We are becoming a nation of couch potatoes. It is hardly surprising that at the end of a long stressful day at work, all we want to do is sit in front of the television and veg out. That sets a bad example for our children, so we must all try to do something about it.

It isn’t easy to keep yourself in shape. Tiredness overtakes us all at some point, and it takes willpower to keep going. Raising children is one of the hardest jobs there is, and it never seems to end. The only way to combine exercise in your daily routine is to do something that everyone finds enjoyable. That way you won’t even realise that you are working out. Here are a few top tips for keeping your family fit.

Diet

First you must address the family diet. Most people eat a healthy balance of foods; it is the quantity on the plate that is the problem. Start reducing the amount of food you all eat a little at a time. The rest of the clan might not even notice what you are doing if you get it right.

Buy A Dog

Introduce a new member to the family. This four-legged friend will encourage everyone to be a little more active. Take it for a walk every day with your children. When they get into the field, the kids will chase the dog and play. They will have no idea that the activity is helping them. The walk is good for you too. Maybe you could make it a ritual on Sundays to go out into the countryside for the day using the dog as an excuse.

Build A Pool

Build a swimming pool in your garden. Some people have a derelict pool and could give it a new lease of life by using swimming pool liners at 1st Direct. Ask any child what they would most enjoy in the garden, and most of them will say a pool. It gives the whole family the ultimate solution for exercise and fun. Swimming is one of the best activities you can do to help you shed a few pounds, so it is money well spent.

Get A Gym

If you have an old shed or garage, you could turn it into a gym. Exercise equipment is quite cheap these days considering the technology that goes into it. You can pick up an electric treadmill for under two hundred pounds and weight lifting equipment for less than that. Think about a rowing machine or cross trainer.

Have A Disco

Have a disco party once a week for the children; they love to jump about and dance to the tunes. Without knowing it, they are improving their fitness and possibly giving themselves a healthier life when they grow up. Medical experts believe that much of what we do as a child affects us in later life, so we must make an effort to keep our children fit.

These ideas will guide your thoughts in the right direction, but the rest is up to you. There must be many ways your family can get some exercise; you just have to think of them. For now, I wish you good health.

Hello everyone!!  I decided that I wanted to create a blog and reach out to all of you amazing people! Each and every one of you has your own story and goals in life.  All of you are important, we all have a purpose!  One of my desires is to help end the trend of obesity that has swept our nation and help people to lead happier and healthier lifestyles.  This growing epidemic isn’t going anywhere unless we take a stand now and make a change!!  It kills me to know how many people are slowly dying due to all the processed foods they eat and with little to no exercise many people are going down hill very fast!  But we can change this and I am here to help.  Even if you don’t have weight to lose (who wouldn’t want to lose a few lbs!) you can still improve your fitness.I’m going to share my personal story with you so you will know that I know exactly how it feels, I used all the excuses, I went through a very difficult time. I was in an abusive relationship, I was in pretty good shape then but after I finally got myself and my children away from the domestic violence we ended up homeless and living in a shelter for awhile. I was finally able to get my own place but the pain and memories were still there. I was so depressed, I ate my feelings away, I didn’t even think about what I was putting in my mouth….before I knew it I had gained over 40lbs!! YIKES!! I got myself into gear though, I started eating healthier and exercising daily. I have lost 30lbs in two months and still going!! I have never felt better and I really would love to help all of you reach your goals, whatever they may be!!!
I am not a nutritional expert by any means but I am learning and studying to be a personal trainer. I am doing this because I truly care about this and love to help people. Nothing is greater than making someone else’s dreams come true! Feel free to reach out to me, would love to hear from you!!
