Christmas is nearly here, which means one thing – time for Christmas parties. While Christmas parties are a lot of fun, a lot of stress tends to come with them. From the panic of choosing that perfect look to the stress of picking out a nail art design, there is a lot to think about.

One thing that puts a lot of people off of Christmas parties is the time that it tends to take to get ready – there just aren’t enough hours in the day, or at least, it seems that way. There is so much pressure to look amazing, that when it comes to getting ready to go out, it can end up taking hours.

The good news is that this does not have to be the case. Believe it or not, you can still look and feel your best without spending hours pampering and preening yourself, it’s just a case of being smart about how you get ready, that’s all.

Practice makes perfect

This saying really does holding meaning when it comes to Christmas party preparation. The best way to ensure that getting party ready doesn’t take hours is to do plenty of preparation in advance – AKA practice everything that you need to. From your makeup look to your accessorizing, practice each part of your festive party look, so that on the day itself, you can get ready in a flash.

Hack your hair

Not got a flair for hair? Perhaps an up-do could be the answer? A bun, chignon or a half up, half down look could be ideal. Another option could be to invest in some tape in hair extensions – perhaps you could pick some pre-curled ones? If you find that you are seriously struggling when it comes to your hair, consider booking into the salon the get your hair styled professionally. If you do choose to go down this route, make sure to go armed with hairstyles that you would like to have, instead of having no idea.

Get your nails done professionally

If you lack the flare for nail art, consider getting your nails done professionally. There is no reason why you should have to spend hours trying to perfect your nail designs when nail art isn’t your thing. Save yourself and time and stress and get your nails done by a professional – that way you can relax, safe in the knowledge that your nails will look perfect. Pick a design that has a Christmas theme to it, but that also matches your outfit, accessorize and makeup look. You don’t want anything too over the top, just something that is pretty, stylish, and eye-catching.

It isn’t easy getting ready for Christmas parties, as there is just so much to do. However, if you take note of the tips above, you can ensure that you are Christmas party ready in a flash. There’s no need to take hours getting ready; it’s just a case of being smart about how you prepare, that’s all.

Beauty Musts this Festive Season for Busy Mom

Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

As astounding as it is to say, it really is nearly Christmas. That’s right: in just over a month, kids nationwide will be waking up early to see whether they’ve been good enough for a visit from Santa this year. Yet, what of mom (and dad)? For parents, the festive season starts somewhat earlier (not least in respect of gift buying and wrapping, and hiding). Indeed, winter and its accompanying holiday celebrations come even at the nearing of November’s close, what with Thanksgiving; a veritable whirl of a party cycle (whether it be at the office, with friends, or relatives). To this end, wives and mothers know how important it is to look their best, but don’t always have spare time enough to take extra care of themselves.

Your Nails

As shallow as it seems, appearances really do count. Everyone knows that; it’s an accepted fact. Therefore, if you’ve skipped the trips to your manicurist for the last few months, now is either the time to book an appointment or get to grips with shaping and painting your nails at home. If you have daughters, why not make it a bonding session? If you’re meeting new people at those functions filling up the calendar, there’s always that handshake that reveals you to be a polish perfectionist or a nude no-hoper in the self-care stakes. It’s worth the time and effort (plus, a mood-lifter to boot).

Your Smile

Meeting new people in full party swing also demands a smile or two, of course. To this end, you again have a choice of a professional dental session (though, quite pricey and there’s the fact of having to leave the kids in the waiting room unattended) or using an at home teeth whitening kit. Just remember to forgo the red wine until after you’ve revealed your magnificent, and friendly, pearly whites to strangers; offset with a nice dark (newly bought, of course) lipstick for even more effect.

Your Hair

Finally, is one’s hair. Though men will profess a concern with their own, it’s been accepted almost since time began that a woman and her hair are in a lifelong love-hate relationship. As with your nails, if you’ve neglected your do recently, and if there’s only one thing you treat yourself with this festive season, it must be a trip to the hairdresser. Not only is it a wonderful, spa-like indulgence to have one’s scalp massaged (piped chill-out music playing in the background) and products employed that you can never seem to find in stores (or, if you do, they never seem to work the same), but a hairstyle can lop years off your look as well (always a bonus when you’re operating on motherhood-induced sleep deprivation).

