Before opting to get your makeup tattooed on, there are some important things you should take into account.

While you may be sure that permanent makeup is for you. It is important that you have all the correct information before going ahead and getting your makeup applied permanently.

For a useful guide to permanent makeup, have a read below:

1. It is not 100% permanent

While tattoos may last a lifetime, permanent makeup tends to only last a couple of years, before it starts to fade. Permanent makeup fades because the ink is not injected as deeply into the skin as it is for regular tattoos.

While your makeup may fade, it will still be very visible and may end up looking a mess. That is why most tattoo artists and beauticians recommend opting for natural looking permanent makeup, instead of a bright makeup design.

Although permanent makeup can fade, this isn’t always the case. If you are unhappy with how you tattooed makeup looks, while you can opt for tattoo removal, it may not be entirely successful.

Tattoo removal can be highly successful. However, it depends on the ink colours and area of the tattoo. For example, permanent eye makeup may be difficult or even too dangerous to try and remove due to its location.

2. Permanent makeup can damage your skin

Although it is unlikely, it is still important to keep in mind that permanent makeup may cause you to have an allergic reaction. This could either be a severe allergic reaction – swelling and blistering of the skin or a more minor one. It totally depends on your allergies, body and skin sensitivity.

It is also important to keep in mind that no ink colour is considered to be entirely safe as tattooing inks are not regulated. That is why it is vital to pick a licensed artist that comes recommended by a beautician or other specialist.

3. Make sure the studio you are in is sterile

Although you may not think that you are at risk from anything dangerous, if the machinery is not sterile then you could contract an infection, hepatitis or even HIV. So, it is important to ensure that you pick a studio you know is clean and sterile.

A professional tattooist or permanent makeup artist will know just how important machine hygiene is and will make sure that their studio is squeaky clean. If you notice anything out of place – like a dirty needle or an unclean piece of machinery, leave immediately and go elsewhere.

4. Not all colors fade

Whilst permanent makeup is not 100% permanent, certain colours are less prone to fading. Darker colours, such as the blacks and browns used around your eyes are more likely to last longer than lighter shades, such as those used on your lips.

To avoid permanent makeup that ends up looking smudged after a few years, ask your tattooist or makeup artist to use only iron oxide pigmented inks on you. Iron oxide pigments are the best ones to use to avoid a smudged or uneven look.

Do you find that you often wake up feeling tireder than when you went to bed? A lot of people don’t think about the comfort of their bedroom and sleeping environment enough. If you struggle to get a comfortable night’s sleep, it might be time for you to look at your sleeping arrangements. When something isn’t going well, you should look at what might be wrong and how you can change it. Your poor sleep quality could be down to your bed or your bedding, your bedroom or even a health problem. Try making some of these changes to help you get a better night’s sleep.

Check for Health Problems

Many people are kept awake at night by a health issue, whether it’s theirs or a problem for the person they share their bed with. Snoring is a common issue that keeps people and their partners awake, which can be caused by several different things. Other sleep conditions include sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome and insomnia. If you suspect your problems sleeping are due to a health problem, you should visit your doctor so they can help you find a solution.

Examine Your Bed

It could be your bed that’s keeping you awake or stopping you getting a comfortable night of sleep. You might think that your bed is adequate, but it could be your mattress, pillow or even bedcovers that are making your sleep uncomfortable. You don’t want a mattress that’s too soft or too firm, so you may need to rethink the one you use. A medium-firm mattress if perfect for most people, but for extra comfort you could consider using a memory foam mattress. Your pillow is important too, and you should make sure it supports your head and neck. What sort of pillow you use depends on your sleeping position. If you sleep on your back, it should be thinner but with extra height in the bottom, to support your neck. You need a firmer pillow if you sleep on your side, and a thin, almost flat one if you sleep on your stomach.

Adjust Your Bedroom Temperature

The wider environment of your room is vital to how well you sleep too. Perhaps your room is too warm or too cold for you to fall into a deep sleep. You don’t have to adjust the temperature by turning the heating up if you can’t afford to. Warmer pajamas, such as thermal layers, and extra blankets can keep you warmer. Look at the humidity in your room too, to make sure it’s not too dry or too moist.

