School’s out. Those two words often have a mixed effect on parents. On the one hand it’s great because it means we get to have more bonding time with the kids. But, on the other hand, it means having to keep your children busy during the day. And this can be a daunting task, especially if you still have things to do during the school holidays. Here are some of the things I would recommend.

Watch Movies With Them

When school is over your children are going to find they have a lot of spare time during the days. And it’s up to you to help them fill this time. I would suggest you could start out by watching some movies. The girls and I recently sat down and watched Tomorrowland together and we had a fantastic time. So, a family friendly movie would be a good place to start. You might even elect to have a movie marathon on one of the days as well.

Get Them Some Trading Cards

I think it’s important to find ways for kids to stimulate themselves as well. Sure, watching movies is great, but it might get dull. Besides, the children need to come up with their own forms of amusement and entertainment. To give them a push in the right direction I’d suggest getting them some trading cards. They could while away the hours trying to find the best Pokémon card to trade with one another, and friends. You’ll be surprised just how popular trading card games can be.

Art and Craft Day

Something I would recommend would be to take your children to an art and craft day. I did this the other week with my girls and took them to a glass making class. They had an absolute ball and managed to use their creativity to make some amazing things. So this is a tremendous idea to keep your children busy during the day. It stimulates the creative side of their brain, and they might develop a new interest from doing this. Art and craft days are an excellent way to get the children out of the house, and get their brains working.

Activity Center

Another excellent idea if you’re busy during the day is to take the kids to an activity center. Here they can let off steam and have fun being active and enjoying life. They might even make some friends along the way. Activity centers are run by qualified and vetted supervisors, and many of them run all week. This is great as it means the kids can go for several days if needs be. Your children will have fun playing games, learning skills, and developing social interactions.

When school’s out it can be chaotic for a lot of parents. Some of us might still be at work, and even if we’re not we need to keep our children busy during the day. This is often easier said than done, so it helps to have some sort of idea of what to do. Try to use the suggestions on this post to make the school holidays seem a breeze.