The Finished Package – Nicely Wrapped

Of course, to cap the effect of your mini makeover, how can you not vindicate the purchase of a new dress for the season logically? See, Christmas really does seem to come earlier and earlier every year.

Put some focus back into your skincare

Our skin can take a beating in winter, with the harsh weather drying it out or making us look pale and tired. So now more than ever would be an ideal time to put a bit of focus back on to your skincare routine. Ensuring that you are cleansing your face and getting rid of any makeup when it comes to the end of the day. It would also be a great opportunity to use a thicker moisturiser to add some much-needed moisture back into your dry and flaky skin. Doing this could instantly give your complexion a glow and make you feel better in your own skin. You might also want to consider drinking more water as this is another great way to boost the health of your skin.

Try out a new hairstyle or color

Are you bored of your current style? Have you had the same cut and color done for years? Now is the time to change things up and try something new. Perhaps changing your hair color is enough, or even opting for a shorter style. It could transform the way you look straight away and give you the confidence boost you need. If you have shorter hair why not consider adding extensions to try out a different look? There are plenty of semipermanent and permanent options to consider when ti comes to things like that and hair color.

A great smile could brighten up anyone’s day

Smiling at someone can really lift your spirits, it’s a proven fact that you can feel happier just by putting a smile on your face. So have confidence in your pretty smile and concentrate on those pearly whites. You could consider things like teeth whitening or even porcelain veneers to enhance your smile. Perhaps book in at your dentist to see what options you have when it comes to improving your teeth condition and smile.

Try applying a self-tan for a healthier glow

Just because it is winter, it doesn’t mean you can’t look like you have had two weeks in the sun. Fake tan is a quick and easy way to give your body and face a healthier sun-kissed glow, without the need for a vacation.

Wear bright colored clothing

Finally, just by choosing brighter clothing, you can instantly transform your overall look. We can all have a tendency to stick to darker colors in the winter, but there is no reason to do that.

I hope these tips help you brighten up your appearance.

Why Your Teeth Are So Yellow, And What To Do About It

Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

White teeth look great. Yellow teeth? Not so much – well, at least according to the media and the magazines. As a result, many of us want brighter, whiter teeth.

The question, as with all these things, is; what causes tooth yellowing in the first place? Is it just a natural part of life? Or does it have something to do with our lifestyle choices?

According to one major toothpaste manufacturer, the primary cause of tooth yellowing is staining. Tooth enamel on the surface of our teeth is white. Underneath tooth enamel is another substance called dentin. Dentin is brown. If tooth enamel is thick, it blocks out the dentin and makes teeth appear white. If tooth enamel is thin, the brown underneath the enamel discolors the teeth. This has the effect of making teeth look more yellow from the outside.

Given that our smile is one of our best assets, it’d be good if there was something we could do about this. Here are the reasons your teeth are going yellow and what you can do about it.

Reason 1: You’ve Got Yellow Teeth Genes

Not everybody’s DNA produces perfectly white enamel. Some people have genes that instruct their bodies to make enamel with a yellow tinge. This is a pain, but you can do something to fix it. First, of, you can try using whitening toothpaste. These toothpaste contain special ingredients. These ingredients artificially boost the whiteness of teeth, even if they’re yellow underneath. The second option is to use whitening strips. You can get these from the supermarket or use services like Dentist 24 Hourly to find a dentist to do it for you. Dentist treatments are often a lot more effective than whitening kits you buy at the store.

Reason 2: You’re Sick

If you suddenly notice your teeth are discolored, it could be because you’re sick. Some diseases can cause teeth to discolor. If you’ve got cancer, chemotherapy can also cause teeth to lose their whiteness. It’s worth noting, however, that sickness usually results in teeth going more brown than yellow. If your teeth are going brown, regular dental treatment won’t solve the problem. You’ll have to go to the doctors and get the underlying illness sorted out first.

Reason 3: You Take Medication

512px-medication_amoxycillin_capsuleWikimedia Commons

There are a couple of medicines that can darken teeth, especially in children and younger adults. Two such medications are antibiotics doxycycline and tetracycline. Tetracycline is often used by people who suffer from acne.

Other drugs can also cause teeth to yellow, besides antibiotics. These include the antihistamine class of medicines. If you suffer from allergies, your medicine could be the reason for why your teeth are losing their whiteness. Drugs for high blood pressure can have an adverse impact on tooth whiteness too.

