If you are in the process of moving home, you are probably facing the usual challenges. You will be trying to get the best price for your house while keeping your kids happy about the move. You will be making a list of things you need to do before you relocate, and you might even be starting to look at schools in your chosen area. Yes, moving homes can seem like a nightmare, but I can make it simpler for you. Try following this easy guide of steps to take and see if it helps.

Step 1: Pick Your Location

You may be moving due to a job or a family matter, in which case your hands are probably tied when deciding where you are going. But, if you have some flexibility when choosing the next place you want to live, you should look at locations as far away as possible. You never know where your dream home might be. It could be in a completely different country from where you are now, and if you are going to be relocating, it should be to a place that you love.

Step 2: Research The Market.

You need to ensure that it is the right time to buy a new house and sell your old one. Check the prices of homes in your area and ask around to see if people are having trouble shifting their own property on the market. You may find that houses are selling like hotcakes in your area so now would be the perfect time to put yours on the market. But, house prices, where you want to move to, are not as ideal. So you would be better for waiting until the opportunity is perfect. Or, you could sell your home first and buy a new one a little later. Many people do this while staying with their family in the in between.

You need to look at a wide variety of houses as well. It is important to find the right house in the perfect neighborhood that suits both you and your family. For instance, you may want to consider looking at special residential areas such as Manchester at Diamond Lakes. But, there are a whole range of possibilities to consider when finding your new home.

Step 3: Get The Best Price For Your Home

Getting the best price for your old house is all about making it look more expensive and boosting the property value. There are plenty of DIY tips you can use to do this. One would be to decrease the clutter in your house by putting away some of the furniture. Ideally, you want your home to look like a showroom with only a few traces of family comforts. So, give it a good clean and consider touching up the paint in any rooms where it has worn thin on the walls.

Step 4: Make A Check List

7932506788_68b31b00f5_zImage

Lastly, there is so much to take into account when relocating. You need to make sure you do not forget any important details such as being sure important mail is directed to your new home. The best way to guarantee this is by making a list and checking things off as you go along. It will make the whole process seem a lot simpler.

4 Expert Tips To Improve Your Smile

Smiling is brilliant. I smile, you smile, we all smile! However, for whatever reason, some people hate their smile. If you fall into this category, then read on to find out how to improve your smile!

Teeth Whitening

The reason a lot of us feel self-conscious about our smiles is because our teeth aren’t pearly white. Sure, we brush our teeth every day, but they still appear slightly stained. Luckily, there are lots of things you can do to whiten your teeth and get a dazzling smile.

The first thing that springs to mind are teeth whitening strips. These are little strips you slap on your teeth, and they help to gradually make them white. Most big dental brands, like Colgate, will sell whitening strips.

The second thing you can do is switch up your toothpaste. Look for one that puts the focus on making your teeth white. There are many whitening toothpastes around, so find the one that’s right for you.

The third and final tip is to brush your teeth more often. Instead of just in the morning and evening, brush them after every meal. Just adding one extra tooth cleaning to your day can make all the difference. You clean off the food and drink before it starts to stain your teeth for good. White teeth equal a much more confident smile.

Get Cosmetic Dentistry

Sometimes you might just be born with teeth that aren’t straight. Or, you weren’t given braces as a child and your teeth have now gotten wonky. As an adult, it can be a little embarrassing if you wear braces, and impractical. If your job involves lots of talking, then braces can affect your speech. There are places, like Mazza Center for Implant and Esthetic Dentistry, that offer dental procedures. You can get your teeth straightened and fixed to your needs. It’s great for giving you that extra confidence boost, and will improve your smile by a great deal.

Makeup

We all carry around our little emergency bag with makeup and beauty products, and it can come in handy when the cameras are out. Lipstick can really bring out a smile and make your teeth shine. The key is finding the best shade of lipstick to suit your lips and teeth. A nice rosey red is always a good choice in my books. It makes your lips appear fuller, and your teeth glisten. You could find that all it takes is a bit of lippy to improve your smile.

Smile Naturally

It could be that you’re forcing yourself to smile too much. When you force a smile, it ends up looking awkward and unnatural. This is a top reason most people don’t like their smiles when they see photos of themselves. Stop forcing it, relax your face and smile naturally. You don’t have to have a massive toothy smile for it to look good. The best smiles are ones where the person is relaxed and not forcing it too much.

By using some of these expert tips, you’ll soon feel more confident in your smile!

I Was Worried My Kids Were Getting Bullied At School. Find Out What I Did Next

This is a contributed post on bullying.

As a parent, one of the things you worry about the most is when you suspect your children might be getting bullied. In some ways, technology has magnified this problem a lot. For example, bullies can often taunt their victims via text messages and social media.

