If you thought that starting your own business was going to be easy, you might be having a rethink one year in. Running your own business is rewarding when it goes well but can make you fraught with worry when things go wrong. From an unexpected bill to the loss of a regular client, running a business can be demoralizing and financially dangerous, but before you pack everything up and call it a day, there might be some things you haven’t considered that may just give your profit-margins a much-needed boost. Being your own boss means you get to make the decisions, and these might just be the best decisions your business ever makes.

Don’t give up

Nobody said it was going to be easy, and you just know that there is a market for your business. If it’s taking a little longer to get to where you thought you’d be one-year down the line, then that’s not to say that you’re never going to get there. Confidence in your product or service is vital, because if you don’t believe in it, then you’re not going to be able to convince others to do the same. Nothing has changed, your idea is still there, and you remain positive that it can work. Don’t falter now.

Take advice

From market research companies to professional business advisors, you certainly won’t lack for expert advice to take. You might find that the best way to make sure your business succeeds is by investing a little more to make that final leap into the black. This can often be achieved through the use of a business loan, but there are a number of varieties available, so make sure that you research exactly what you need. It might be that you are more suited to a merchant cash advance rather than a traditional business loan, and with advantages that may be more suited to your business model, it’s worth checking out the potential options.

Outsourcing is your friend

So many companies fail to outsource, and the business failure rate is a good indicator of who has used outsourcing and who hasn’t. Outsourcing is a simple yet extremely effective way of cutting costs and has a number of advantages that it’s worth checking out. Not only does outsourcing mean that you’re utilizing the expertise of people who know their industry far better than you do, but you are also freeing up your in-house staff, so that they can focus on the tasks that you employed them for in the first place. Outsourcing, whether it’s an IT management company or a qualified merchant service specialist to improve credit card payments using Verifone, is a valuable tool that many people are wary of trying due to fear of costs, but the truth is that the savings you make through outsourcing can often be the difference between success and failure.

With the internet able to offer you advice and suggestions on every single area of your business, it’s never too late for you to turn your company into something successful. Building a business can take time, and it can often feel like an uphill battle, but patience, hard work and taking advantage of the available tools at your fingertips, will mean that you have a greater chance of succeeding where others fail.

Can you smell something? Can’t quite put your finger on what it is? Don’t worry; I’m sure that we can find a solution together.

There are a lot of different causes and sources of bad odors around the home, and, thankfully, the majority of them are incredibly easy to get rid of. Sometimes, the hardest part is trying to find out where the smell comes from in the first place!

To help you get to the bottom of the various fragrances and smells around your home, here are some of the most common bad smells that many homeowners need to deal with at some point. Plus, I’ll explain what you can do to get rid of it for good!

Rotten Eggs

Can you smell rotten eggs? That’s no reason to throw out all of the eggs that are in your fridge, as it probably isn’t the eggs that are actually causing the smell. In fact, it is more likely to be caused by some leaking sewerage somewhere on your property. Rotten-egg smell comes from hydrogen sulfur which is commonly found in sewerage, so you should check your bathroom pipes to see if you can find a leak. If you do, you will need to call a plumber to come and fix it as soon as possible.

Mold

Is it mold that you can smell? If so, it’s probably because there is a lot of moisture in your home’s air, especially in the kitchen and bathroom, and it is starting to cause mold to develop on the walls. This can be bad for the building as themold can lead to some serious structural issues if not treated in time. You will be able to buy some anti-mold paint from your local homeware store. This just needs to be painted on any moldy areas, and it should kill off the mold completely.

Stinky Pets

Are you sick of your pets making your home smell bad? You might need to start bathing them more often to try and keep them nice and clean. It might also be necessary to shop this website to get a scent machine. The pleasant fragrance should be enough to completely cover up any smells that your pets bring into your home.

A Chemical Smell

If you start to smell any chemicals, it could be a sign that you are storing yours somewhere that is too warm. Ideally, all chemicals, such as household cleaners and bleaches, need to be kept in cool locations. The best storage areas are in the basement, your shed, or in the garage. As long as they are kept away from direct heat and sunlight, they should be fine.

Dirty Appliances

Don’t forget that you need to clean your cleaning appliances, such as your dishwasher, fairly often. Otherwise, they’ll get quite dirty and could give off an odor. To clean a dishwasher, just set it off with just a cup of water and baking soda in. These natural ingredients will clean it as well as any cleaning product.

