A Monster in Paris is coming to 3D, BD and DVD on 4/16.  My daughters and I had the opportunity to receive a review copy and have a fun girls movie night.  A Monster in Paris is a story about a crazy inventor, his camera-obsessed friend, and a crazy monkey who, when let loose in a mad scientist’s laboratory, accidentally mix several potions causing a HUGE reaction.  Some of the product of the reaction end up on a common flea that is transformed into a giant “monster” who has a talent for music.  All of Paris is abuzz with stories of this “monster” and the police commissioner makes it his mission to get rid of the “monster” to help him win his bid for mayor.
A beautiful nightclub singer, Lucille, happens upon the flea and when she realizes he isn’t a monster and he has musical talent, she names him Franc and transforms him into mysterious musician.  Franc’s guitar playing is quite charming and makes him even more lovable   The inventor, the singer, and their friends must then help protect Franc from the police commissioner before it’s too late.
The songs and the scenery in A Monster In Paris are beautiful.  When my girls first saw the cover of the movie they said they didn’t want to see it but in the end they loved it.  This brought up the lesson about not judging a book by it’s cover which is also the lesson that can be taken from this movie since everyone thought Franc was a monster because they were scared and didn’t really know him.
From The Sassy Little (9 year old) Blogger-
A Monster in Paris is a great family movie because 4 of the characters learn to love the monster.  One thing I like about the monster is that he can sing.  I also like that he can play the guitar.