When you send your kids to school, you hope that they have a fun and pleasant experience. The sad truth is that, for many youngsters, going to school is like getting sent to hell each day.

I am writing this blog post because I was getting worried this problem was one that I would have to handle. Today I am going to give you an insight into my experience of bullying from a mom’s perspective.

bullying-679274_1280Credit

I was angry

When I first suspected that my kids were getting bullied at school, I became an angry person. I wasn’t angry at my children; I felt upset for them.

No, I was furious at the thought that some people could be hurting my kids. And I was angry at their school for not doing anything about it. By the way, I was going to storm the school with an armed weapon demanding “justice” or anything like that! I just felt that my kids got let down by their peers and their teachers.

I calmed down

Once I had time to calm down, I decided to think about the situation from a more logical point of view. My children haven’t said anything to me, so I just guessed more than anything.

The past couple of weeks before my emotional volcano erupted, my children seemed withdrawn. They weren’t their usual selves, and they spent more time in their rooms than out of them.

I decided the best course of action was just to ask them if they were getting bullied at school. Of course, if you ask your kids a question like that, they’ll tell you no even if they are getting bullied. So, my course of action was to ask in a roundabout kind of way!

7040908861_f56d66f8b5_zCredit

For instance, one of my kids always seemed to be starving when she got home from school. I decided to ask her “Why are you always hungry? Is somebody eating your lunch?”

I found out the truth

After some investigation, I had uncovered the reasons why my kids were acting withdrawn. And you’ll never guess what those reasons were?

One of them got upset because her friend didn’t invite her to a sleepover (she thought my daughter was away). And the other was learning, in secret, how to ballet! As you can see, kids can sometimes do things that make it look like they’re getting bullied when they’re not.

What to do if you think your kids are getting bullied

Of course, there might be times where bullying is a problem, and it is affecting your children. But, how can you find out if that’s the case and what can you do about it?

281006690_428aed61cd_zCredit

Typical signs of bullying are marks and bruises on their bodies and ripped clothing. You might also find their possessions get damaged when they go to school.

There is plenty of bullying information you can research to learn more about the signs. It’s worth doing some research in case you’re not sure.

If you know your child is getting bullied, you should speak to their school teacher. Awareness is the first step to resolving the problem. If your son or daughter won’t talk to you or them about it, you could have them talk to a counsellor. But, above all, they need to identify who’s bullying them so it can stop.

11143343_808900262541772_7611047412153163383_o (1)Last week my girls had the opportunity to take a class and create their own fused glass masterpieces at BANG Glass, a new fused glass art studio in Boca Raton, FL.  BANG Glass classes are taught by BANG Glass designer and instructor, Scott Avidon, a graduate of Pratt Institute with more than 15 years of experience in the industry working with such brands as Steuben, Bvlgari, Waterford, Kenneth Cole and Versace.  That’s A LOT of experience so he knows what he’s talking about.  My girls loved learning all about fused glass making from Scott.  20150728_102235 (1024x576)He showed the class examples of things he had made as well as examples made by other children.  20150728_102253 (1024x576)We all toured his studio where we learned how glass is broken, polished with a special machine, and also how it is melted in a kiln.  20150728_103309 (1024x576)The kids were all fascinated and asked Scott lots of questions.

I had always been afraid of my girls doing fused glass art because was worried that they would get burned.  That was probably not the best assumption on my part.  I guess I had always pictured it being something like the glass artists that make the glass figures at Disney and I thought there was flame involved.   You know what they say about assuming……so I want to make sure other parents knew exactly what this fun art style involves.  The kids get no where near the hot glass.  To create the fused glass art the children are given a piece of glass to use as their “canvas” and a bunch of different pieces of glass to create their design with.  20150728_110650 (576x1024)The kids can design their artwork on paper first or just play around right on the piece of glass.

20150728_110717 (576x1024)Once they decide how they want their design to look they use special glue gel to place the small pieces of glass where they will be.  20150728_113601 (576x1024) (2)After the pieces are finished and the children leave, Scott puts the pieces in the kiln, does his magic, and the pieces are ready for to be picked up a few days later.

Here’s what the pieces looked like before they were put in the kiln.

And here’s the final results-

My kids loved it and are begging to go back!  Are you looking for a unique activity for the kids before school starts?  BANG Glass is offering classes for children ages 8 and up on August 4, 6, 11 & 13 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. BANG Glass art studio and showroom located at 2600 N.W. 1st Avenue in Boca Raton.