Say goodbye to awful smells in your home!

We all know that puppies are full of energy. From the time they wake up to the time they go to bed, they can’t help but be enthusiastic. It’s one of the reasons we’re dog people. The love they emit is like no other animal, including human beings at points! As an owner, it’s imperative that you give them the opportunity to run and jump and play and release the tension. Otherwise, the energy will turn into stress and will have a negative effect on their mental and physical health. If you’re looking for puppy-friendly inspiration, the ideas below should help.

Jog/Stroll/Canter

However you like to move, the pup will come along for the ride too. Have you ever seen the people jogging down the road with their dog ambling by their side? It looks as if the pooch is struggling to keep up, but remember that dogs are faster than humans. If they want to, they can turn on the afterburners and sprint off into the distance, dragging their owner along with them! Dog tips by Nina Lyman suggest using a quality leash for safety and comfort reasons. That way, every time you work out, the dog can participate also. Think of it as an excuse to exercise more. After all, it’s for the sake of the little cutie.

Go To The Park/Beach

Whichever one is closer is fine, or whichever one exists in the vicinity. Not everyone is lucky enough to live next to a beach. Whereas the first tip involved dog and owner side-by-side, this is far less strenuous for the human. In this case, you can simply let the pooch off the leash and watch as they bound around on the sand or grass. Now, it’s vital that you are attentive because there are dangers. Plenty of dogs on beaches, for example, swim too far out and get stuck. At the park, they have been known to rush children. It should be fine though as long as you know their location.

Play Hide And Seek

Who doesn’t like a session of this family favorite? Canines love it too because they get to hone their natural instincts. Hide and seek, for instance, heightens their hunting senses. Plus, it allows them to use their strong sense of smell to track their “prey.” This is a two-player game, so you’ll need a friend or your partner to help. Start by holding a pair of hands over the dog’s eyes while one of you finds a hiding place. Then, when the pooch is on the loose, quietly say he/her name until it rumbles you.

Train

One brilliant way to release energy is to listen and do. Quite simply, these are the things dog do when they are learning the rules of the house. “Sit”, “lie down” and “roll over” are commands that involve physical activity. The tricks should get more and more complex as the dog’s level of ability grows. As far as exercise goes, this is up there as one of the best as it combines activity with practicality.

What are the activities you like to partake in with your pet?

Here Comes the Sun! Get Your Garden Summer-Ready

After a long cold winter and the beginnings of spring have passed, you may now be starting to turn your attention to summer – a time when you can enjoy your garden. But after so many months not in use, there are one or two jobs that you will need to complete to make sure that it is totally ready for the weeks and months ahead. Do these and you will have an outdoor space that will be the envy of your neighbours and one that will be celebrated by your friends and family. So, here are a few summer jobs that you can complete to get your garden back to its best for the warm weather ahead.

Give Your Lawn a Bit of TLC

There is nothing like a neatly mowed lawn to form the foundation of your outdoor space, and you should make sure that yours is able to thrive after enduring the winter. You will need to start by resowing any dry patches, aerating it to encourage the growth of roots, and raking it thoroughly to allow light and water to reach the soil comfortably. You will also need to remove any unwanted weeds which have sprouted up over the past few months. When you are mowing your lawn, you should restrict the amount that you take off the top to around 1cm. If you cut it too short, it simply won’t look healthy, luscious and thriving. Finally, you can finish off the job by using a strimmer to tidy up the edges.

Get Rid of Weeds

We mentioned this job briefly in the last section, but now, we are going to go into more detail about it. It may feel like the job of taking care of weeds never ends, but if you are going to introduce any plants into your garden space (particularly woody ones), you should make sure that you check them carefully so that you are not introducing any parasites into your garden. If you find that you have left it too late and weeds are overrunning your garden, you could always invest in a specifically-designed weed-control product.

Clear Out the Shed

pexels-photo-723876Photo Credit

Since you have probably already been spring cleaning the rest of your house, it makes sense that you do the same to your shed. Otherwise, you are going to find it impossible to get the things that you need. To start off with, you could remove everything from your shed. This way, you can clearly see which items are worth keeping and which ones have seen better days and it is time to throw them away. If you have acquired a lot of stuff over the years, you are going to need to be ruthless in your approach. Since the shed is empty, this provides you with the ideal opportunity to clean it out, before putting everything back in an organised fashion that allows you to locate it all easily.

