This is such an easy “recipe” (if you could even call it that) that you might not even believe that it actually works. It’s called 3, 2, 1 Cakes or 3, 2, 1 Magic Mug Cakes as I call them. I’ve seen it posted in several places but the first place I saw it was on The Hidden Pantry. It’s called 3, 2, 1 Magic Mug Cake for obvious reasons. To make a 3, 2, 1 cake you combine a whole box of angel food cake mix with a whole box of any other flavor cake mix in a gallon baggie. That’s the basic mix. Then to prepare the cake here’s the recipe.
In a mug combine-
3 Tablespoon of cake mix
2 Tablespoons of water
Mix until well blended
Microwave for 1 minute
Viola! It’s that easy! Each service makes a little mug cake for one.
You can top it any way you like. Put some chocolate chips on top as soon as it comes out of the microwave and after a few minutes they will be melted and you can spread it over the top. Or top with whipped cream, frosting, sprinkles, fruit, or anything else you like.
I took the 3, 2, 1 Magic Mug Cakes to a new level with this gift idea. We made a mug for Father’s Day but this would make a great gift idea for teacher appreciation, end of the year, Mother’s Day, thank you, and just about any other occasion. We decorated a mug but you can purchase any mug you like for the gift. Then mix up a batch of 3, 2, 1, Magic Mug Cake mix and put it into a plastic baggie or cellophane bag as shown above. I then put that cellophane bag into another cellophane bag because the first one gets some cake mix towards the top and it looked a little too powdery. I just twisted the top of the first bag and pushed it down inside the second bag. (see picture) Tie with ribbon, add directions like in my poem above, and add a measuring spoon to make it easy for the gift recipient. You can even add a small water bottle with it to really make it easy. Feel free to add a baggie of various toppings like chocolate chips, candies, sprinkles, etc. The gift recipient will thank you for it!
Do you think this would work with sugar free cake mix?
I’m not sure but I’d love to find out. Please let me know if you try it. 🙂