Change Your Sleeping Position

You might get a better night’s sleep if you change your sleeping position. It can be hard to do this as you probably naturally rest in one place. But if you experience pain in your back or you snore at night, changing your position could help. If you have back pain, sleeping on your back or side is better than on your stomach. But it’s best not to sleep on your back if you’re a snorer because it could obstruct your airways.

As they recall and relive the past, they come to a deeper understanding about the choices they’ve made. Also starring Luke Bracey and Liana Liberato, and featuring beautiful scenery along with music by Lady Antebellum, The Best of Me is a powerfully romantic story of love, hope and second chances.

For the Home Entertainment release, the “Tears of Joy” Edition Blu-ray and DVD will include an all-new storyline and “Storybook” Alternate Ending so Amanda and Dawson finally get that second chance at love.

A Guide to Fundraising to get Amazing Results

This post may contain affiliate links.
Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

Fundraising is a brilliant way to raise money for something close to your heart. It’s also an opportunity to challenge yourself and perhaps do something that you would never have done otherwise. Everybody who sets out with a fundraising project would of course like to get amazing results, but how do you ensure the ultimate success? Use this guide to help you!

Recruit More Volunteers

The more volunteers you have to help you, the more money you’ll make. If somebody would like to get in on a sponsored bungee jump or bake sale, then let them. They’ll attract more people, and your charity will thank you for it. Don’t be too precious about what you’re doing and remember why you’re raising cash in the first place!

Make Sure What You’re Doing is Legal

Before you start anything, make sure what you’re doing is legal. You can’t go far wrong with bake sales and the like, but you need to be careful that you aren’t violating any rules, regulations, or complicated jargon that I won’t repeat here to avoid boring you. When you think you’ve decided what to do, do a lot of research to get ideas and ensure that your idea is legal.

Team Up With a Large Company

By teaming up with a large company, you can get way more exposure than you would on your own. People will also be more likely to trust you, as this big name is backing you up. See if any large companies would like to get involved. You could even consider local companies in your area. Plan an elevator pitch before you approach them designed to impress, so you have the best chance of getting them on board. Think Dragon’s Den!

8166696568_6cce40b6a1_zHoward Lake

Get Kids Involved

Kids love to help, so get them involved. People can’t say no to them either, which will help you when racking up the sponsors. Take a look at some sample donation request letters to get an idea of what to give the kids before you send them off to get sponsors.

Get Active

Getting active is one of the most popular ways to raise money. You could try your hand at white water rafting, for example. You could even try something a little tamer, like going on a bike ride. Whatever you decide, you can keep fit while doing something for a good cause. You could even do a sponsored weight loss challenge if you’re overweight. It’d be the perfect motivation to stick at it!

Get Arty

Show off your creative talent and encourage others to do the same by holding an arts and crafts fair. You should attract lots of people, and it’ll be beneficial for the entire community as well as your charity. You could even simply make jewelry and sell it to give the profits to your charity – it doesn’t need to be a huge event!

Have a Bad Hair Day

Suggest a bad hair day to your boss at work. The aim is to make your hair look as funny, scary, or ridiculous as possible. This will make it less painful when people hand over their cash to you…they’ll be too busy laughing at all of the insane hairstyles!

Have a Talent Contest

Host a talent contest at work or at a school. Everybody will have fun, and you might even find an upcoming star! Let anybody show off their skill, even those who want to burp the alphabet. This probably isn’t going to be aired on TV, so don’t worry!

Put Your Cooking Skills to the Test

Try cooking some tasty baked goods and selling them. You could attend car boot sales, school fayres, or even go and knock your neighbour’s doors. I only advise doing this if your skills are up to scratch, though! I once bought lemon cake for charity that was hard to chew…I think they’d been selling it for a while.

Easy Ways To Lose Weight: Tips For Busy Moms

Everyone wants to be healthy and in good shape, but when you are a mom with lots of other things to do, time just seems to get away from you. It can be hard to find the time to do the washing up, let alone find the time to get out of the house and exercise each day.

How can you go about losing weight when you have a hectic lifestyle and lots of mommy responsibilities? All though it can seem near to impossible to find any spare time to lose weight and get in shape, with a bit of planning and creative thinking, it is possible.

