welcome. You won’t just get a slap on the wrists; you could end up in jail. As long as you have the right visa, and you leave the country or renew it before it expires, everything will run smoothly.

Take Photocopies Of Everything

You need to photocopy any identification or relevant piece of documentation. You won’t be the first person to lose your passport or have it stolen, so make sure you have a backup plan in case the worst does happen. Some countries will let you travel with a photocopy of your passport or driving licence as long as you have a secondary piece of identification. Also, your government or consulate might need proof of your identification. For example, to apply for a new, US passport online you need to provide proof of US citizenship. If you have a photocopy, you can simply send off the copy and wait for their reply.

Learn About Local Laws And Customs

There are places across the globe that are not as liberal as your hometown. It doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t visit them; it just means you need to be mentally prepared. Research what you can and cannot do before you go. Have you read the story about the tourists who stripped off on a Malaysian mountain?  It might seem like a bit of fun, but the people involved were accused of starting an earthquake, that killed 18 people, after angering the Gods. The moral of the story is different countries have strange beliefs, and you are subject to these beliefs while you are in the country.

Get The Relevant Vaccinations

Your body has evolved to bacteria and viruses that are common on your continent or country. So, diseases from other continents can be extremely harmful to your body. Vaccinations are essential, therefore, to prevent your body from contracting life-threatening illnesses. Most of them are simple and free, so there is no excuse.

Buy Cover

In case anything does happen to you, God forbid, make sure you have cover to get you home and to get you the best medical care. If you don’t have insurance, it could cost your family thousands to get you back. If they don’t have the money, you could spend a considerable amount of time in a foreign country recuperating.

Before you travel, organise your itinerary, and everything should run as smoothly as any trip abroad can.
