High-end men’s fashion is as alluring as it is expensive. Even if you’re pulling in an impressive salary, quality clothing and accessories can be burdensome. For most of us, that $10,000 Gucci suit in the department store window won’t ever make it into our closet. However, you shouldn’t lose hope. There are plenty of ways you can look stylish without breaking the bank. If you’re in need of some money-saving fashion advice, keep reading for a handful of helpful tips.

Shirts

Silk and high-end cotton shirts aren’t cheap; although, if you can find them from an earlier fashion season, they might not burn a hole in your bank account. Nordstrom’s rack is one of the best places to buy quality clothing without the obscene price tag attached. Even if the shirt needs a little tailoring, it’s better to buy it from a place like Nordstrom and get it fitted afterward than go straight to a tailor.

While the dawn of cell phones has long since replaced the need for watches, they still hold a special place in the world of fashion. In a perfect world, your grandfather would have passed down his Rolex; however, most of us aren’t as lucky as others. Fortunately, the internet has provided us with watch companies that make the same sophisticated, high-end style of watches without the cost. You can find rose gold watches with a timeless look for $200-$300 with relative ease online.

Suits

If you live in Southern California, it’s worth a trip to China town in LA for a tailored suit. Not only will you be able to find fitted a suit made of quality materials, but you can also pay half as much as you would at a local tailor. For anyone limited by their geography, the local tailor is probably your best option. If you don’t want to wait for a sale, try to make a deal for a set of multiple suits. You’re going to need more than one suit in your life, and a tailor might be willing to strike a deal with you if you buy in bulk.

Shoes

Shoes can be tricky; you don’t want to spend too little, or you might end up with a pair that is uncomfortable or bad for your feet. Much like shirts, the best thing to do is go to a place like Ross where you can find great dress shoes that have been heavily marked down. For anything casual, stores such as Burlington Coat Factory have a variety of shoes that come from high-end department stores. You can order shoes online for pennies on the dollar from China. However, it is ill-advised to purchase any shoe online because of the inconsistencies in sizing and fitting.

Thrift Stores

Thrift shopping is a great way to get clothing for a fraction of the cost. However, it can be a challenge to find those diamonds in the rough before someone else gets to them. Thrift store chains like Buffalo Exchange are the perfect place to find epic casual wear. Consider pulling all of the old clothes you don’t wear anymore out of your closet and trading them in for new ones.

T-shirts

Designer t-shirts are a huge waste of money. Rather than paying $25 for a t-shirt that essentially turns you into a walking billboard, buy packs of plain t-shirts at a bulk discount. If you can’t stand not having some imagery or logo, swap meets, and thrift stores are your best bet for cheap stylish t-shirts.

Sell Your Clothes Online

computerYou can always trade your clothes in for store credit at a thrift store, but you might get a better return if you sell them online. Websites like materialworld.com and poshmark.com are great places to sell those expensive jeans that don’t fit you anymore. Leather boots are worth a small fortune; don’t trade them in when you could get more than half of your money back online.

Use these helpful tips and saving money while you look stylish will be a walk in the park.
