Disclaimer- I received a copy of Penguins of Madagascar, a Target gift card, and other party supplies as part of the Fox Home Entertainment Insiders Blogger Program to facilitate this post but all opinions are 100% my own.
My girls and I were selected to have a Penguins of Madagascar ice cream movie viewing party. It was so much fun. We were sent everything we needed for a fun, family night- plates, cups, napkins, themed rings, a penguin ice cube tray, the Penguins of Madagascar movie, 5 plush, talking characters, ceramic ice cream bowls, an ice cream scoop, a gift Target gift card to buy all of the ice cream supplies, and my favorite item- the Play and Freeze ice cream maker ball.
Aren’t they adorable? The movie came with 2 walking figures, too! So cute!
The ice cream maker ball was so much fun to use. You fill one side with rock salt and ice and the other side with your ice cream ingredients. Close the ball and the fun begins! Shake shake shake the ball. Pass it around. Roll it. After 15 minutes open the ice cream end, scrap any ice cream from the sides, and close it up. Turn it over and add some more ice and rock salt. Shake again until the ice cream is firm. You might have to repeat the scraping and adding ice a few times. The time it takes to freeze depends on the liquid you use, the toppings, etc. We used heavy whipping cream and it took about 30 minutes.
Here’s the recipe we used. If you don’t have the ice cream maker you could put ice and rock salt into a gallon ziplock baggie and the ice cream ingredient into a quart baggie. Put the smaller baggie into the larger baggie and shake shake shake!
Peanut Butter Ice Cream
1 pint Cream or Milk (we used heavy whipping cream)
1 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
1/2 cup Sugar
2 chopped Peanut Butter Cups (we actually used 4 because you can never have too much peanut butter cup except I think that is why it took a little longer to freeze)
In addition to watching the adorable Penguins of Madagascar, we also did several other games and activities. You can find lots of printable activities on my other Penguins of Madagascar printable activity post. My girls had fun making paper airplanes, showing off their best karate stance, and my favorite, doing the penguin shake.
