There seems to be a never ending amount of laundry to do in our house.  My girls like to change out of their school uniforms when they get home from school which makes for 2 outfits per day that go into the hamper.  (Well if I am lucky enough for them to put their clothes in the hamper but that’s a whole other issue!)  Then there are pajamas, towels, sheets, and a million and one other things that always seem to need washing.  Normally when it come to doing laundry in my house, my husband and I work on it together and my girls seem to disappear.  Is finding help with the laundry an impossible chore in your house, too? Do family members go mysteriously “missing” on laundry day?
Well fear not!  The folks at Whirlpool® have created an easy-to-use app that helps turn your family into a team of wash and dry wizards… all from the palm of your hand.  The free Whirlpool® WashSquad App
 lets you:

– Assign laundry jobs to your family
– Track and reward their completed chores
– Create custom laundry guides with wash and dry instructions tailored to your Whirlpool® washer and dryer

Now that my girls are getting older we recently started teaching them how to do the laundry.  It is so important to teach children to be self sufficient so they can take care of themselves when they become adults.  The Whirlpool® WashSquad App makes learning to do the laundry fun.  I can assign jobs to my girls and they can earn points when they complete their tasks.  I am hoping that by helping with the laundry they will both realize how much extra laundry they are generating by changing their clothes, not reusing towels, etc. and work towards making less dirty laundry.

Another great feature of The WashSquad is the Stain Eraser guide and Fabric Coach which will help get you through even the toughest of loads without breaking a sweat.   Download the free application now and you’ll be on your way to perfectly clean laundry that you didn’t have to do. Now that’s one kind of laundry we can all get behind.

Giving The Gift Of Sleep

This post may contain affiliate links.
Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

Disclosure- The items mentioned below were generously donated by the companies mentioned to assist with my gift of sleep surprise gift to my neighbors for this post.  I received no compensation for this post except the joy that giving to others brings.
gift of sleep3
I already mentioned in this post that I was selected to be a part of an amazing campaign to “give the gift of sleep” to a baby/family in my community.  My first thought was to surprise my next door neighbors.  They have a 9 month old daughter and the husband works off shore most of the month and is only home 8 days at a time.  This leaves his wife to take care of their baby by herself most of the month.  She works from home but as their daughter gets older and more mobile, it has gotten harder to work, get things done around the house, etc.  I knew she could use a little break and I was excited to surprise them both with goodies.

I began to brainstorm ideas of what to give them.  I thought about getting them new sheets for their bed but I didn’t know what size bed they had and I couldn’t get them pajamas because I didn’t know their sizes.  Then I decided to get them a couples massage and include a candle and some body sprays and lotions in the gift basket.   As I planned this gift, I decided that I wanted to “give the gift of sleep” to as many people as I could.  I came up with the idea to donate pajamas to a local women’s shelter but I knew that pajamas would be expensive.  Instead of spending the gift card for things for my neighbor’s gift, I contacted several companies to see if I could get things donated.  This way I could use the entire gift card for my pajama donation and still be able to treat my neighbors.
gift of sleep4
I contacted Bath and Body Works and they loved my idea.  They generously donated a large candle and aromatherapy sleep body mist and aromatherapy sleep body lotion to give to my neighbors.  When I first contacted them I wasn’t even thinking about actual aromatherapy sleep products, I was just thinking of their regular lines of products so I was so excited when I opened the package and saw how perfect the sleep body lotion and sleep spray mist were.
gtt-logo
I found out that GoldenTouch Therapy offers a two hour couples massage class!  So instead of just sending them to get a one time massage, they could learn to give each other a massage.  Perfect!  Much better to teach them to fish then just give them a fish as the old expression goes.  I contacted GoldenTouch Therapy and they generously offered me a certificate for a free couples massage class to give to my neighbors.  Now the total amount on the gift card was free to buy pajamas and I could still surprise my neighbors with the gift of sleep, too.
gift of sleep
I created coupons for 1 hour of playing with their daughter so my neighbor could work or relax as well as a coupon for a night of babysitting from us.  I also purchased a comfortable blanket and a laundry basket to put it all in.  I wrapped up all the presents and waited until my neighbor came back in town to deliver their “gift of sleep”.  They were so surprised by everything.  It turns out that they were just discussing the night before that they wanted to take a couples massage class and they needed a laundry basket so the whole present was perfect.  Giving to others is really the best gift for yourself.  There is nothing more heartwarming than knowing you are helping someone else.  And truth be told the gift of playing with their daughter and babysitting is as much for us as it is for them.  My girls love playing with her and so do I.

