It’s great when you’ve got all afternoon to experiment with flavors, listening to classical music as you slice vegetables, stir sauces and cook meat but sometimes we just don’t have the luxury of time. While cooking should always be exciting, interesting and rewarding when you’ve only got twenty minutes to prepare dinner appliances need to be user-friendly, multi functional and fast.

Mandolin Slicer

These slicers are perfect when you’re hosting a dinner party, making the family roast or substituting say pasta for courgettes. Instead of spending hours chopping, slicing and julienning vegetables a Mandolin slicer can do it quickly, efficiently and most importantly uniformly. One of the main annoyances when cooking is trying to get slices of carrot, cucumber or tomatoes the same size and thickness. However, mandolin slicers take the hassle out of comparing portions as, depending on the blade size, it’ll cut the same way each time you use it.

Immersion Blender

Modern blenders are capable of so much more than their predecessors which were often awkward, unwieldy and difficult to use. Nowadays, you can choose from a mains connected, or battery powered one, and they don’t just make soups, sauces, and stews anymore. Stick, or hand blenders can help you make cake batter, smoothing out all the lumps as well as custards, meringues and smoothies thanks to incredibly fast processing speeds and the multiple rotating blades that function seamlessly together.

Garbage Disposal

While many people use bins, compost heaps and recycling boxes the ultimate weapon in fast, clean and hygienic kitchen maintenance has to be a garbage disposal unit. When you’ve finished your meal, simply scrape any leftovers into the unit and it’ll shred food waste so it’ll pass easily through your plumbing. Be careful not to put anything too hard, large or fibrous into the unit or if you need to, cut the item into extremely small pieces. It’s quite easy to jam, or break a disposal unit and calling out a garbage disposal repair team means time and money so keeping it clean and maintained is key. Do try to run the cold water when you use it as it’ll help items to flow through the system.

Automatic Coffee Maker

Some of us are barely functional human beings until we’ve had our first cup of coffee in the morning. If you don’t feel ready to take on the day until you’ve had your latte, espresso or flat white then a coffee machine is a must. While coffee makers can’t quite do everything, although they’re getting close, all you need to do is select or pop the capsule you want and it’ll do the rest. There are loads of different flavors, options and even strengths to choose from while designs range from classic, to the contemporary and strangely futuristic.

Handheld Blow Torch

We don’t always have the time to wait while the oven slowly, carefully caramelizes our deserts, or heats up to give cakes that golden brown look. Perfect for finishing creme brûlées, the torch burns the sugar to create crunchy, delicious toppings. However, blow torches can also be used to grill vegetables, add presentation when cooking meat and give steaks a perfect restaurant quality sear.

Four Things to Do in Your Twenties

Your twenties: the years when you’re old enough to know better, but young enough to do it anyway. And there are certainly some thing out in the big wide world that you have to do, otherwise, you may just live to regret it.

Travel Alone

Enjoy the freedom of travel while you can, and enjoy the freedom of being alone while you can as well. Without anybody there to tell what you can, and cannot, do, you have the room and space to be able to grow into a version of yourself that you never knew existed, but will soon grown to love. Specifically, travel to places where nature and culture is rife, rather than just going on yet another lad’s holiday. Listen to the child that is still within you: did you love Disneyland’s Sleeping Beauty Castle when you were younger? Well why not travel to Neuschwanstein, a Germanic nineteenth-century castle that was the inspiration for it? Or if you loved swimming as a child, why not travel to an area that is filled with rivers and waterfalls like Cashiers, North Carolina. Could even check some of the homes for sale in the area, just incase you’re ready to settle down in your thirties.

Take a Risk

You only regret the risks you didn’t take. And this doesn’t have to mean take a risk by jumping out of a moving helicopter (although that is highly advisable), this means taking a risk with your dreams. Don’t listen to those people who constantly belittle your aspirations and tell you to ‘get with the real world’. Those people who are happy enough to turn up to work every day, complain about it the most, but never leave. They are the people who are happy to help build their boss’s dreams whilst letting their fall onto the wayside. Don’t let them turn you into one of them, and certainly don’t their words of discouragement stop you from chasing your dreams. Don’t give up on the day dream!

But Also Be Clever

For example, missing out on five identical nights on the same place in your home city in order to save money for travelling sounds like a good idea, right? Well it’s easier said than done, because when your friends are badgering you to come for ‘just one drink’, it’s hard to say no. But sometimes, you have to be both strong and clever enough to say no. Your future, travelling, self will thank you.

