Your home changes with the seasons. Every little décor element is there to bring out the best of the new season. In summer, it’s about changing your bedding for something light and fresh and creating a seasonal display of your best shellfish collection, or even your summer holiday pictures. If you’ve got some Mexican colors, feel free to through a bright rug into the lounge for a sunny and vibrant accent. But there’s one thing that most homeowners don’t pay attention to when the season change. The seasonal décor is generally for inside the house. But do you think of giving your curb appeal a little bit of summer love? You’d be surprised to know that most people forget to expand the décor project outside. In truth, you should embrace seasonal transition fully to revamp your house for the summer. If you’re wondering how to give your outdoors the attention they need to shine in the neighborhood, here are a few ideas to get you started.

A Magical Front Garden

For most people, the garden in the backyard. As a consequence, any patch of grass that lies in the front is left untouched and ignored. It’s time to change that and to get your front garden ready for the summer. It’s not too late to plant low-maintenance plants that will look fantastic in the hot weather: Sage, lavender, and rosemary are ideal for hot temperatures, and they bring a vibrant and fragrant presence. Make sure to add some solar lamps along the drive, especially if you don’t use any light outside of the porch. This will keep your front garden looking clean and friendly at all time. A lighting system is especially if you park the car on the drive at night, or even if you just want to make the most of your porch area.

Give Your Porch Some Love

Let’s focus on the porch and the entryway. It’s an area that is easily overlooked when you decorate your home, but you’d be amazed to see how little touches can change the feeling in there. It starts with the door: Solid wood entry doors give the impression of a peaceful and safe home. It doesn’t only maximize your curb appeal, but it also gives a different message about your family. A Mediterranean door style is ideal for warm climates. But don’t stop your efforts there. The door is only one of the elements that make your porch stand out. You can create a Mediterranean ambiance with vibrant lavender bushes at each side of the door, for instance, or even a lemon tree if you can. If you’re feeling vintage, you can add some strawberries or even tomatoes in an elevated plant bed by the side.

White Outdoor Walls Are So Passé

Last, but not least, is the appearance of your external walls. When was the last time you painted the external walls? While you don’t have to start a big painting project, you can add weatherproof decoration to the wall, such as ceramic tiles – it is a Portuguese and Spanish decorative tradition in old houses, and you can still find beautiful examples of it in Porto and Madrid. Or if you have wooden shutters, you could choose to paint them in vibrant colors. In other words, use the summer as an excuse to give your house a personality.