Start Any Big Projects

If you have any big projects planned for the summer, it is better to start them sooner rather than later. For example, you may be wanting to add a patio or some decking to your garden, and you need to give yourself the time to complete the job well. Think about whether you are going to handle the majority of the job yourself or if you are going to call in the experts like http://www.stylemasterpatios.com.au/. Give yourself plenty of time to complete the big project and you are much more likely to end up with a finished product of which you can be truly proud.

Clean Out the Barbecue

If you are planning to have some outdoor parties during the summer months, odds are that you will want to get out the barbecue. Depending on what type of model you have, some of them can be extremely difficult to clean out properly – especially if it has been affected by harsh winter conditions. When it comes to masonry barbecues, it is unlikely that you will have all that much to do, but you may have to scrape off any rust which has built up if the weather has been particularly wet. If you are lucky, it may just be the case of giving your barbecue a little spring clean and dusting down. However, if the job is going to be more intensive, it is worth finding out about it now – so don’t delay another second!

Sort Out the Garden Furniture

Another key component involved in entertaining is the garden furniture, and you also need to ensure that this is all in good condition. Hopefully, you have stored them away during the winter months – or at least the cushions! If not, you will probably need to put in some more work in ensuring that they are brought back to a good condition. Give the frames of the furniture a good inspection in case any of the wood has rotted away, which could then lead to a nasty fall.

Paint and Treat Your Garden Fence

pexels-photo-113726Photo Credit

The winter months may not have been all that kind to your garden fence, which is why it is so important that you get it back into tip-top condition as soon as you can. So, this may be the time to give it a lick of paint. Instead of the standard brown and beige colors, you could go with something which is a little more out there to impress your guests. To make sure that it is protected as best it can be, use a treatment like creosote.

Provide Some Shade for Your Guests

For the days when the sun becomes overbearing, you need to think about the ways that you are going to offer some shade to your guests. There are a number of different ways of doing this including investing in awnings or a garden parasol. If you are looking for a solution which is going to stand the test of time, you could always look into building a pergola with some train climbers going up it. Essentially, it is worth looking into some creative solutions to the issue of keeping the sun at bay.

Let There Be Light (and Heat)

When the sun goes down and you don’t want the party to stop just yet, you need to think closely about the twin issues of light and heat. If you are looking for a natural solution to warming up your guests, you could always look into creating a cosy fire pit area. Otherwise, plenty of advancements have been made in the past few years in the world of outdoor heaters, so check out what is on the market. As for lighting, there are plenty of different options including lanterns, fairy lights, and standing lamps. However, if you are looking for an eco-friendly solution, you could look into getting some solar panel lights.

Create a Living Room Environment

pexels-photo-279652Photo Credit

When you are creating an entertaining area where your guests can relax, you should think about styling it on a living room so that they can enjoy maximum comfort. This doesn’t have to be an effect which is too complicated to create – you could simply invest in some scatter cushions and rugs for the area. Make sure that you have some sort of shelter so that your guests are protected if the skies do happen to open.

Add Some Color and Scent

Colour is one of the first things that you notice when you step outside to admire a garden area. If you find it difficult to grow and maintain plants, you could always look into getting some container plants and hanging baskets. When it comes to the flowers around your entertaining area, you should choose some which give off fine fragrances like roses and jasmine. Instantly, you will create the effect of being in paradise.

Introduce Some Personality into the Landscape

The final piece of advice that we are going to discuss in more detail is bringing some personality into the landscape. As well as the natural plants and flowers that you introduce, there are also plenty of ways of doing this with the water features, statues, benches, wind chimes, lighting – the possibilities are endless. You don’t have to introduce everything all at once. Simply adding a feature or two on semi regular basis will add interest to your garden and ensure that you don’t become bored with the space.

Of course, the quality of your garden space really depends on how much time and money that you have to spare, but these are just a few ideas to spark off your imagination. Even though we are still a couple of months away from summer, it makes sense that you start early so that your garden is all ready to go when the warmer months roll around. Create a garden that you love, and you will want to spend as much time out there as you can.

