Cyprus is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe. The Mediterranean island attracts visitors from far and wide. Famous for its sun, sea and sand, as well as long history and rich culture, there’s lots to see and do. If you’re thinking about visiting Cyprus with the family, there are plenty of fun things to do with the kids. Family friendly hotels and resorts are easy to find, and no one will ever be bored with the activities on offer. Below are some things to do that are fun for all the family.

Learn Some History

If your children are interested in history and archaeology, Cyprus is the perfect country for exploring museums and historical sites. In the area of Paphos, you’ll find 12 different museums, as well as The Tomb of the Kings, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the capital, Nicosia, you’ll find Cyprus’s largest and oldest archaeological museum, The Cyprus Museum.

Go to a Water Park

All the sun in Cyprus makes it the perfect place for water parks. Aphrodite Water Park in Paphos has the largest family rafting ride in Europe, so it’s fun for Mom and Dad too. There’s also Water World in Ayia Napa and Fasouri Watermania in Limassol. If parents don’t want to  join in, they can usually sit and have a drink while the kids run off and play.

Go to the Beach

No matter where you are in Cyprus, a trip to the beach is a must. You are on an island, after all. Most children love a day on the beach. Splashing about in the sea, building sandcastles and exploring the wildlife will all suit one child or another.

Try the Local Cuisine

There’s no better time to try new things than when you’re in a foreign country. Immerse yourself in the local culture and encourage your children to try some Cypriot dishes. You’ll find all kinds of places to eat and drink, from restaurants aimed at tourists to tiny local hideaways. Try going to a taverna to taste some meze – a collection of small dishes (a bit like a Cypriot tapas). Your kids will be excited to try fried calamari, grilled halloumi cheese and Cypriot sheftalia sausages.

Stay in at Your Resort

If you choose to stay at a resort like Crown Resorts Elamaris Apart Hotel in Protaras, you will have several activities available to you without even needing to leave. Sometimes you’ve had enough of rushing about to other places, and you just want to stay in and relax. Resorts and hotel complexes will usually have a swimming pool to splash about in or lie beside. They often have kids’ clubs too, and babysitters if the adults want to get away for a while.

Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean, and the country has endless things to do. Whether you choose to spend your time by the pool or go exploring, the whole family will love the experience of a new country.
