Dear Annoying Stray Facial Hair That I Only Discover AFTER I Leave The House,

I know that as we age, as women we start to grow annoying facial hair.  First it is a stray hair that grows a little lower than where your sideburns are.  Then you get that one lonely hair on your chin.  But those hairs must get lonely because the next thing you know, they have friends.  So we’re left to pluck or shave them.  But they come back.  It becomes a daily struggle to keep the jungle from growing into a 5 o’clock shadow.  I’ve come to terms with this battle.  I will pluck, shave, and electrocute you little buggers.  But PLEASE don’t show up AFTER I leave the house for the day.  I don’t like finding you when I am on my way to a big event.  I don’t like looking in the mirror on my car’s sun visor and seeing you taunting me on my way to lunch with friends.  But if you do show up after I leave the house, I now have a pair of tweezers in my glove compartment.  You WILL BE vanquished!!!

Sincerely,

Your Host Face No More

3, 2, 1 Magic Mug Cake Mix Easy DIY Gift Idea #cake #recipe #giftidea

3 2 1 magic mug cake collageThis is such an easy “recipe” (if you could even call it that) that you might not even believe that it actually works.  It’s called 3, 2, 1 Cakes or 3, 2, 1 Magic Mug Cakes as I call them.  I’ve seen it posted in several places but the first place I saw it was on The Hidden Pantry.  It’s called 3, 2, 1 Magic Mug Cake for obvious reasons.  To make a 3, 2, 1 cake you combine a whole box of angel food cake mix with a whole box of any other flavor cake mix in a gallon baggie.  That’s the basic mix.  Then to prepare the cake here’s the recipe.
In a mug combine-
3 Tablespoon of cake mix
2 Tablespoons of water
Mix until well blended
Microwave for 1 minute
Viola!  It’s that easy!  Each service makes a little mug cake for one.
You can top it any way you like.  Put some chocolate chips on top as soon as it comes out of the microwave and after a few minutes they will be melted and you can spread it over the top.  Or top with whipped cream, frosting, sprinkles, fruit, or anything else you like.

3 2 1 Magic Mug CakeI took the 3, 2, 1 Magic Mug Cakes to a new level with this gift idea.  We made a mug for Father’s Day but this would make a great gift idea for teacher appreciation, end of the year, Mother’s Day, thank you, and just about any other occasion.  We decorated a mug but you can purchase any mug you like for the gift.  Then mix up a batch of 3, 2, 1, Magic Mug Cake mix and put it into a plastic baggie or cellophane bag as shown above.  I then put that cellophane bag into another cellophane bag because the first one gets some cake mix towards the top and it looked a little too powdery.  I just twisted the top of the first bag and pushed it down inside the second bag.  (see picture)  Tie with ribbon, add directions like in my poem above, and add a measuring spoon to make it easy for the gift recipient.  You can even add a small water bottle with it to really make it easy.   Feel free to add a baggie of various toppings like chocolate chips, candies, sprinkles, etc.  The gift recipient will thank you for it!

spaghetti and meatbowls
From the moment I saw Sweet Creations by Good Cook’s Bake-A-Bowl I was in love.  There are so many things you can make with this pan from sweet to savory.  There were so many ideas that popped into my head such as making a cornbread bowl and filling it with chili, making a chocolate cake bowl and filling it with ice cream, or even making a bread bowl for spinach dip.  But for this post I wanted to really think outside the box or bowl in this case.  I figured post people would be baking in their bowls so I decided to make my bowl out of meat!
bake a bowlIt was really easy.  First put the ground beef in a bowl and added the rest of the meatball ingredients.
meat in bowlMix all the ingredients into the ground beef until it is thoroughly incorporated.  I don’t like getting meat and other stuff under my acrylic nails so I like to use  Playtex’s CleanCuisine Disposable Gloves when I need to get my hands dirty.

mix meatFill each bowl with 1/6 of the meatball mixture.  It should come up to the line in the center of each bowl on the pan.  Use a spoon to make a “well” in the center of each bowl.
raw meatbowlsPut the top piece of the pan on top of the bottom piece and make sure the tabs on the sides fit into the slits on the bottom pan.  Cook for 20 minutes in a 350 degree oven.  Remove meatballs from pan and place upside down on a plate with paper towel to drain off the excess grease.

bake a bowl meatPlate meatball and fill with some tomato sauce and spaghetti.  Top with more tomato sauce and shredded Parmesan cheese.  Enjoy!

spaghetti and meatbowls

You could adjust the recipe to your usual meatloaf recipe, use the same technique to make the bowls, and then fill with corn, peas, and/or carrots and then top with mashed potatoes for a fun twist on boring meatloaf.

Spaghetti and MeatBOWLs Ingredients-
MAKES 6 MeatBOWLs

1 pound ground beef
1/4 cup Italian style breadcrumbs
1 egg
2 teaspoons of ground garlic and herb mix or Italian seasonings

angel hair pasta or spaghetti (cooked)
tomato sauce
shredded Parmesan cheese (optional)

Mix all ingredients until thoroughly combined.  Fill each mold to the 1st line.  Use a spoon to create a “well” in the center of each bowl.  Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.  Remove bowls from pan and invert each one on a plate covered in paper towel to drain the excess grease.  Fill with tomato sauce, pasta, more tomato sauce, and top with shredded Parmesan cheese.  Enjoy!
