Normally sequels have a bad rep. Specially if the first movie was a success. Well, I am happy to report that this was not the case with How To Train Your Dragon 2. It was as great if not even better than the first. The exciting cast of  Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Kit Harington, Cate Blanchett, Djimon Honsou, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera, Jonah Hill, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, T.J. Miller and Kristen Wiig is back!.

In HTTYD2 we see the characters more mature and grown up. Hiccup is still trying to figure out what he wants to do with his life. His father expects him to follow his footsteps while he feels that is not his destiny. His relationship with “toothless” (his black fury dragon) continues to be beautiful. One depends on another to fly and when they are together, they are one. I love the deep and bond connection these 2 share. It’s the perfect symbiotic relationship.

As it’s first counterpart. I laughed, I cried and was on the edge of my seat throughout the whole movie. My girls really enjoyed them as well. They are completely in love with Toothless. I don’t blame them!.  They were asking all about Vikings and when I told them that they really existed they wanted to know more.

New and surprising characters will emerge some will be threatening while others will swoon your heart. We will be able learn more about dragons and see a lot more variety than the first. From gentle giants to small and feisty. But in spite of their size, like the first movie it leaves you wondering who the beast is? – The fire spiting creatures or the humans who try to control them. At the end of the day HTTYD2 will touch your soul in many ways. I learned that ignorance and fear will make us see the world in a whole different way and will blur our judgments.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 is in theaters now!