If you think that your medicine is making your teeth yellow, take a look at the list of side effects. If you’re worried about it, talk to your doctor. Often, they’ll be able to offer you a different combination of medicines that won’t damage your teeth.

Reason 4: You Don’t Bother Brushing Your Teeth

The number one reason why people’s teeth lose their color is because of a lack of oral hygiene. Oral health is essential to stop the buildup of plaque and tartar. Once plaque sets in, it can be tough to remove.

A lack of oral hygiene also means that stains have longer to be incorporated into the tooth enamel. If stains are left, they can work their way into the enamel itself, causing it to discolor. When this happens, it can be very difficult to remove it.

The good news is that the solution is easy. Just brush your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. If you use a manual toothbrush, brush at a 45-degree angle to the teeth for maximum effect.

Reason 5: You Smoke

Everybody knows that smoking can be very damaging to your health. And everybody knows that it’s the best way to destroy your natural good looks. Smoking makes your hair wiry, skin sallow and teeth brown.

Reason 6: You’re Getting Old

Finally, it’s worth noting that aging itself can cause teeth to brown. The reason for this is that teeth get worn down over the course of a lifetime. The enamel on the surface starts to thin, and the dentin underneath becomes more exposed.

If you’re getting older, you can have your teeth cosmetically whitened with veneers. You can also use one of the many whitening products out there on the market at the moment. Visit your dentist if you’re worried.

Simple Tips To Look Amazing When You Are A Mom

It’s often hard for moms to feel confident about their appearance once they have a child. They feel like their body changes and never goes back to its original form. In fact, over 70% of moms worry about their appearance every day. It is much more than a woman who is currently childless. But there are some ways moms can look good even when they are busy with the perils of having kids. Here are some simple tips to look amazing when you are a mom.

Dress to flaunt the best parts of your figure

It’s common for moms to start worrying about their body after they have had children. After all, it’s gone through a major event of carrying a baby for nine months. However, it’s time to start focusing on the best parts of your body that you still love. Dress to embrace your favorite parts of your figure and you will soon feel amazing. For example, if your legs are still fantastic, show them off in a shorter style dress. Or if your breasts have doubled in size since giving birth, it’s time to wear a top which will show off your new curves. You need to make sure you are buying clothes that fits you comfortably if you want to look great. Even though it might pain you to go for the next size, you will find the clothes will look better if they fit more comfortably.

Make sure you are completing a daily beauty routine

Although it can be hard to find time to complete your beauty routine, it’s best to try and make 10 minutes to take care of your skin. After all, if you stop looking after it every day, your appearance will be affected, and you will lose confidence. Therefore, make sure you make time every morning to wash your skin and use a moisturizer. Finish off with a toner to help give yourself a glow, even though you may feel tired. Completing a daily beauty routine will also ensure you delay aging for as long as possible. If your skin is getting you down, you could look for a more permanent way to reduce the signs of ageing so that you feel good about how you look.

Cut out the bad food and drink from your life

You need to make sure you are being careful about what you eat if you want to look fantastic when you are a mom. If you start eating more junk food and fizzy drinks, you will put on weight and your skin will age prematurely. Therefore, make sure you are drinking plenty of water every day and eating a healthy balanced diet. That way, you can ensure you stay a healthy weight and will still have young looking skin so that you feel and look amazing.

Have a great haircut

It might surprise you how much a good haircut can make moms feel good about themselves. After all, when your hair is always dry and greasy, it will alter your appearance, and you will lose confidence. Therefore, it’s time to book in to get those dead ends cut off and get a new look. Talk to the stylist about a hair cut which is easy to maintain in your daily life, but will make you look fantastic. Once you have a good haircut, you will instantly feel a lot happier about how you look!

Don’t be afraid to add some colorful makeup to help you look fantastic. A bright lipstick and eyeshadow will instantly brighten up your face and take years off your age!

Shocked At What You See In The Mirror? Here’s How You Can Turn The Clock Back!

Time really flies, doesn’t it? It can be a shock to look in the mirror and see your 40-year-old self when you were expecting to see someone who looks as if they’re in their mid-twenties. The chances are, over the past few years, you’ve started to notice a few changes to the appearance of your skin. At first, they were probably subtle changes, and then they may have become a little more obvious.

