Everyone wants to be healthy and in good shape, but when you are a mom with lots of other things to do, time just seems to get away from you. It can be hard to find the time to do the washing up, let alone find the time to get out of the house and exercise each day.

How can you go about losing weight when you have a hectic lifestyle and lots of mommy responsibilities? All though it can seem near to impossible to find any spare time to lose weight and get in shape, with a bit of planning and creative thinking, it is possible.

1. Use any spare moment for exercise

While you may not have a block of 60 minutes free each day, you do have the odd minute now and then.

Whenever you find yourself with a minute or two free, fit some exercise in. Of course, you won’t have the time to go to the gym, go for a run or go swimming, but in a minute you do have time to do 20 sit ups, press ups or squats. You can also do step ups for a minute, run up and down the stairs or dance like crazy around the kitchen.

If you find yourself with a little longer to spare, like five or ten minutes, there are lots of great exercises you can try.

You may not realise it, but doing small burst of intense activity are an excellent way to lose weight. Especially for busy moms with hectic lifestyles.

2. Make homemade smoothies and soups

Start the day off with a healthy, homemade smoothie. All you need, are some fruits and vegetables, some juice or milk and voila, breakfast is served. Making a smoothie only takes a couple of minutes, it is super healthy, cheap to make, and best of all, can keep you full up for hours.

Don’t be tempted to buy ready-made smoothies, they are not actually that healthy. They are packed full of sugar and preservatives.

For a super healthy lunch and dinner, make up a batch of homemade soup. Soup is easy to make, doesn’t cost too much and any leftover portions can be easily stored in the fridge or freezer.

The best thing about soup (and smoothies) is that there are so many unlimited flavor combinations you can try, so you will never get bored.

3. Seek professional advice

If you are struggling to lose weight on your own, think about seeking professional help. Perhaps you would find it helpful to join a local slimming group or would benefit from some denver weight loss coaching? Ask your friends what they would suggest, chances are they will have lots of ideas up their sleeves.

4. Be prepared

To lose weight and get fit, make sure that you are always prepared. Whether you are dropping the kids to a play date, going into town or heading to the park with the little ones, make sure you prepare a healthy snack to take with you. Otherwise, if hunger strikes you will end up snacking on an unhealthy snack from the nearest shop. Pack a small cool bag with crunchy carrot sticks, cucumber batons, a small pot of low-fat hummus, and a handful of nuts or seeds.

As well as being prepared in terms of healthy snacks, make sure you are also prepared for exercise. If you are taking the kids to the park make sure to wear your trainers so that if the opportunity arises, you can go for a quick run about.