Be Selfish

Finally, being selfish, despite what your parents always told whilst you were growing up, isn’t always that bad. If you don’t want to waste time doing something that you don’t think will enrich your life, don’t do it. If someone is trying to get you to spend all that money you’ve got tucked away for your travelling adventures on one night out just so they can go out and have a good time, say no.

It’s your life, you have to live it.

Your husband has been nagging you for years and you have been putting it off with every excuse in the book. The baby is too new. The toddler too grabby. The child too excitable. The excuses are ending and it’s time to embrace it. Yes, it’s time to get your first family pet!

Now, it’s an exciting feeling to know you will be seeing your child’s (and husband’s) reaction when you tell them that they can finally have a furry friend to take care of at home. then you wonder where you should start! There are so many different family pet ideas out there that you should pay attention to what would be right for the size of the home you live in as well as the type of pet that would suit your family.

Family Young Pet Happy Animal Cat Cute Love

Typically, cat and dogs are the first pets that a child (and husband) would think of as they are highly ‘interactive’ pets that can really be a friend to you and the family. Well, not so much cats as they pretty much don’t care what you do as long as you feed them and give them affection as they demand it. Dogs on the other hand are a popular family pet and here’s why:

  1. Dogs are trainable animals. You can teach them to potty outside, eat, sleep and drink in the same places.
  2. They are placid animals for the most part and are hugely loyal to their owners, so you won’t have to worry about them not loving you!
  3. They’re excellent for your mood. No matter how rubbish your day has been, the affection and love you would get from your dog upon walking in the front door will lift your mood.
  4. Dogs force you to get some exercise. The fact they need walks means that you have to actually get up and out of the house every day, no matter how bad you are feeling.

Dogs are the sort of animal most children ask for as their first pet. Getting an animal for the home is a great way to teach your children how to take care of another creature and gives them some responsibility. This can help them to mature and develop in a way that’s kind to animals and that’s exactly what you want. Buying a new puppy when you have children is a better idea than going to the rescue as you can train the dog around your child. Rescue pups, wonderful as they are, often have unknown histories and sometimes haven’t been treated well, meaning a visit from a company like Exterminador.24Hora.org could be on the cards before you’ve had a chance to breathe.

Trusting your family with a new pet, whether a hamster or a hound, is something that is a big step to take. As long as you ensure that you all share the responsibility of the newest addition, you won’t ever feel like it was a mistake. Grab that leash, it’s time for walkies!

When people think of taking a trip to Australia, they usually think of Sydney, Melbourne, the Gold Coast or the Great Barrier Reef. Though these are all great places to visit, they are missing out a huge chunk of Australia. And when I say huge, I mean huge! Western Australia is the largest state in the country, covering over 2,400 kilometres of land from north to south. This part of the world is prime for an unforgettable road trip, and here are some of the places you won’t want to miss if you decide to journey to this incredible part of the world.

Perth

pexels-photo-68704Photo Credit

Hands up if you knew that Perth is the world’s most isolated city?! Despite being so far away from the rest of civilization, this is where over a million people call home and it is the fourth largest city in the whole country. Many people fall in love with this area, and even decide to make it their home when they find good land packages in locations throughout Western Australia.

An unforgettable experience to have here is visiting Perth Zoo, where you and your family can see some kangaroos first hand. They even wander around on the visitors paths so you can really get up close and personal!

Perth’s beaches are some of the best in the whole country, but if you are heading here, make sure to stock up on sunscreen and insect repellent. Scarborough beach is one of the most popular amongst visitors, while Cottesloe is also fun for all the family.

If you are travelling with older kids, why not take a trip to Adventure World, the only theme park in the area complete with roller coasters, water slides and go-karts. They also have a few rides to keep younger kids entertained as well.

Margaret River

South of Perth, this is the place to go to enjoy the great outdoors including hiking, biking, surfing and other water sports. The other thing this place is best known for is its incredible wineries and vineyards. I’m sure that has caught your attention! A more family-friendly activity is whale-watching, which is a once in a lifetime opportunity for many people. There are plenty of tour companies in the area that offer this experience so don’t miss out if you are in this part of the world.

Monkey Mia

Spotting some wildlife is a must-do activity while in Western Australia. I’ve already mentioned kangaroos and whales, but another magical experience in seeing the dolphins at Monkey Mia. The overall area is known as Shark Bay, and access to the Marine Park here is totally free. You will want to arrive at Monkey Mia as early as possible for your best chance to see the dolphins. It’s even possible to feed them which is an experience you and your family will never forget!