Of course, aging is a natural part of life – every second you are getting ever-so-slightly older. However, that doesn’t make the physical changes that happen to our faces as we age, any easier to stomach. That being said, you don’t have just to sit back and adjust to your aging skin. There are plenty of simple steps you can take to turn the clock back.

Research the best foods to eat

healthy-997541_640Photo source

What you eat doesn’t just impact your body size and shape, but also your skin’s health. Believe it or not, the foods that you’re putting into your mouth can affect how healthy your skin is. This, in turn, can determine how quickly your skin ages. Say, for example, your diet is high in refined sugar, this would mean that your skin would be more prone to aging. The reason for this is because sugar has an impact on collagen production, slowing it down and making the skin more prone to wrinkles and fine lines. So it really does pay to be careful about what you eat.

See a specialist

76289665_87193877ea_zImage credit

If you’re worried about your skin, the best thing to do is see a specialist. This could be a dermatologist or a cosmetic surgeon who specializes in anti-aging treatments. By taking the time to speak to skin care experts, you can ensure that you understand what is happening to your skin. As well as the best methods of dealing with the changes that you’re experiencing. You can then make an informed decision about whether you want to have a cosmetic treatment to deal with it, or whether you want to try another option.

Give your skin the care it needs

cream-194116_640Picture link

Despite the fact that your skin is getting older, that doesn’t mean you should stop looking after it. If anything, aging skin requires more care, not less. That’s why it’s so important to ensure that you have a daily skin care routine in place. This should consist of cleansing, toning, exfoliating, and applying face cream, to keep your skin hydrated. It’s important to give your skin the care it needs, as it can make all the difference to how healthy it stays. It’s also crucial that you invest in the right products for your skin type, to ensure that it’s getting everything that it needs. For instance, mature skin needs a face cream that’s richer than younger skin, as it can have a tendency to dry out more quickly.

There’s nothing more upsetting than being shocked by how much your skin has aged. However, by taking note of the suggestion above, it is possible to turn the clock back and give your skin a healthier and more youthful look.

This year is flying by, isn’t it? It’s hard to believe it’s nearly the end of February already. You might have started to notice all the spring plants beginning to emerge. Of course, with the weird weather that’s happening at the moment, many of the plants that wouldn’t be seen for a month or two yet are out already. So if it’s practically spring, that can only mean one thing. Summer is just around the corner! You might think it’s too soon to be thinking about warmer weather, but it’ll be here before you know it.

5816898819_08abe2f5e4_zSource: Flickr

If you’ve been wrapped up in winter woolies for months, the chances are you need a little bit of beautifying. Here’s how to get your body beach-ready for summer!

Change Your Thinking

Don’t think “diet,” think healthy eating and a change of lifestyle. Quick fix diets are no good. Yeah sure, you may lose a considerable amount of weight in a short space of time. Yes, it will give you a boost, and you’ll look better in a bikini. That’s true. But you can almost guarantee that you’ll put most, if not all of it, back on in no time. Fad diets don’t last. They don’t work in the long term. The best way to lose weight and keep it off is to do it slowly. Giving your skin a chance to catch up with fat loss means you are less likely to be left with excess saggy skin when you lose weight.

Fake it!

If you love a tan and want a healthy glow, hopefully, you’re faking it. Exposing your skin to the sun to get a tan is so out of date! Fake tans have moved on from the smelly, streaky formulas of yesteryear. Don’t risk premature aging, sunburn or skin cancer. The best way to prepare your skin for a tan is to exfoliate, exfoliate, and exfoliate some more. Making sure you’ve got no dead skin cells sitting on the top layer of your skin will ensure an even application with no streaks or patches!

Lovely Legs.

Worried about your pins out in the sunshine? So many people worry about showing off their legs in the summer. Why? Cellulite. This unsightly condition makes many women recoil in horror should someone suggest wearing shirts. Sadly, you can never get rid of it altogether, but there are many things you can do to reduce the effects and the appearance. There are lots of products on the market for reducing cellulite, but the Revitol reviews here suggest they may have some of the best skincare products around!