1. Use any spare moment for exercise

While you may not have a block of 60 minutes free each day, you do have the odd minute now and then.

Whenever you find yourself with a minute or two free, fit some exercise in. Of course, you won’t have the time to go to the gym, go for a run or go swimming, but in a minute you do have time to do 20 sit ups, press ups or squats. You can also do step ups for a minute, run up and down the stairs or dance like crazy around the kitchen.

If you find yourself with a little longer to spare, like five or ten minutes, there are lots of great exercises you can try.

You may not realise it, but doing small burst of intense activity are an excellent way to lose weight. Especially for busy moms with hectic lifestyles.

2. Make homemade smoothies and soups

Start the day off with a healthy, homemade smoothie. All you need, are some fruits and vegetables, some juice or milk and voila, breakfast is served. Making a smoothie only takes a couple of minutes, it is super healthy, cheap to make, and best of all, can keep you full up for hours.

Don’t be tempted to buy ready-made smoothies, they are not actually that healthy. They are packed full of sugar and preservatives.

For a super healthy lunch and dinner, make up a batch of homemade soup. Soup is easy to make, doesn’t cost too much and any leftover portions can be easily stored in the fridge or freezer.

The best thing about soup (and smoothies) is that there are so many unlimited flavor combinations you can try, so you will never get bored.

3. Seek professional advice

If you are struggling to lose weight on your own, think about seeking professional help. Perhaps you would find it helpful to join a local slimming group or would benefit from some denver weight loss coaching? Ask your friends what they would suggest, chances are they will have lots of ideas up their sleeves.

4. Be prepared

To lose weight and get fit, make sure that you are always prepared. Whether you are dropping the kids to a play date, going into town or heading to the park with the little ones, make sure you prepare a healthy snack to take with you. Otherwise, if hunger strikes you will end up snacking on an unhealthy snack from the nearest shop. Pack a small cool bag with crunchy carrot sticks, cucumber batons, a small pot of low-fat hummus, and a handful of nuts or seeds.

As well as being prepared in terms of healthy snacks, make sure you are also prepared for exercise. If you are taking the kids to the park make sure to wear your trainers so that if the opportunity arises, you can go for a quick run about.

The Busy Mom’s Guide to Cleaning

Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

Kids and cleaning do not go well together. You may feel that you are always cleaning up after your brood, only to find that they have messed it all up again. Kids! Who’d have them? Well, we love them really but it would be good to keep our home in impeccable order.

What you need is a quick fix. Or, at the very least, a guide to cleaning your home in a jiffy. Here is a busy mom’s guide to cleaning.

Cleaning as You Go

One of the easiest ways to stay on top of the housework is to ensure that you are cleaning as you go. Pick up toys. Put away newspapers. Wipe down sticky surfaces as you see them. Once you do this, the rest will come easily.

It’s Time to Teach Those Kids a Lesson

Of course, it shouldn’t be down to moms to make sure that the house is sparkling. Children need to learn that if they are playing that they are responsible for the mess too. So, request that the kids start cleaning up after themselves. Start a reward chart. Put stickers on the chart every time something is put away. Make sure that they are aware of their tasks. That way, it’s less pressure on you to keep a clean home, and the kids are taught a valuable life lesson in the process.

4352139344_1000e39f41_oAriel Grimm

Devise a Deep Clean Day

Every now and then, the house will need a deep clean. Cleaning as you go is all well and good, but trying to keep on top of the vacuuming and polishing is vital. So, set up your own cleaning schedule. Devise a day that works for you. Make sure that you have a full day to gut the house top to bottom.

Invest in Quality Cleaning Materials

Make sure that you have all of the cleaning implements that are needed to carry out your cleaning tasks. You can see reviews for the top rated vacuums of 2015 to find out what is the best vacuum cleaner here. After all, you don’t want to put in all of the hard work. It’s time to invest wisely. After all, you should have to do all of the hard work.

Be a Super Mom: Get Organized

One of the easiest way to keep on top of the household chores as a busy mom is to make sure that you are organized. Schedules can be an excellent way of making sure that your home is sparkling clean. Devise a timetable and ensure that you stick to it. For example, Monday could be laundry day. Tuesday could be used to polish the bedrooms. Getting organized is the key to a happy and clean home. Plus, you will feel less stressed by the mess.