The cost is $35 per child, per class and includes up to two completed projects that will be ready for pick up in a week’s time.  Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.   Space is limited so reserve your space, call 561-430-5179 or email scott@bangglass.com.

bang glass2Adults can get in on the action, too!  BANG glass offers three-hour classes for adults for $65 throughout the week for beginners as well as professional artists, where you can create a project such as a custom glass tray or bowl.  I can’t wait to make something myself, too!

bang glassBANG Glass also produces custom fused glass dinnerware, bars, tables, sinks wall panels and lighting fixtures.  Scott does some amazing work so if you are looking for some fused glass for your home or office, check it it out.  For more information and class schedule, visit www.bangglass.com.

Make Comfort a Priority at Home by Doing What I Do

It’s so important to make your home as comfortable as possible. I love the fact that I can relax and unwind at home with the whole family. Here are some methods I use to make the place comfier.

Change the Bed

Comfort at home starts and ends with the bed; it’s as simple as that. You need to take stock of what your bed is like and how comfy it is. I was having major back problems due to an uncomfortable and springy bed. So I took steps to fix the problem by visiting https://www.izonebed.com/. Now I have the most comfortable bed I’ve ever had. Every night I go to sleep feeling completely weightless and pampered. Plus, no more back problems!

Install Air Conditioning

Last year I installed air conditioning in the home, and I have to say; it’s one of the best decisions we ever made. It gives us a unique advantage of having a cool home through the year. And in the winter the unit can double up as a heater. Of course, air conditioning can be pricey, but it’s fantastic for keeping the place comfortable. Have a look at how practical it is to get an air conditioning unit installed. Then have a think about the cost involved as well.

Get Plenty of Cushions

Cushions are the key to a comfortable home life. When you’re sat on the sofa watching a movie you need to feel comfortable. And sometimes just the sofa itself is not enough in terms of comfort. So this is why I always make sure I have plenty of cushions to decorate the sofa. Two or three per sofa should suffice. And I put a couple on the armchair too. The trick with cushions is to make sure they’re not too thick or too thin. It’s important to try to get them just right.

Go Double Glazed

If your home isn’t already double glazed this is something you need to rectify. Double glazing is essential for comfort and enjoyment at home. It preserves the heat and traps colder air outside. Houses without double glazing can become very cold and uncomfortable. See to it that you get it installed immediately. This was the first thing me and hubby looked at when we moved in. We have since upgraded our double glazing a couple times. I recommend going with a wood finish that will complement all types of home.

Have Blankets on Standby

If you want to make comfort a priority around the home like I do you need to have blankets to hand. In the winter, it can get very cold in the house, and this can make you uncomfortable. But it’s not always practical to have the heating on all the time. So if you have blankets on standby, you’ll be able to keep warm and cosy. I sometimes like to use a blanket as a throw to put over the sofa. And I store the blankets close to the living room for easy access when needed.

I value comfort as one of the most important things within my home. You need to be able to relax and unwind when you get home. So it’s got to be a place of comfort where you can chill out when you need to. I make sure I have all these things to implement whenever necessary.

Home Furnishings That Ooze Comfort

Personally, I like my home to be comfortable. Otherwise, I don’t see it as a home, but more of a house because houses are colder and less cosy. When I come home from work, I don’t want to try and relax in any empty shell of a house. I prefer to sit back and relax in the most comfortable environment I can create. The way I do that is through a couple of simple home furnishings that ooze comfort. Take a look and see if you agree.

Corner Sofa

I like any sofa as long as it is comfortable. At the minute, however, I love the corner sofa. Whoever came up with this idea is an absolute genius. Not only can you maximise space in your living room, but you can also stretch out and relax with more than one person on the sofa. Conventional sofas are not big enough for two people to lay full out, but the corner part of the sofa is made with that in mind.

sofa-184551_1280source: pixabay

Wool Blanket

Normally, I don’t go near wool. At the minute, because of summer, wool is not a material that is going to do you many favours in the hot weather. Still, it gets a little cold at night once the sun goes down, so you need something to keep you warm. Wool absorbs your body heat to keep you nice and toasty warm. Just as importantly, wool is a lovely material to snugly into while you relax and do whatever it is you do when you relax.

Hard Bed

I like a hard bed because it is better for my back. Okay, maybe you cannot just sink into the mattress after a hard day, but you have to think about the bigger picture. Most soft beds are not good for you while you sleep because they promote back pain. A hard bed is different because it supports your body weight while you sleep. Give me a hard bed over a soft bed any day of the week.

Goose Down Pillows

Is there a more comfortable combination than a bed and pillow combo? You cannot have a bed without a couple of pillows to rest your head. Still, you have to pick the right pillows, just like you have to pick the right mattress. I like the goose down option because they feel the most comfortable. However, there are plenty of options to choose from and most pillows stuffed with feathers are a good decision.