Though the dolphins steal the show, there are plenty of other fantastic native creatures to spot during your time here including the woylie, mallee fowl, southern brown bandicoot and bilby. Though these may sound like creatures from Harry Potter, they are very real and here is one of the only places in the world you can come to see them!

What’s The Cost Of A Child’s Smile? Tips For Healthy Teeth For Children

For many parents, there is no better feeling that their children smiling back at them. However, toothcare is, from a very young care, a difficult topic of parenthood: While bruises are easily visible, it takes an experienced eye to recognize bad teeth. And it takes a superhero as a parent to take care of a child’s teeth. But there are thankfully a few tips here to help parents look better after their children’s teeth.

Mastering The Art Of Getting Children To Brush Their Teeth

For many parents, trying to convince their child to brush their teeth is an everyday battle before going to bed. Brushing teeth is a behavior that needs to be taught very early to children as this can help to make things a lot easier. Turning the daily drama to teeth brushing into a responsible habit can save parents a lot of troubles. At the same time, there is nothing more difficult than trying to convince a child to brush their teeth. There are plenty of ways around it, such as changing the toothbrush for a soft alternative, as children’s gums are more sensitive than adults. Additionally, some parents experiment with tasty child toothpaste, as adult toothpaste might be a little too strong for children. Finally, the best way to convince a child to brush their teeth, as numerous parents have found out, is to use a reward system, such as promising their favorite pudding for the next meal – which should be on the next day – or rewarding the child for every five or more days of healthy brushing with a little present. As every child is different, it is important for parents to understand their child in order to pick the best method.

Remembering The Importance Of Calcium For A Healthy Smile

99% of all the calcium in the human body is stored in the bones and the teeth. As a consequence, calcium deficiency can have a dramatic impact on a child’s teeth. Commonly, delayed tooth growth can be a direct cause of calcium deficiency, and can be diagnosed in young toddlers already. Defective teeth, such as weak teeth that can break or brittle easily, are also a sign of lack of calcium for children. If this is the case, the immediate solution is to maximize the intake of calcium through a healthy diet that brings a lot of healthy dairy products. Parents can also research the possibilities of using healthy and natural calcium supplements, by reading the AlgaeCal reviews, for example. Calcium supplements can be used in the everyday diet. However, it is essential to plan a medical appointment to monitor calcium deficiency in children. For older children, tooth decay and toothaches can also be caused by a low intake of calcium. In short, parents should make sure that their children receive sufficient amount of dairy products every day.

When Should Children See An Orthodontist

For many children, a dentist is synonymous with getting braces. However, braces are often necessary for children who have not seen a dentist early enough. Indeed, crooked teeth, overlapping teeth, or even a significant difference in jaw sizes can be monitored with the help of a dentist and can be treated in a variety of ways. It is important that children make their first visit to an orthodontist when their permanent teeth are starting to come out as this is the point when a specialist can already identify potential issues and look for solutions.

Are you looking for a new best friend? Dogs are known as man’s best friend because of their unfaltering loyalty. Dogs make wonderful pets, but as a pet owner, you’ll face highs and lows. It’s all plain sailing, especially if you buy a puppy. If you’re thinking about getting a dog, here’s everything you need to know about owning a pooch.

Choosing a breed and finding the perfect pup

Before you start looking for puppies, choose a breed. Although all dogs have similarities, they come in all shapes and sizes, and it’s best to do some research beforehand. Do you want a big, medium-sized or small dog? Do you want a purebred or a cross-breed? Do you want a puppy or are you keen to adopt an older dog? Do you want a very active dog or one that is slightly more docile? Some breeds need a lot more activity than others, and there are certain character traits you may find in some breeds and not others. If you’re not sure what kind of dog to get, ask a vet for advice, or contact some breeders and set up some meetings.

Think about your lifestyle and where you live when you’re choosing a breed. If you have a small home, and you don’t have time for walking, don’t choose a large breed that requires hours of activity every day.

It’s essential that you look in the right places if you’re buying a puppy. The Internet is an excellent resource for tracking down breeders but beware of people trying to sell puppies for rock-bottom prices. If you see adverts with prices that are much lower than others, this should be a red flag sign. It’s always wise to see the puppies before you buy, and also to see at least one if not both parents. If you’re looking for a pedigree dog, check out the papers before you part with any money or take the pup away. Look for reputable breeders, and trust your instincts when you go and visit the dogs. Look for somewhere where they are treated well, and the owner clearly cares for them. Ask the breeder about vaccinations, and health checks. Often, by the time you can take your puppy home, they will have already had their first set of vaccinations and a general once over from the vet.