As a huge animal lover, I just love the Disneynature movies. I learn so much from watching them and the animals are always so adorable. I can’t wait for the newest one. Disneynature’s all-new feature film PENGUINS is a coming-of-age story about an Adélie penguin named Steve who joins millions of fellow males in the icy Antarctic spring on a quest to build a suitable nest, find a life partner and start a family. None of it comes easily for him, especially considering he’s targeted by everything from killer whales to leopard seals, who unapologetically threaten his happily ever after. From the filmmaking team behind BEARS and CHIMPANZEE, Disneynature’s PENGUINS opens in theaters nationwide in time for Earth Day 2019.

Creating a Wedding Gift Registry for All Budgets

This post may contain affiliate links.
Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

When creating your wedding gift registry, there are a variety of factors that you will need to consider beforehand. Knowing the type of gifts you want to receive will help your friends and family know what to buy.

Type of Gift Lists

Before you decide on your wedding gift registry, you will need to take time to make a plan that can give you a better indication of how you want your wedding gift list to look. There are a variety of different wedding list companies online with each company offering specific types of services and rules. So, make sure you do as much research as you can, so you can select the right one for you.

Getting Advice

Before creating your gift registry list, it could be worth speaking to a recently married couple who will be able to give you a firsthand insight into what route they went down and how they went about creating their list. Getting useful tips and ideas will enable you to implement them in your own list and ensure you have a list that is suitable and relevant for all guests.

Knowing Budgets

For your gift registry to be as fair as possible, you will need to take the time to analyze your guest’s budgets. There is no point only selecting expensive items if your guests cannot afford them. A wedding should be a fun and exciting experience for everyone attending, so try not to put too much pressure on your guests as they may feel obliged to spend more money than they have. Having a wide choice of gifts will give your guests more options.

Be Realistic

If you decide to put an extensive number of gifts on your list, it is important that you stay realistic and know that you may not get every gift you want. It can be easy to get carried away and put anything and everything on your list so be aware that your guests may not be able to financially afford every gift you desire. It is important to bear in mind that each guest will have different circumstances so try and be appreciative of whatever you receive.

Leave Enough Time

It is recommended to create your gift registry list at least six months before the big day. Starting your list well in advance will give your guests plenty of time to pick and choose a gift for you. The longer you leave setting up a list, the more of a risk you face of gifts being out of stock or guests not having enough time to pick the right gift. Also, choosing who to host your gift list can take time so make sure you begin as early as possible to avoid any problems. Websites like Ourwishingwell.Com can help you get started.

Always make sure to consider every guest who is coming to your wedding. This way, you can get more of an idea of the types of gifts that will be relevant and suitable for your friends and family to buy.

A Closer Bond With Your Kids In Just 24 Hours? Here’s How

pexels-photo-701014Photo credit

What could you change in just one day? Many of us accept the various status quo in our lives because we don’t feel that we have the time, energy to change them. But that approach couldn’t be more wrong. In fact, many things can completely change in the space of 24 hours, and we have the ability to affect positive changes in our lives even in such a small amount of time. One of the things a lot of people wish to improve is their relationship with their children – and even this is possible in a short space of time. Modern families tend to have fast-paced schedules, with jobs, school commitments and children’s hobbies leaving little space for simple togetherness. Focusing on reconnecting is hugely important amid all this rush –  and the good news is it doesn’t need a pricey vacation. It needs you, your child and 24 hours.

Get Involved in Their Games

Often, we rush through our lives ticking of chores, mealtimes, bath and bedtime like some robot. And while routines and consistency are hugely important for a child’s emotional development, so too is allowing time for unstructured play. Often, we are guilty of dismissing this as unimportant or inconsequential, but the truth is far from that. Creative play allows children to discover more about the world, work through their feelings and develop their thoughts. So next time your child begins a game of imaginative play, why not simply join in? Surrender to the moment and create some bonding time.

Take Them On A Day Out

Days out are one of the fondest childhood memories many of us have, so it’s only right to prioritise them using vacation time or weekends. A day out can range from a simple trip to the ice-cream parlour, or taking a picnic to the beach, to a theatre show or event. Use The Ticket Merchant to alert you to deals on exciting events coming up in your area, or think about ways to make the every day memorable. You don’t have to spend lots of cash – simply going on a bug safari or a trip to the library can be special if you make it.

