Back to School Shopping Made Easy... And CHEAP!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Giving Assistant, however, the opinions shared here are all genuine and shared out of my actual experience.

Saving time and staying sane seem to be my 2 main goals of back to school shopping this year. Something that didn’t happen last year. Taking 2 girls to a bunch of different stores that are flooded with other crazy parents and their kids, isn’t my idea of a good time. This year I am going to shake things up a bit. I have put together a few ways that I will be saving time and money this school year.

– Believe it or not, you might already have tons of school supplies lying around your house. Closets, desk drawers, and bins might hold hidden treasures that can save you money.

– If you have a moms’ group in your area, organize a swap party where people can exchange items for free. This can be done online or in person.

– Make social media work for you. I follow a lot of the stores I shop at on the various social media sites and often times I can score really great coupons that I didn’t see anywhere else. These coupons can usually be used online and in-store.

– Make your Smartphone work for you! Often times you can get coupons sent right to your email or via text message.

– Timing is everything! Always watch for sales and pair them with your coupons. You can still find a lot of great deals after the rush.

– Spread out your purchases. You don’t have to buy everything in one trip. Getting a few things here and there throughout the Summer will help lighten the load.

– If things are REALLY cheap splurge a little and buy extra. Kids need school supplies throughout the year and not just at the beginning of the year. Supplies tend to go back up in price once Fall is over.

– Since I am cheap and always trying to get the best bang for my buck I love using cash back sites. There are a few to choose from, but I recently discovered a site called Giving Assistant. They are a free digital loyalty program, over 1,100 largest retailers, avg. of 5% cash reward after each online purchase.

I am going to try our back to school shopping all online. Finding the best deals and bargains from the comfort of my own home (and in my pajamas if I want to).

This means I can find all of the best back to school deals on a site such as Staples and make money doing it. The sales are usually always the same as in store and I don’t have to fight the raging crowds. Easy peasy!

How Giving Assistant Works

  • Retailers pay them a commission for purchases originated from their website. Typically a percentage of the sale (avg ~5%).
  • For purchases originated by their members they pay the entire commission as cash back directly and digitally to their members.
  • For non-member purchases they retain the commission, and make a small donation to Feed America to give one meal.
  • Members are given the option to automatically donate any % of their cash back to any charity of their choice.

Giving Assistant’s even has a Cash Back Promise:

Double Cash Back, Always.
They give you 100% of the commission, unlike the other guys with just 50% of the commission.

My favorite part about Giving Assistant is the money I earn goes directly to my secure debit card. No more months
and months waiting for a check in the mail like some of the other cash back sites. Plus, the minimum payout is just $1, not $25 like the other guys. SCORE!

Check it out for yourself!

1. Sign up with Facebook or with your email

giving assistant

2. Choose how much of your cash back you want to donate to charity and then confirm it. Giving Assistant allows you to choose to donate as little or as much of your cash back to charity. Also, for each coupon used, Giving Assistant donates a meal to a needy family in America. This is possible thanks to the nonprofit, Feeding America.

3. Find the store you want to earn cash back at by either using the search bar or the list at the Cash Back Stores tab. I will be using Staples and The Children’s Place for sure!

Screen Shot 2015-06-30 at 12.11.48 AM

4. Once on the store’s cash back page, click the “Activate Cash Back Now” button to get started shopping.

Screen Shot 2015-06-30 at 12.14.19 AM

5.  Purchase and pay for your items. It’s that easy! All you have to do it wait for the money to automatically be added to your account. Happy back to school shopping to all of you and remember, if you want to save time and money be sure to check out Giving Assistant for all of your online purchases.

5 Tips For Planning A Wedding As A Mom

Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

If you never got the chance to tie the knot before adding to your brood, you are not alone. Thirty years ago, having kids at your wedding would have been seen as strange. But today, many couples wait to tie the knot until after the kids have been born.

For many mommy brides, the main problem is finding the time to plan a wedding while taking care of the little ones. The main issue is working out how to plan a wedding that is both child-friendly and elegant.

To help you plan the wedding you have always dreamed of, here are five tips that should help. You might have kids in tow, but that doesn’t mean you can’t plan the wedding of your dreams.

1. Use Pinterest for inspiration

Pinterest is an amazing resource and is ideal for using to help get some wedding inspiration. As well as using it to look at all the normal wedding pins and dream boards, you can also search for weddings with kids.

This search should bring up a whole list of pins and dream boards with images that you can use to plan a child-friendly wedding. Many of these photo boards are also linked to blogs and articles that have advice on wedding planning, so it’s worth having a look.

