During this winter season, a lot more people can get sick or feel run down. There are a lot more viruses going around and they spread easily in colder temperatures. It is important to take a little time out for oneself and take the time to be pampered. There are a lot of things that a person can do at home to take better care of their health over the winter season too. Here are just a few things to do:

Eat a Rainbow

Nutritionists say to eat as much brightly colored foods as possible. The more varied the colours of the foods, the better! Choose foods with lots of yellows, red, purples and greens. The more varied the colors, the larger range of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants too. This is an important step in being healthier over the winter season.

Taking Care of Skin

During winter, skin can get dry and dehydrated. If someone isn’t feeling well, and their skin is dry and cracked, it will make them feel even more run down. One step is to keep their skin hydrated by drinking plenty of water. They should aim to have at least two litres of water per day. This helps to flush toxins out of the body too. So if plenty of water is drunk, the skin should be feeling hydrated and clear. Drinking a lot of water can even help to get rid of the dark circles that can gather under eyes.

There are other ways to care for skin in winter too. Having a massage would help relax the skin and muscles that can get so tense during the colder months. It also helps to increase blood circulation which will help to repair any sore muscles. A way to do this at home is to use a handheld back or foot massager. The type chosen would depend on where the muscular pain in. They work so well and would cost less than having a masseuse come to the home. Check out back or foot massager reviews to find the best type.

Have a Bubble Bath

A warm bubble bath seems to solve most problems. In winter, though, it is important to check that the bath isn’t too hot as it can dry skin out. Choosing scented bubble baths or using essential oils will help to relax and rejuvenate. Lavender is particularly relaxing for the body. Using candles in the bathroom will help to aid relaxation too. It might almost make it feel like a spa, making one forget they are at home.

Preparing Warm Drinks

A warm drink can help people to sleep and feel cosy. Hot chocolate or even herbal teas can be a treat and can help everyone’s mind to unwind. It is a good idea to prepare a warm drink as you are getting ready to go to bed. If it is done before going to bed, it can aid a good night’s sleep. Getting plenty of (quality) sleep is another way to be healthier during winter. When someone is energized, they can fight off any viruses more easily.