How much does owning a dog cost?

It’s impossible to put an exact figure on how much it costs to own a dog, but it doesn’t come cheap. Initially, you’ll have to pay to buy the pup, and then it will need all kinds of accessories, such as toys, bedding, and of course, food. When you’ve bought a bed, food and water bowls, a lead and collar, and toys, you’ll have to factor in running costs, such as food and vet bills. When you first get your puppy, they will need a second set of immunizations, which will be followed by an annual booster. Experts, like those from Otay Pet Vets Veterinarians, also recommend regular dental health checks. You’ll also need to think about investing in pet insurance and obedience classes. If you work full-time, you may also need to add the cost of a dog walker into your monthly budget.

Vet bills can be very high, and they often come as a bolt out of the blue. We all want the best for our pets, and most us will make huge financial sacrifices if it comes down to paying bills to save their lives. One way of avoiding unexpected costs is to pay for insurance. You pay a monthly or annual fee in return for protection for your pet. Check the details of policies carefully before you buy. Generally speaking, the more you pay, the higher the level of protection. You’ll usually have to pay an excess, but this may be considerably cheaper than the amount you’d pay if the dog wasn’t insured.

Preparing your home

Puppies are undeniably gorgeous, but they can also be mischievous. Try and make sure you have plenty of toys for them to chew and play with before you bring them home and relocate anything valuable or precious to your bedroom. Put down training sheets and pads to prevent accidents on carpets and keep them busy. Lay down the law from day one, and show them that you’re in charge. Give them plenty of affection, and play with them. Don’t leave them alone for long. If you are popping out, consider leaving them in a crate or ensure that they lots of toys with them to keep them busy while you’re out. Some dog owners also leave the radio or TV on, so that the dog doesn’t feel like it’s alone.

Keeping your dog healthy

Most pet owners fall head over heels for their new friend instantly. This little bundle of fur will make you happy when you’re sad, and act as a constant companion. When you own a dog, you want it to be as healthy as possible, so it’s important to take the right steps. Pay attention to feeding guidelines, and make sure your dog gets enough exercise. Dogs can put on weight easily if they eat too much or they’re inactive. Try and avoid giving your dog your food. It’s very difficult to resist puppy dog eyes, but some human foods can be very harmful to dogs. The odd bit of meat or fish won’t do any harm but don’t make sharing your meals a habit. Dental health is really important for dogs, and gum disease is very common. You can keep your dog’s oral health in check by brushing their teeth, giving them specially designed chews, and booking regular vet checks. It’s also essential to keep up to date with boosters.

If you’re considering getting a dog, there’s a lot to think about. Hopefully, this guide will help you to choose the perfect pup, and ensure you’re ready to bring your new friend home, and start enjoying a new life together.

Whole Lotta Love? The Pros And Cons Of Owning A Large Dog

This post may contain affiliate links.
Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

A lot of people prefer larger breeds of dog to small or medium-sized ones, particularly in the suburbs and rural areas. Though Labradors, German Shepherds and the like may not be the easiest dogs to care for, they offer just as much joy and companionship as any other pooch. Still, if you’ve finally decided that you’re going to buy or adopt a dog, the breed is an important consideration to take into account. Here are the main pros and cons of owning a big dog…

The Pros

Dog Labrador Pet Hundeportrait Light Brown Animal

Source: Max Pixel

For a lot of people, one of the biggest pros of some of the most popular large breeds is that they make fantastic family dogs. Golden Retrievers and Labrador Retrievers in particular are known for being patient and playful dogs that are great with kids. Many other large breeds generally have great temperaments, and will be very protective of their family once they’ve settled into the home.

Despite what you may have heard, larger dogs can be very adaptable to their environments, and can make fantastic apartment dogs in a lot of cases. Provided that it gets enough exercise, a lot of large dogs will be happy enough to relax the rest of the day. Retired greyhounds, for example, can usually adapt very easily to an apartment provided they get an opportunity for a good run here and there.

Another benefit of owning a large dog is that they’re generally more receptive to training. Some of the most intelligent and easily-trained dogs are on the larger end of the spectrum, and many of them have a temperament which makes them eager to please their owners. If this is a big part of your criteria, then you’ll probably want to restrict your search to larger dog breeds.