4845751420_860c2648ce_zJudith Doyle

Ditch the Stuff That You Don’t Need

Once you have a schedule in place, you will find it easier to get rid of the things that you don’t need. You will come across old toys, too small clothes and clutter that you simply don’t need. Establish a sorting out day and get rid of the old stuff that you don’t use or need. Donate to charity or simply throw away. Your home will look fabulous in no time.

Do You Compete With Your Kids At Online Games?

With so many great apps available for free right now, it’s no wonder some are going viral. Whole families compete against each other on their individual devices to see who can get the highest score. This new way of spending time with each other has raised some issues and questions about community, culture and families. But if you are like the millions of other people out there who just enjoy a quiet few minutes trying to beat their best score, it probably doesn’t bother you!

There are several games that are among the most popular for friends, families and even colleagues to get mega competitive over. Angry Birds, Minion Rush, and Bejeweled have all had their time. Dozens of new apps become available every day, but only a few make it into the viral game hall of fame. What does it take to make a game that is popular enough for millions of people to want to download?

6798184016_265ed1a4f6_zWhere do you game – image thanks to Flickr

Candy Crush continues to top the league tables of favorite games for all ages. It’s not exactly high brow, and it seems to be quite repetitive on the face of it. But it has kept us tapping our smartphones for a few years now. Kids, teens and adults have posted their high scores on FaceBook. Some have even tweeted about it. The best thing about it is it gives us a reason to talk to each other, if only by posting messages on the internet!

Wherever we are in the world (or the room), these light entertainments keep us connected. Never before has it been so easy to strike up a conversation with a distant relative or even a complete stranger. And it is something we can do anywhere anytime. It gives us all something in common. Because it is a game, the kids are more than happy to tap or swipe away. Perhaps if you can’t beat them you should join them!

Of course, it is easy to cheat some of them, or at least get a little prompt. You can get tech logo quiz help online and hints and tips for most of the quiz games out there. Wordstorm and other anagram games are becoming hot as they have an educational element to them. Zynga provides a number of games like Scramble that push to learn new words and improve your spelling. Other games are just harmless fun. Or are they?

Lots of parenting websites recommend limiting the time on the internet and TV for children. The truth is, we live in an age where our entire lives are online. It is hard to restrict the time for activities that can be fruitful, educational and useful. Admittedly there are more important things in life than gaming, but if a half an hour session in an app helps a family bond and improve temperaments can it really be a bad thing? The choice is yours as a parent. Some parents would say anything that keeps them calm can’t be too bad. Others would say that time should be spent studying or playing outdoors. Can there be time and opportunity for both?

Agent-Carter-GFXI have a little secret to tell.  Up until my trip to Los Angeles in November I hadn’t seen a Marvel movie.  I know that many of them are blockbuster hits but they just weren’t on my list.  Truth be told in the last few years most movies I have seen have been movies my 2 daughters have wanted to see (Frozen, Big Hero 6, etc.) as hubby and I haven’t had a movie date night in YEARS.  So I wasn’t quite sure what I was in for when I was told that we’d be screening the new Marvel television series, Agent Carter.  They said it was based the character of Peggy Carter who was Captain America’s love interest.  But I didn’t even know WHO Peggy Carter was.  The whole Marvel Universe really was a mystery to me.  Luckily another blogger friend of mine gave me the 30 second versions of some of the Marvel story lines to help me understand what we were about to watch.  I got a taste of it from the screenings and I have to say I’m hooked.

What I totally thought wasn’t “my thing” TOTALLY IS!  I absolutely LOVED the clips we were shown from Marvel’s Agent Carter series that starts tonight on ABC at 8 p.m. EST.  I mean I am totally hooked!  So much so that I already started watching other Marvel movies just to acquaint myself with the Marvel Universe.  I even got my girls to watch their first Marvel movie, The Avengers, with me.  There!  My secret is out but now I can no longer say I’ve never watched a Marvel movie, I can say that I am now HOOKED on all things Marvel, especially Agent Carter!

agent carter

Agent Carter premieres on Tuesday, January 6th at 8:00 pm EST with a 2-hour premiere.
It will then run for 6 weeks at it’s normal time of 9:00 pm EST for a total of 8 episodes.