2. Planning is crucial

The most important thing you can do to ensure that your wedding is a success is plan, the more organized you are, the better.

You might be busy taking care of your kids, but it’s important that you make time for planning. Aim to deal with one wedding planning task each day, by doing that, everything should get done. If you really struggle with this, you could consider hiring a wedding planner to help you.

Remember, that when you are planning, it’s important to take your little ones into account. Allow extra time for things like last minute toilet runs and snacks, and ensure that you allocate time for naps and feeds.

3. Consider an all inclusive celebration

It might not be what you initially dreamed of but organising an all inclusive wedding will take a lot of the stress off of you. Plus, all inclusive weddings are often cheaper than regular ones, so work out well if you have a tight budget.

Perhaps you have always liked the idea of getting married abroad? Yes – then why not organize an all inclusive destination wedding? Destination weddings are great as everything is organized for you, all you have to do is get on the plane.

4. Get the kids involved

Flower_girl_(wedding)Picture link

Don’t shut your kids out of your wedding planning, get them involved. Perhaps your little ones could be bridesmaids or groomsmen? Maybe your child could do a reading or if your dad is absent, give you away?

5. Have activities to keep the kids entertained

As well as getting your children involved in the ceremony, it’s also important to have activities for them at the wedding. Don’t make the mistake of failing to plan things for the kids to do. Otherwise, you will have some bored, whiney children to deal with.

Set up a table just for the kids, fill it with coloring books, story books, comics, jigsaw puzzles, and lots of other toys and games. Perhaps you could also set up a table of retro sweets to keep them entertained, kids love being able to help themselves to things.

Just because you are planning a wedding with kids in tow, it doesn’t have to be any less fabulous. As long as you are well organised and make time for your wedding planning, there is nothing to worry about.

SOUFEEL Jewelry- Beautiful Jewelry For Every Memorable Day

Disclosure- I received the bracelet and charms mentioned below to facilitate my review.  All opinions are 100% my own.soufeel jewelry

I love jewelry, as do most women.  I don’t wear just any jewelry though.  I like wearing jewelry that is meaningful to me.  One of my favorite styles of jewelry, silver bead bracelets.  I love these bracelets because they are personalized and unique to the wearer because you can choose charms that have meaning to you, but I don’t like the price.  While I do own an expensive bead bracelet (you know the brand, the one that has the same name as that music playing app) that was given to me as a gift, I haven’t worn it much because I can’t really afford to add beads to it.
I was recently asked to review a SOUFEEL bracelet and I am so excited to share it with my readers.  Since I have the classic style flexible bead bracelet I opted for a bangle style bracelet from SOUFEEL.  I love that Soufeel’s bracelets are 925 sterling silver just like the more expensive brands but with Soufeel they are totally affordable.  These aren’t some cheap knock offs!

DSC_0033 (1024x844)Let’s start with the presentation.  I was so impressed with how nicely they came packages with a gift box and a gift bag.  Then inside the box each bead was individually wrapped in a tiny plastic baggie to keep it protected.  DSC_0013 (1024x681)Each piece feels nice and solid, not cheap at all.  I love that the beads are all 925 sterling silver and can fit Pandora and Chamilia bracelets but at a much more affordable price.  DSC_0035 (1024x681)The selection of beads at SOUFEEL is awesome and they are adding new beads every month.  For my bracelet I choose a dolphin bead because my daughters and I all love dolphins, a round bead with hearts and the December birth stone because both of my girls have December birthdays, and the Love of Swan charm that has pink stones to represent my m husband and me.  I think they look great together and can’t wait to add more beads.  Check out their beautiful new arrivals. Traveling this summer?  Why not get a suitcase bead to remember your trip?  You can even design beads with your personal pictures on them!

personalized charm
SOUFEEL bracelets make great gifts for the special person in your life.  It is such a memorable, unique gift to give someone a bracelet and beads that are meaningful to them.  They have everything from birthstone beads, zodiac signs, animals, religious beads, and so much more.  Give the gift of a Soufeel bracelet and start a tradition of adding beads for every holiday.  The 925 sterling silver bracelets start at just $25 and the beads start at just $3.99.  YES, $3.99 for sterling silver beads!!!  Who wouldn’t want to get one as a gift?

SOUFEEL has some great offers, too.  When you spend $59, $79 or $99, you will get a pair of free earrings, a free charm and enjoy a free sterling silver bracelet!  They offer free shipping worldwide with orders over $50 and 365-day return and exchange guarantee!

