Hello readers, I don’t know if I told you but I’m currently in the process of a home decoration redesign project. It’s going quite well and I’m not making massive changes to my house. The only exception is the living room. I’m really not happy with it and I want it to look stylish as well as keeping it a comfy, cosy place for the family. You may wonder how you do this. Believe me, I’ve been wondering the same thing! But I think I’ve finally cracked it and if you think you’d like to redecorate your living room, here’s the plan I’m going to follow.

Step One: A Brave New Color

So the place I’m going to start is repainting the walls. I’m not happy with the colour and I think I want something fresh and excited. I’ve decided on a dark colour, maybe a nice rouge because I’ve heard different colours have different effects on perception. Darker colours make the room look more cosy to people and I think the shade I’ve found is quite stylish. It was quite expensive to be honest, but I think it will be worth it when the job is complete. Now, you may want to be careful when selecting your own colour because you’ll have to choose furniture and other accessories based on it. You might even like to leave your room the colour it is and give it a quick repaint. It will look fantastic with a new lick of paint.

Step 2: Laying Down The Floors

I’m being drastic with the floors and getting rid of the carpet completely. Hardwood is the way to go I say, and I’ve been looking at catalogues, it looks stunning. I found a great dealer online who supplied the exact type I wanted. We’re going to lay it down ourselves; it shouldn’t be too hard but you could consider hiring a professional. I think the floors are going to match the new colour of the walls perfectly. They’re certainly going to be a lot easier to clean when certain little girls have accidental spillages.

Step 3: Shopping For Furniture

This was a fantastic excuse to spend some of that hard-earned money. I went a little bonkers with the budget in all honesty. You see I’ve always wanted leather furniture for the living room, but I’ve been put off by the price. Then, I found Multiyork’s leather sofas online and my gosh, I could no longer resist. I love the way it looks and I’m sure it’s going to fit in brilliantly with the new aesthetic of the room. I also bought a couple arm chairs and a coffee table to centre the room. Under which, I’m planning on putting a soft, fluffy rug.

Step 4: Accessorize

As I’ve chosen a dark wall colour, I am going to need some extra lighting. But I’ve found some fantastic designer lamps that match the style of the curtains I’ve chosen for the front window. I’m also toying with the idea of buying some new light fixtures and to be honest, I probably will.

Right now my room looks a rather big mess. But hopefully in a couple weeks it will look as stylish as the one below. Hope you have fun decorating your own!