Best Foot Forward

After a winter tucked away in boots, are your feet ready for the summer? Hard skin, callouses, and neglected nails do not make for sweet summer feet! Think about sandals and flip flops. It may be time to run for a pedicure. Nobody wants to be embarrassed by their feet. If your tootsies need treating, now is a perfect time for a pedicure.

Toning up – think about it!

If you want to tone up before setting foot on the sand, don’t think that a whole load of crunches will fix that jelly belly. You need to exercise all of your body, not just the middle! Doing too many crunches and nothing else will shorten our middle section at the front. This can lead to problems with your posture. Swimming or running are great ways to tone up and improve your posture.

If you start now, you can be beach-ready in plenty of time for summer! You’ll be full of energy, looking good, and feeling great!

Treat Breakouts Right: Top Tips For Dealing With Acne

Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

Suffering from breakouts after leaving your teens behind can be downright depressing. Why did no one ever say that acne isn’t just a teenage thing? Breaking out in spots as an adult can be embarrassing and upsetting, and can give your confidence a real knock. It’s easy to feel self-conscious when you’re skin’s spotty, but there’s no need to get upset as adult acne is incredibly common. (Two in five people suffer from adult acne – that’s 40 percent of the population.)

maxresdefaultPicture link

It might be irritating and upsetting to have breakouts in your twenties but the good news is getting shot of them for good isn’t difficult. It’s just a case of making a few beauty and lifestyle changes, and your skin will be a lot less prone to spots. The only problem is that there are so many myths out there about the best ways to achieve spot-free skin that it can be hard to know what to believe. Luckily for you, I’ve put together this guide to help you get shot of those spots once and for all.

Start with lifestyle changes

3604928038_4e76a107bb_zImage credit: Flickr

The most common cause of adult acne in women is smoking. So if you smoke, you need to take the steps to quit. It might not be easy – cigarettes are addictive after all, but if you want clear skin, it’s what you have to do. While it’s best to quit altogether, if that’s not an option, switch to vaping. (Your skin will clear up significantly as you won’t be surrounding it with smoke.)

Did you know that sugar causes the skin to become inflamed leading to breakouts? If you’re someone who has a high sugar consumption and suffer from acne, this could be the route cause. It might be hard giving up sugar, but you’ll find that your skin will be much better for it. Swap from snacking on processed snacks to fresh fruit, and within a week or two you’ll see a difference.

If you’re not drinking, at least, six to eight glasses of water each day, you need to start. While water isn’t directly linked to breakouts, it is related to healthy skin. The healthier your skin is, the less prone you’ll be to acne, which is why drinking enough water is important. Aim to drink up to eight glasses of water each day – if you’re not a fan of plain water, infuse it with fruit.

Change how you care for your skin

toner-906142_960_720Photo source

If you’re not taking the time to cleanse your skin each evening, this could be behind your breakouts. During the day, our skin gets covered in dirt and oil, which if not removed before bed, can lead to spots. Make sure that every night before going to bed, you remove your makeup and cleanse your face. It’s best to steer clear of facial wipes as these tend to move the dirt and oil around your face, instead of removing it.

Many of us make the mistake of not checking the ingredients in our beauty products before we use them. There are some ingredients – mostly chemical based ones that can damage your skin and make flare-ups worse. Make sure always to opt for natural products wherever possible, as these are less likely to upset your skin and cause breakouts.

There are some products that have been created especially for skin that’s prone to acne and breakouts. If you want to give your skin a better chance of fighting breakouts, it’s a good idea to give some of these products a try. One of the most popular acne clearing products at the moment is this 15% glycolic acid serum. As well as reducing acne and scars, this product also makes your skin softer and smoother.

There are also natural products you can try, such as witch hazel, aloe vera and tea tree oil-based cleansers and creams. Because of the antibacterial properties that these contain, they’re amazing for preventing breakouts. It can be a case of trial and error as what works for one person, may not work for another. So you may need to try a few different products out, to see which ones work best for you.

The cardinal sin of acne prone skin is caking your face in makeup. You might feel unconfident about how your skin looks, but smothering it in concealer and foundation is only going to make it worse. If you’re going to wear makeup, make sure it’s a natural brand that you’re using, and only apply a light amount.

Adult acne may feel like a cruel joke from the skin gods, but it’s actually incredibly common. Don’t let your skin get you down, be proactive and find ways to help prevent breakouts in the future.