The Cons

dog-1576497_640Source: Pixabay

One of the main cons of owning a large dog is… well, the fact that they’re large! While a lot of larger breeds are known to have a great temperament, it’s possible for any dog to show behavioral problems. This is especially true when they’re puppies, or when they’ve been rescued from a hostile environment. If you it turns out that you don’t have the time for some pretty intensive behavioral training, then you may find yourself having to run after your dog when you’re out on walks, or having to seek out a treatment for dog bite more than once. You should either take a long time judging the temperament of the dogs you’re considering, or prepare yourself for a bumpy and strenuous start to the relationship.

Another thing that can be a major issue with owning a large dog is the size of their litters. Larger dog breeds tend to have much larger litters than smaller breeds, and while there’s less problems with whelping, the aftermath can be a real handful. If you’re looking for a dog to start breeding, or you simply plan to let your dog have puppies, then it’s important to consider how easily you’ll handle a large litter.

As with anything, you’re going to have to think about the money your dog is going to cost you over time, and this is another major con of owning a larger breed: they cost a lot more, both to take home and to care for afterwards. Their food is going to cost more, as will their veterinary care, and even their larger chew toys, beds etc. Furthermore, it also costs a lot more to travel with a larger dog. If you’re planning to fly with a large dog, then they have to be declared as baggage, which will cost you far more than traveling with a dog you can simply take into the cabin with you. That’s not the only kind of restriction you need to think about when you’re planning to take your pet on vacations. A lot of hotels and motels bar any pets that weigh more than 30 pounds. If you’re planning on staying at any hotels or similar accommodation with a larger dog, be sure to check their policies in advance.

A lot of people aren’t aware of it, but larger dogs tend to live shorter lives than smaller ones, too. The average is between 10-14 years, compared to many smaller breeds which usually live to around 20. Still, the dog’s lifespan will vary depending on the exact breed and the state of its health before you bring it home. If this is going to be a big deciding factor, then fortunately there are many online resources where you can find the average life expectancy of different breeds.

cars3“Cristela is full of optimism and a positive energy that I think really comes through in Cruz’s personality,” said CARS 3 Director Brian Fee. “And of course, she’s a hilarious comedian, so that doesn’t hurt either. Armie brought a great combination of intensity and charm to the role of Jackson Storm. His charisma helped create a character you really love to hate.”

About the characters:

Lightning McQueen Video:

Lightning McQueen is world champion—a modern-day racing legend who’s riding high with five Piston-Cup wins under his hood. Suddenly, he finds himself faced with a new generation of racers who threaten not only his dominance in the sport—but the confidence that got him there. Determined to get back to the pole position, the #95 must decide if his love for racing is enough to fuel the comeback of his life.

Owen Wilson (“The Royal Tenenbaums,” upcoming “Wonder”) returns to the racetrack as the voice of the champion. Wilson stars in the upcoming Woody Harrelson-directed live film “Lost in London.”

Cruz Ramirez Video:

Cruz Ramirez is a sunny-but-fierce unconventional trainer at the Rust-eze Racing Center. She expertly arms the team’s talented rookies with cutting-edge tools to tear up the track—but she nearly stalls when her longtime idol Lightning McQueen shows up. While she’d love to help him find his way back to the top, she knows the competition is faster than ever, and victory is all about speed—or is it?

Cristela Alonzo (“The Angry Birds Movie”) was called on to help bring the character to life. Alonzo’s debut stand-up special for Netflix, “Lower Classy,” which debuts on Jan. 24, 2017, showcases the comedian’s life as a the daughter of an immigrant, touching on important issues like social class, breaking the glass ceiling and how she can’t get the hang of Zumba.

Jackson Storm Video:

Jackson Storm is fast, sleek and ready to race. A frontrunner in the next generation of racers, Storm’s quiet confidence and cocky demeanor are off-putting—but his unmatched speed threatens to redefine the sport. Trained on high-tech simulators that are programmed to perfect technique and maximize velocity, Jackson Storm is literally built to be unbeatable—and he knows it.

Armie Hammer (“Birth of a Nation”) was tapped as the voice of Jackson Storm. Hammer recently appeared in Tom Ford’s “Nocturnal Animals.” He will next be seen starring in “Free Fire,” directed by Ben Wheatley; “Final Portrait,” directed by Stanley Tucci; and “Call Me by Your Name,” directed by Luca Guadagnino.
