You wouldn’t necessarily know it, but summer is just around the corner. It’s time to relax, unwind and get your friends together to enjoy the warm weather.

Before you do that, however, you need to do some planning. Below are a few pointers to help keep you on track.

Plan thoroughly

Perhaps it’s an obvious thing to say, but summer lawn parties don’t plan themselves… Before you can enjoy the day itself, there are a number of factors you need to take into consideration. These include your budget and knowing what kind of party you want to have. Once you’ve come to a conclusion on these issues, you can start thinking about the logistics. How many people do you want to have round? How do you want your guests to interact with one another? And most importantly, given the inclement British weather, what do you do if it’s raining on the day in question?

Invitations

A good party invitation is a creative one: it should stand out and make your guests want to attend. If you know what kind of party you want to have, organising the invitation becomes a lot easier. Is there a theme to your day? Is there a particular person you want to celebrate? If so, these should be taken into account when it comes to the design. If you’re struggling for ideas, why not head down to the local craft store to get some inspiration before making your own?

Food

For parties, most people like something bite-sized. Nibbles and drinks are probably a better bet than a sit-down meal. You should decide in advance whether you want guests to bring their own dishes, buffet-style, or whether you will provide the supplies yourself. Both options can work very well.

Entertainment

If you want your guests to interact with one another – particularly those who are meeting for the first time – it’s a good idea to lay on some entertainment. That way, everyone has something to talk about. The entertainment can, of course, come in the form of your party theme. Live music can offer the perfect end to a summer evening’s entertainment. To keep the kids happy you could invest in some outdoor toys to keep them busy, stores like Tesco have a great range to choose from.

A summer lawn party can be an unforgettable seasonal event, but it requires careful organisation. Remember that there’s nothing better than when a plan comes together.