Talk About Their Feelings

Helping our children to work through and talk about their emotions is a valuable gift, and can do a lot to make them feel closer to you. Many of us don’t feel comfortable talking about these topics, but we owe it to our kids to find out how to get comfortable with talking about emotions. They need our guidance to successfully navigate complex situations that they may not have words for. It will help them to feel understood, heard and supported and let them know that they can always come to you with any problems. Use easy-to-understand, age-appropriate examples from your own life to show them how to resolve their challenges.

Get Them Involved

If you do have urgent chores that can be put off, make sure you get the kids involved. Instead of being something you have to ignore them to get done, include them in for a shared sense of accomplishment and purpose. Give them a small, supervised part of the task to do themselves. It may end with taking a little longer, but it means you’re spending time together working towards a goal – and you get to tick a job off your list while spending time with them too.

Why Parents MUST Fork Out For School Trips

This post may contain affiliate links.

people

“Mom, mom, I need $50 to take to school tomorrow. We’re going on a school trip!”

The kids are always unbelievably excited to attend field days out of the classroom. Parents can never decide whether they are interested in the subject or whether they want a day off. Regardless, moms and dads are never as enthusiastic. Behind the mask are the questions that never seem to go away. Can we afford it? Is it expensive? Can they afford to miss it?

Sadly, looking after a family is expensive work and there is never enough to go around. Saying that below are four reasons to get their butts on the bus.

It’s Fun

There are educational and social factors to think about, and this post will get into them later. But, let’s face it – life as an adult is tough. There is a responsibility to burden, bills to pay, and small human beings to protect. So, kids should enjoy their time as cute little monsters while they still have the chance. Children deserve the opportunity to have fun, and days in the field ten to fit the bill. This is true of school trips by NST and specialist companies that work in the industry. Anyway, school is getting tougher and tougher, and it comes with its pressures. A tour is a way to blow off steam, too.

And Educational

Please, don’t see it as a day where they will play pranks with their friends and slack off. Those things may happen, but there’s a good chance that the kids will get involved. Great field trips are interesting and grab the imagination of the audience, and this only serves to aid learning. Think of the days in museums searching the premises for clues and answers to the questions on the sheet. When education and enjoyment come together, it teaches kids about the thirst for knowledge.

kids playingPicture
Bypasses Budget Cuts

As strange as it sounds, a day out is a fantastic way to overcome school restrictions. With budget cuts at an all-time high, the one-on-one time for students is getting lower. Even worse, there isn’t enough time or personnel to cover the syllabus, leaving gaps in their knowledge. A successful field day helps to conquer these issues by housing all the resources they need under one roof. Museums and art galleries and colleges are places of higher learning that aren’t subject to a shoestring budget. As a result, they have the tools to teach a large amount of info in one day.

Appeases Son/Daughter

Okay, parents shouldn’t do things solely for the love of their kids. As guardians, it’s up to us to make tough decisions which are for their own good. Still, everyone knows children hold grudges. They’re like an elephant with temper issues! And, they will happily let us know about for the rest of our lives, give or take. Sure, it isn’t the best reason to fork out, but seeing the look on their face is priceless. What’s the point of being a parent if we can’t make them happy once in a while?

Will you grant or deny their next request to go on a field trip?

Despite what we sing along to pop and rock lyrics about wanting to die young, we all want to live longer than that and probably into our sunset years. It is safe to say a good number of us want longevity.

Health and genetics play a big role in our how long you live and how well you age. For instance, coming for a lineage where most people live into their 80s puts you in good stead live longer since your genes have proven to be resistant to diseases. Of course, you can’t just rely on genetics alone, you have to eat and live healthy.

Here are tips to help you live longer.

Physical activity increases blood flow to the brain and alleviates stress to keep your brain healthy and mental diseases like memory loss at bay. Exercise promotes the release of endorphins, commonly known as the feel-good hormone, which elevates a person’s moods and reduces stress and helps you sleep better at night.

The benefits of exercise to the body are numerous: exercise improves metabolism which is needed to maintain a healthy body weight and improve digestion.

Exercise burns fat and stimulates the production of HDL (High-density lipoprotein), the good cholesterol, which is important in keeping the heart healthy. Physical activity also strengthens muscles and bones and wards off arthritis and osteoporosis.
