Bonding with your dog can be a little trickier than you first thought it could be for one simple reason; they can’t speak your language. That is why it is so important that you know what some of the little tips and tricks are to help you build up an ever better relationship with your gorgeous pup.

  1. No More Pseudo-Attention

Just like humans, dogs can tell when you are paying them attention and when you are sort of just pretending to. So instead of lazily scratching their head as you watch another episode of Game Of Thrones, or looking at your phone and deciding whether or not to buy that author’s new best seller, put in a little extra effort with your dog. Give them your full attention and full on belly rub.

  1. There’s No Time Like One-On-One Time

What better way is there to bond with your pup than to just spend undivided time with them. It could be that you stock up on some of the best toys for dogs and spend the entire day with them in the park. It could be a nice long grooming session that does the trick. What about an extended walk along the beach, with a quick pit stop for lunch? It could be as simple as relaxing as chilling with them on your porch, just hanging out. Whatever it is, make sure it lasts longer than a half hour.

  1. The Key To Life Is Good Communication

Everything is easier when you communicate better, and that is no different when it comes to your bond with your dog. Of course, a great place to start is consistent signals, especially when you are training them. If you’re not consistent then how on earth are they going to know what is going on? Quite simply, they’re not.

  1. Get To Know The Personality A Bit More

Every dog is different. They all have a different personality, a different character, something unique that makes them tick and squirm and shiver. They’re pretty much identical to humans in that respect. So know what your dog likes. They may be a lazy bundle of cuddles that just wants to lay with you on the sofa all day. Of course, they may be totally independent and not want to see you for most of the day, which is perfectly cool too. They might love a classic game of catch, or they may despise its very existence and think you’re the most condescending person on earth. Every dog is different, so get to know yours.

  1. Who Doesn’t Want To Learn Tricks

Dogs love mental stimulation. Okay, in order to main consistent with the point above, your dog might love mental stimulation. So why not embrace that whimsical child-like wonder within you and try and teach your dog a new trick every week. Start off with the simple tasks like sit and lie, and then slowly head toward tight-rope walking, teaching it to clean the house for you and scuba-diving. Anything that requires some form of training and/or positive reinforcement is going to be super-duper for you and your dog.
