If you’re new to the gym, you might be wondering what to wear. We all have this problem when we first start out! In fact, I saw a man in there the other day wearing flip flops. I don’t know about you, but I thought those were a strange choice. The important thing about work out gear is that you not only feel comfortable while working out, but that the clothing is suitable and you aren’t going to get injured. With this post, you’ll never have to worry about what to wear to the gym again!

What to Wear to the Gym

Suitable Trainers

Trainers are the most important part of any gym outfit. It’s important that you not only choose a pair suitable for the kind of exercise you do, but that they suit your feet too. Everybody has a different kind of foot, so go to a specialist training shoe shop to get yours looked at. Trainers are getting better and better too; you can find multicolored pairs, and even ombre patterned trainers!

Cotton Socks

Cotton socks will stop your feet from rubbing against your trainers as you work out. If you go to the gym without socks, you’re in for a world of pain.

A Sports Bra

Everybody needs a sports bra, even for lower impact activity. It helps to keep your assets in place so you don’t have to worry about any mishaps! They also look great under cute women’s yoga tops.

Dri-Fit Fabric

Dri-fit fabric and other kinds of fabric that wick away sweat will stop you from getting the chills as you wear your sweaty clothes. You’ll stay as dry as possible, enabling you to better complete your workout.

Stretchy Fabric

Stretchy fabric, whether it’s loose on you or tight, will help you to perform all exercises to an optimal level without being restricted. You don’t want to rip something or hurt yourself because you can’t move properly.

A Workout Bag

A gym bag will allow you to carry all of your essentials to the gym in a hassle free way. Carrier bags break; even those fancy JD bags I sometimes see people use. Buy a proper gym bag and you won’t regret it!

Mix Colors and Patterns

You can find plenty of funky sports wear available from many places nowadays. If you fancy splashing the cash, some popular brands are great. However, if you want to get more for your money try H&M and Forever 21. They sell some great items in their bargain sports ranges that will get you noticed and feeling confident!

What Not to Wear to the Gym

Cotton T-shirts

Cotton t-shirts will hold your sweat, become heavier, and dampen your skin. You’ll become cold, and could even get the chills! Treat yourself to some proper gym clothing to feel your best as you work out.

Baggy Sweatpants

Baggy sweatpants can get caught on equipment, and I’m betting you’ll get very hot in them if you’re working out hard enough. They aren’t flattering either, so treat yourself to some slim fitted capris or shorts!

Thongs

Thongs will get a bit uncomfortable, and you don’t want to be pulling a wedgie out every few minutes. Wear a pair of seamless pants so that you don’t see your panty line and stay comfortable.
