This year one of my resolutions is to spend more quality time with my children.  I’ve created this 31 day challenge to challenge myself and anyone who wants to join me.  Start on the first day of the month (it doesn’t have to be January).  See if you can complete the task of the day for all 31 days of the challenge.  I wrote the list to be completed in order but if you want to print the list, complete it in a different order, and just cross off each activity as you go, that’s fine, too.  Make it your own.  Go with what works best for your and your family.  Let me know how many you do.  What were your favorite challenges?  What were your children’s favorite challenges?  Have any ideas to add to the challenge?  Let me know!

I like the list. My two year old may not be ready for some of the things like to talk about bullying but most of this can become a daly goal. Thank you.

    • Thanks! True, a 2 year old might be too young to talk about bullying but even just modeling how to be nice to someone else is a great first step for that age. Good luck with the challenge.

  2. Beth Gibson says:

I am gonna do all of these!

  3. Teresa Davis says:

I really enjoyed this list. It made me remember that my mom did a lot of these items with me while I was growing up. My mom and I ended up being best friends as I got older.

  4. Abigail Rose says:

I remember when my friends mother would write a note to her and her friends on her banana every day for her school lunch. It always made her smile and meant a lot to her even 10+ years later

    • I’ve used a toothpick to poke a secret note to my girls in a banana before. Once they get to school and have lunch the message part is dark and they can see it. Thanks for the reminder. 🙂

  5. Thanks! I printed this out for my husband AND me. I can’t wait to complete it!!

  6. Sacha Schroeder says:

I love this! I am doing it! Thank you for such an awesome idea!

  7. Dorothy Teel says:

    I love the list and it has a lot of great ideas and grandparents can do this with their grandchildren and I think it is great for grandparents to write their grandchildren a letter about their lives and give it to a children so they will have treasured memories when grandparents pass.;

  8. Dawn Monroe says:

I like the unplugg electronics suggestion.

    • Me too! My kids are too connected and so am I. It is the age of technology but there is something about unplugging and going old school for a while to reconnect with your family.

  9. connie Tillman says:

I have a wide variety of Ages I think this is a phenomenal idea my kids are 15 12 2&a half and almost 8 months

  10. Thank you so much for this! I struggle with ways to spend time with my kids and these are all awesome ideas I didn’t think of before.

  11. What wonderful ideas! Thank you for sharing! I will be trying some of these out!

  12. Lori Thomas says:

Kwl idea!! Will be trying all of these. Thx 4 sharing.

  13. Lorayne Gothard says:

This is an absolutely great idea and a challenge. I will print it out myself. My kids and I spend time together, but we could definitely spend more!!

  14. Amanda Alvarado says:

This is such a great idea! We already do some of these on a weekly basis but it would be nice to add some in!

  15. tina reynolds says:

What a great list we do many of these now but what a great way to get even more special time in will be printing and doing with my three kids. Thanks so much for sharing

  16. Going an entire day without raising my voice would definitely be a challenge for me. Thanks for sharing this, it should indeed make a difference in many families!

  17. I do something similar with my kids and love it. Its so easy to get caught up in life and having a daily reminder to slow down and just enjoy is great!

  18. I love this! My children are still too young for a lot of the list, but I love the idea and can work it into our family’s current needs.

    • Thanks! Yeah some of the ideas are a little too old for younger children but can either be modified or replaced with a different activity. I am working on another list or maybe just an addendum to the list for younger children so if you have any ideas, please let me know. 🙂

  19. Great list! I’m going to do this with my 4 year old!

  20. A lot of these things would be over my two year old’s head but I like the general concept. Thank you for sharing such a wonderful idea!

    • Yeah, you will probably have to modify some of them or replace them with things for her level. If you have any ideas for younger kids let me know and I can add it to future lists. 🙂

  21. What a great idea. Will definitely be referring back to this list.

  22. I so love this list! I do a whole lot of them, but there’s a few I really need to do. Thanks for this!

  23. I really love this! My youngest is 8 and we also have my 2 year old granddaughter living with us while my daughter is deployed, so while all of the list isn’t applicable to Kennedy, it is for Gaby. I look forward to printing it out and doing this with the girls. This is such a great list!

    • Thanks! A lot can be modified for younger kids or you can just redo one that did work for a younger child. I am working on a list for younger children so let me know if you have any ideas. 🙂

  24. Looks like some great ideas for quality time with your children. Love the ideas on your list!

  25. What a sweet idea and way to help establish a stronger relationship with your children by doing just one small thing each day.

  26. I love this! I am going to try it, especially since baby should be coming at the end of the month & I want to make my 4 year old feel as special as I can before, during, and after his brother joins us.

    • You just totally gave me a great idea. I think I am going to make a new, similar list for siblings to do things together! Thanks! So how are ya doing these days Momma? Are you ready for #2?

  27. This is so sweet!

  28. This is a fabulous idea! I might steal your idea!

  29. Leah Shumack says:

Awesome ideas of things to do!! Especially right now with temps in the negative numbers!

    • LOL Send some of that my way. It’s been in the 80’s here which I know sounds great but I would love to see some snow!

  30. What a great list! I can’t wait to start!

  31. I LOVE this list! Thank you!

  32. Shea Balentine says:

Thanks for sharing! Definitely a great idea to start incorporating!

  33. Great challenge! I might incorporate some of these in my own personal goals.

  34. I love this idea! It’s sometimes hard to remember to do all these little things… great prompts 🙂

  35. I could definitely benefit from this. I need to spend more time with my kids and this is the perfect way, thanks for sharing!

  36. Great list. I love listing as it keeps me on track when I am brain dead. One idea I have (not sure if yours are to young for this or not) is to post a letter to your child on your own blog letting them know how much you love them and why. Then send them the link for them to read.

    • I love that idea! My girls are 8 and 10 so that would totally be something they would love. They both just had birthdays or I would have done it on their birthdays. Thanks for the idea!

  37. Leona Evans says:

    This is nice!!

  38. This is a great challenge for all moms thanks for sharing this one and best wishes.

  39. rod jackson says:

A great list. I printed it for myself and grandkids.

  40. Jake might work with me on a few of these, but being 17 I have a feeling I’d get some weird looks with others.

  41. Misha Estrada says:

This is a great idea. Of course, everyone loves their children, but some days are so busy, it seems to be over before I have spent much “quality time” with my kids. This would definitely help me.

  42. This is cute and really a great idea to connect with our kids. I might have to try this myself! My son would love it, but my teenage stepdaughter would probably go run and hide.