HAYLEY ATWELLMARVEL’S AGENT CARTER – “Marvel’s Agent Carter,” starring “Captain America’s” Hayley Atwell, follows the story of Peggy Carter. It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers. Inspired by the feature films “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” along with the short “Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter.” (Marvel/Katrin Marchinowski)

So even if you THINK Agent Carter isn’t for you, you just might change your mind after seeing some of these clips:

agent carter Louis D’Esposito and Jeph Loebphoto credit Marvel

On our trip we had the privilege of interviewing Co-President of Marvel Studios Louis D’Esposito (also Executive Producer on “Agent Carter”) and Marvel’s Head of TV Jeph Loeb (also Executive Producer on “Agent Carter”).  They shared with us how Agent Carter went from a character in a Marvel movie to bringing Agent Carter to series on ABC.

After the Captain America movie, it was decided to tell more of Peggy Carter’s story. They  decided to go back in time and encapsulate what Peggy Carter did after the death of her love, Steve Rogers AKA Captain America and they created a one-shot based on her character.  Fans wanted to learn more about Agent Carter so it was decided to bring her to life on television in a 7 part event, Agent Carter. Jeph Loeb noted that it couldn’t be done without Hayley Atwell so she first had to be on board with the project for it to happen.   So just where in the Marvel Universe timeline does Agent Carter fit in?  Jeph explained that Agent Carter takes place about 6 months after Captain America’s death during the time that the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve) was running and shows viewers a little bit about how S.H.I.E.L.D was formed.

Marvel knows how to empower women. They aren’t sidekicks. They are just as important.  Marvel has always believed in strong heroes, it doesn’t matter whether they are men or women, young or old, black or white. A hero comes from within. ~ Jeph Loeb

I love that Peggy Carter is a beautiful, strong female character who knows how to kick booty!  She makes being a secret agent look easy. Hayley Atwell is the perfect Peggy Carter.  She captures the audience’s attention from the first moment showing that she isn’t just a pretty secretary.  She can hold her own with the boys for sure.  So just who is Peggy Carter?  Viewers first learn about Peggy Carter as the love interest of Steve Rogers AKA Captain America.  She is left brokenhearted as Captain America plummeted to what she thought was his death. She was then featured on Marvel’s Peggy Carter one-shot (self-contained story) on the Iron Man 3 Blu-ray.  On the one shot viewers find out that Peggy is a member of the SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve) which is the precursor to S.H.I.E.L.D.  She may be an agent but the men don’t take her seriously and she ends up doing paperwork while “the boys” get to go out on the action packed cases.  One night while alone in the SSR office, Peggy intercepts a call with a tip on where to find the mysterious Zodiac.  When she single-handedly defeats Zodiac, instead of praising her for a job well done, her boss reprimands her for not following the proper protocol.  But don’t feel bad for Agent Carter.  She gets the recognition she deserves.  Howard Stark calls and tells Peggy’s boss that she will now co-head the newly created S.H.I.E.L.D.  Way to go Agent Carter!  The Agent Carter seven-part event takes place in between these two times and shows just how Agent Carter came to co-head S.H.I.E.L.D.

Tonight’s Premiere Episodes

In the pilot “Now is Not the End,” Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) is contacted by old acquaintance Howard Stark(Dominic Cooper, Marvel’s Captain America: The First Avenger) when he is framed for unleashing his deadliest weapons and can trust no one else. To help Peggy clear Stark’s name, he insists his butler, Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy,) be at her beck and call — whether she likes it or not. But the risk is great: If caught, Agent Carter could be targeted as a traitor and spend the rest of her days in prison…or worse.

In “Bridge and Tunnel,” Howard Stark’s deadliest weapon has fallen into enemy hands, and only Agent Carter can recover it. But can she do so before her undercover mission is discovered by SSR Chief Roger Dooley (Shea Whigham) and Agent Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray)?

I just love all of the clothes and props from the 1940’s.  I even got to meet Hayley Atwell, tour the set, and meet with the costume designers so keep an eye out next week for that post.  It was an amazing experience.