“This review was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Pampers. I was provided the featured product free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% mine.”
Pampers_Logo_Teal
I was selected to be a part of an amazing campaign through Double Duty Divas and sponsored by Pampers.  I was given a $100 prepaid gift card and 2 packages of Pampers diapers and told to “give the gift of sleep” to a baby/family in my community.  These are the directions I was given:

Pampers is looking for bloggers to give back to a baby/family in their community all in the spirit of the “gift of sleep.” We want creative bloggers to surprise a deserving family with ways to promote sleep and capture your experience in pictures and/or video.  Maybe a gift basket of cozy linens, soft pajamas and lavender candles?  Perhaps a date night planned for the new Mom and Dad so they can sleep in?  It’s totally up to you!

Planning my neighbor’s gift inspired me to do more.  I didn’t want to just “give the gift of sleep” to my neighbors, I wanted to give to as many people as I could.  That’s when I came up with the idea to buy pajamas to donate to a local shelter.  I decided to contact several companies to donate items for my neighbors’ gift so I would have the entire gift card to use to purchase pajamas.  (You can read about my gift of sleep to my neighbors here.)  But where would I find pajamas that were a decent quality but also inexpensive enough for me to purchase a decent amount of them to donate?  I searched the internet and came up empty handed.  Then I happened to glace over at a store ad for the week.  In the small corner section of the ad it said that they were having a summer clearance sale that included pajamas for only $3.99.  It was as if this sale was meant for me!
I rushed over and purchased 10 pairs of pajamas to donate (and some clothes for my daughters).  When I got home and checked my rewards account from the store I saw that I had earned $27 back in bonus rewards from that purchase.  I spent the next few days going to several different locations to purchase pajamas using a combination of the money on the gift card, the bonus reward points that I was earning from my purchases, and my own money.  In all I ended up buying 40 pairs of women’s pajamas to donate to a local women’s abuse shelter!
pajamas

I was so excited and felt so blessed to be able to donate 40 pairs of pajamas and the 2 packages of Pampers to the shelter this morning.  It feels so good to be able to give back to the community.  I had planed on asking if I could take some pictures of the shelter employees accepting my donation and whatever else they would have let me take pictures of.  I figured that because it was an abuse shelter I would only be able to photograph certain things.  What I hadn’t realized was that the shelter’s office would be closed for Columbus Day.  DOH!
Once I arrived the security guard buzzed me in and then helped me bring everything inside.  At that point I couldn’t turn around and say, “Sorry, I’ll come back tomorrow to make this donation so I can take pictures for my blog.”  So unfortunately I do not have pictures from today, but I do still have the warmth in my heart from knowing that I helped so many others.  I spent a long time talking to the security guard after I dropped the pajamas off.  She was telling me how so many women (and men too) come to the shelter with only the clothes on their backs, some even without shoes.  They have such a need for new items.  It was then that I knew that I would be back to the shelter again soon.  I plan on going back soon to donate toiletry items from my stockpile.

I want to thank Pampers and Double Duty Divas for this opportunity that has really had a huge impact on me.   This “gift of sleep” has turned into so much more for me and I hope it inspires you, too.

Pampers diapers have superior overnight dryness and protection!  By interviewing over 9,000 moms about what was important for their baby, Pampers found the number one unmet need is a diaper that provides superior overnight dryness. Pampers incorporated this firsthand insight, as well as the brand’s deep understanding of baby and baby’s needs, to design a diaper that both mom and baby can count on for up to 12 hours of overnight protection.  Pampers Swaddlers, Pampers’ softest diaper and the #1 choice of hospitals, is now available through size 5.  Pampers Cruisers are now more absorbent and offer Pampers’ best fit for all the ways babies play freely.