Dog Owners Beware! 5 Mistakes That Could Make Your Life Hell

Owning a dog can be beneficial to us in so many different ways that it is hardly surprising that (according to ASPCA statistics) there are between 70-80 million dogs owned in The States. They can be fun for the family, a friend for the lonely, and a helping hand to the deaf and the farmer alike. Unfortunately, not every doggy tale is a happy one, and some people have had a nightmare with their dogs. So what is it that can go wrong with dog ownership, and is it all the dogs fault? Here are a few of the most common mistakes dog owners can make that can turn their lives upside down.

Choosing the Wrong Breed

This is a certain way to make your life a nightmare. Consider your choices carefully before you bring a dog into your home. You will need to consider things like size, temperament, energy levels and ease of training. However you should also think about the cost and time of maintenance, as a dog that leaves you with no spare cash or time is probably a bad choice.

Over-feeding

This is a major problem for dogs, especially those who have no area to burn calories off. Follow the recommendations for your breed, but cut down their meal sizes if they lay around all day. Treats need to be handled carefully as well, as these are the usual culprit when a dog puts on weight. Use a treat as a training aid or when the dog has been particularly good; not because it is sitting by you when you cook dinner. A fat dog will cost you money, will be difficult to motivate, and will be an irritant in your life.

No exercise

A dog that has no way to use up its energy frolicking around in a field or on a long walk, will need some other outlet for its energy. This could mean hurtling around your house, chewing up your furniture, or even being aggressive. If you do not live near an open space, dog walking in the countryside is a great answer. A 5 minute walk to buy milk is not the answer, but a long walk around the neighborhood should give most dogs the exercise they need. Constantly trying to control a hyperactive animal is one of the main reasons that people give up on a dog, but it needn’t be.

Non-socialization

This is a simple rule; socialize your dog when it is young. It needs to learn how to behave with other dogs and human beings, and if it has no socialization it cannot find its place in a hierarchy; be it dog or human. Dogs often become aggressive if they don’t know how to interact with other dogs, and this can spill over into human relations too; so get your dog socializing.

No Training

There are many dog training tips on the internet, so if you have not trained your dog, you have no right to expect it to act properly in your home or outside. Dogs may sit naturally, but not necessarily when you want them to. There are basic dog training commands such as sit, lie down, and come, that will help you control your dog, but you will also need to toilet rain your puppy and train it not to eat your house and home. An uncontrollable dog is a nightmare for any owner, so make sure your dog knows what you want, and that you can make it do it.

Most dog owners love their dogs with all of their heart, and their dogs become part of a loving family. If you want to have the same feelings with your dog, you will need to pay attention to these tips; and avoid a doggy hell.

Why 50 Shades is 21st Century Romance at its Best

You would have had to have been hiding under a rock for the past few years to have missed the hype and hysteria over EL James’ 2011 blockbuster, Fifty Shades of Grey. But just what was all the fuss about? How raunchy is it? And should you get yourself a copy? Read on to find out.

The plot is a fairly familiar one. Girl (innocent virgin Anastasia Steele) meets Boy (devastatingly handsome millionaire businessman Christian Grey). Girl falls in love with said boy, only to discover he has a dark side when it comes to the bedroom. Girl discovers she kind of likes it, but just how far can she go for love? And will the mysterious Mr. Grey ever be tamed?

There’s a reason why this book has sold over 100 million copies. It’s fun and a surprisingly good read. If you’re looking for a work of literary genius you might be disappointed, but 50 Shades of Grey is the epitome of the phrase ‘page-turner’. Once you pick it up, you won’t be able to put it down. This is mainly to do with the relationship between the two protagonists. The first quarter of the book is a tense ‘will they, won’t they’ scenario, and although we know of course they inevitably ‘will’, it’s very exciting to watch it all unfold. When they finally get together the results are pretty explosive. But despite some critics being aghast at the book’s explicit sex scenes, by most 21stcentury women’s standards it’s actually pretty tame. Put it this way, if you’ve seen a few episodes of ‘Sex and the City’, you will have heard it all before.

Erotica aside, there lies a rather sweet love story in this novel. Anastasia’s transformation in the book from naive young woman to sultry vixen may not be entirely coherent with feminist principles, but it is mesmerizing nonetheless and many readers will find they identify with at least some of her personality. And Mr. Grey is definitely one of the most attractive heroes of recent times, even if he is a little emotionally inept.

Of course, the film — starring Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan — is a good way to tip your toe in the water, but it’s no substitute for the real thing. Purchase a copy online at Tesco or at your local supermarket or retailer. Then turn off the phone, send the kids to stay with the grandparents for a day or two, grab a packet of cookies and lose yourself in this very 21stcentury romance.