Throw Pillows

Don’t let your boyfriend tell you that throw pillows are purely decorative because they are not! Let me explain. I have throw pillows on my sofa, and they are worth their weight in gold as a way to support my back. Even on the bed, you can use throw cushions as extra pillows to make sleeping more comfortable.

I Brought My Home Into The Future And You Can Too

2015 has brought huge leap forwards in technology, and I have started to use it to make my home more modern. I am not talking about styles or fashion, but instead gadgets and gizmos that have improved my families quality of life. There are some fantastic appliances, and technical toys you can now buy that will make your home safer, more fun and more comfortable. Here are just a few concepts that I have tried and that you can give a go for yourself.

design-673734_1280Image

Keeping Your Home Safe

I know that as a parent, your main concern will always be your children and your families protection. We all have that unfounded worry that one day something could go terribly wrong. But, you no longer have to worry that it will be a break in. Technological advances are making it easier than ever for you to keep your home safe. You can buy CCTV sets for affordable prices online now that will ensure every inch of your house is guarded by a camera. Having them installed on the outside of your house will also deter criminals from even considering a break-in.

There are also special tech locks that now open with the touch of your finger. Not only that, they can alert you if someone has entered the house when you are out doing the weekly shop. That way you will know exactly when your children are getting home from school.

Adding Some Home Comfort

You may have seen ads online and on TV about smart controls for houses. They say you can control the temperature, lighting and even music in every room of your home. I can tell you these devices are as good as they seem. You can walk into any room of the house and immediately the temperature can adjust to where the home knows you would personally want it. No more hot flashes in the middle of the night. Of course, to get this level of control the system needs to be set up correctly. If you do buy one of these clever machines, you will need to search for local certified electricians to set it up for you.

I know when I want the most comfort, and that is in the middle of the night. Luckily the new smart beds on sale now are perfect for this. They can record your sleeping patterns and tell you how to get a better night’s snooze. You can even get beds that have retractable mattresses. That means whether you are watching the latest Disney classic or reading a good book, you will be in absolute comfort in your bedroom.

Easy Living

Finally, the last thing that tech can do for you at home is to make life easier. How it does this up to you, but I recommend looking at the UV cleaning wands on sale now. For an affordable price, you can feel like a witch and clean a room with the flick of your wrist. I certainly plan on purchasing one sooner rather than later.

So, if you invest in technology I hope you see your home can be a dream. The future is now so start living in it.

We’re only on this world for a short time, so it’s crucial that you make the most of this precious journey. Sharing it with the most important people is vital, but it’s equally important to take care of yourself if you want to enjoy the ride.

Taking care of your body might extend your life. Even if it doesn’t, it will improve the quality of your existence. Besides, the benefits of doing it will rub off on other aspects of your life too.

Here are four simple ways to promote a happier existence.

Get A Good Night’s Sleep

We spend roughly one-third of our lives resting. Unsurprisingly, the importance of a decent night’s sleep is huge. For better or worse, it can make a huge impact on your waking hours. Don’t underestimate just how crucial it is.

sleep-375345_1280Source:

The quantity of sleep you get is significant, but it’s the quality that counts. That’s why it’s imperative that you find the best mattress for you. Your home is your castle, make sure that your bed is fit for royalty.

Good sleep will help you live a longer and happier life. It improves energy levels, your mood, and a whole host of other human aspects.

Take Care Of Medical Issues

The fast-paced nature of modern life makes us more vulnerable than ever. We often ignore the signals that our bodies give us, but it’s vital that we acknowledge and solve our issues.

Everyone will suffer from time to time. Leaving a problem will only exacerbate it. Treating it at the earliest stage possible will promote a quicker recovery, so that you can start enjoying your life to the fullest extent.

It doesn’t always mean going to the doctor. For example, back pains could be eased by home physio work. Read these inversion table therapy reviews for more information.

Drink More Water

Regular exercise and a healthy diet are key aspects of living a long and happy life. However, if there is one thing that matters more than any other, then it has to be drinking water.

water-332107_1280Source:

Dehydration will take a toll on your body, impacting a long list of bodily functions. Consuming the recommended two litres of water per day will improve the way you feel while also increasing your awareness.

Furthermore, good hydration will also promote healthy skin and hair. There are plenty of other physical benefits that will make you look more attractive. If you want a way to increase your general well-being, drinking more water is the answer.

Take Care Of Your Eyes

Of the five senses, the one that most people would least like to lose is their sight. Your eyes are incredibly important to you happiness and general quality of life, and looking after them is key.

Even a slight deterioration can cause a noticeably negative impact on your life. Even if you don’t take the rest of your health as seriously as you should, it’s imperative that you take care of your eyes.

The world is a beautiful place. Seeing it properly will certainly improve your life.
