Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid, Dublin and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine—the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit the Frog—and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais. The film stars Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon. Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” is directed by James Bobin and produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. Bobin wrote the screenplay with Nicholas Stoller, who is also executive producer with John G. Scotti. Featuring music from Academy Award®-winning songwriter Bret McKenzie, “Muppets Most Wanted” hits the big screen March 21, 2014. 20 Small Ways to Be a Little Greener

This post may contain affiliate links.
Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

greenerAs a frugal blogger I give my readers tips on saving money.  Today I am going to give you tips on saving energy and being “green”.  I am always searching for ways to be “greener”.   I may not be the “greenest” person around but I try to make changes as I can.  Even if they are little changes, they add up.  As a mom I want to teach my children to take care of the environment and I want to leave them with a beautiful planet.  There are lots of ways to be a little greener.

Here are a few:
1. Turn off appliances and lights when not in use.  Better yet, unplug them.  You can use a power strip to turn off several devices at the same time when you are not using them.
2. Replace your light bulbs with energy efficient light bulbs.  These light bulbs cost much less to run and last longer- that’s a double win!
3. Buy energy efficient appliances.  I’m not saying dump all of your old appliances but when you need to purchase new ones, look for energy efficient ones.
4. Bring your own bags to the grocery store instead of using plastic bags.
5. Use old T-shirts as rags instead of using paper towels.
6. Turn off the faucet when you brush your teeth.  Get your kids to also.  Children tend to let the water run for a long time when they are brushing their teeth.
7. Take a shorter shower.  Use a timer to take a shorter shower.  See how much time you can shave off of your shower time.
8. Reuse the fronts of greeting cards as pictures, postcards, or for art projects.
9. Buy a reusable water bottle for each member of your family instead of buying bottled water.
10. Wash laundry in cold water instead of hot or warm.  Dry your laundry the a line instead of in the dryer which uses up a lot of electricity.
11. Don’t throw away scrap paper, use it to jot down notes or let your kids color on the back of it.
12. Select products with eco-friendly features such as made from recycled materials.
13. Recycle all your newspaper, cardboard, glass, plastic, and any other materials that your local area collects to be recycled.  If there isn’t a recycling program in your area, find out if you can get one started or if there is anyone one near by.
14. Keep your tires at their proper air pressure to improve gas mileage so you waste less gas.
15. Donate items you no longer need/use.  Have your children donate toys they no longer play with so other children can enjoy them, too.
16. Borrow books from the library or read them on an e-reader instead of buying new books.
17. Cut down on waste.  If you don’t need it, don’t buy it.  Reuse, re-purpose, and recycle as much as you can!
18. Open your window shades instead of turning on a light.
19. Plant a tree…..or ten. 😉
20. Cancel your magazine subscriptions and read them online.  Also do your banking online and ask companies to send you ebills instead of paper bills.

31 day parenting challenge banner
This year one of my resolutions is to spend more quality time with my children.  I’ve created this 31 day challenge to challenge myself and anyone who wants to join me.  Start on the first day of the month (it doesn’t have to be January).  See if you can complete the task of the day for all 31 days of the challenge.  I wrote the list to be completed in order but if you want to print the list, complete it in a different order, and just cross off each activity as you go, that’s fine, too.  Make it your own.  Go with what works best for your and your family.  Let me know how many you do.  What were your favorite challenges?  What were your children’s favorite challenges?  Have any ideas to add to the challenge?  Let me know!

adventure time 3

I’ll admit that I don’t know that much about Adventure Time.  Sure, I can name most of the characters but I really don’t “get it”.  I guess that’s because I’m the parent.  But it really doesn’t matter if I “get it” because my 10 year old daughter does and she loves it.  She was so excited when I told her that another Adventure Time game was coming out for her DS.  She loves the other Adventure Time DS game she has, Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage?!! so she couldn’t wait to get the new one.

adventure time

Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW! is a brand new action game from the creative minds of Adventure Time series creator Pendleton Ward and game developer WayForward, and is the follow-up to the mathematical, algebraic, and radical success of last year’s IGN Editors’ Choice recipient Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage?!!  The adventure begins with a completely new storyline staged in the Land of Ooo as players help Princess Bubblegum save the Candy Kingdom by exploring the mysteries surrounding a massive Secret Royal Dungeon. In Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW!, play as multiple fan-favorite characters from the show with up to four players, including Finn, Jake, Marceline, Ice King, and more and showcase your best attack moves with special abilities and skills to defeat baddies throughout the dungeon.

Watch the Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW! trailer to see the action for yourself!

Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW! is rated “E10+” (Cartoon Violence and Comic Mischief) by the ESRB. To get access to all the latest Adventure Time video game news please visit the official Adventure Time website.

5 Lists to Make With Your Children to Promote Gratitude and Positive Change

gratitude and positive change

I usually make New Year’s Resolutions but this year I got my whole family involved.  I gave everyone a piece of paper and a pencil.  We talked about what a resolution was with our girls and we each wrote 5 resolutions.  But we didn’t stop there.  I wanted to start 2014 with positivity and happiness so next I had everyone write 5 things that make them happy.  I’ve noticed that my girls haven’t been as appreciative of the things they have lately so I also had us all write 5 things we are grateful for.  When we were finished with all 3 lists we took turns sharing our lists.  This not only gave our girls the opportunity to hear our ideas but also share their own and learn from each other.

After we shared our lists, we reflected on the fun things we did together in 2013.  We each shared a few of our favorite things.  Talking about our favorite things we did together made me realize that we really need to do more fun family things in 2014 so we then made a list of places we’d all like to go to and all the things we’d like to do together in 2014.

It was really wonderful to share together as a family.  I am so proud of my girls and the lists they created.  Their resolutions included donating to charity and doing community service.  They were grateful for family, having a home, food, and clothes and my older daughter said she was grateful for indoor plumbing.  It wasn’t on my list but I have to agree with her.  Hubby said he is grateful for internet and while I forgot that on my list, I agree with him on that one, too!  It was nice to reflect on the little things that make us all happy and fun to plan what things we’d like to do together in 2014.

It’s not too late to get your family together and come up with your own lists.  Let me know if you do this with your family, too!
