Have you ever wished your drawings could just jump off the page? Well now they practically can with Cryoow-doll. Cryoow (short for CReate YOur OWn) dolls came about when the owners’ daughter, Nora, drew a picture and asked if her parents’ tailors could make a doll for her from it. She said that hugging a piece of paper was no fun. Who wants to hug a piece of paper?!?! And that’s how Cryoow was born! Based in Bali, each doll is custom made based on the drawing that each customer sends in. You will never find another doll like yours! How cool is that?
My daughters were given the unique opportunity to create their own Cryoow dolls. When I told them that they would be creating their own dolls they didn’t believe me at first. I explained to them that they needed to draw and color a picture that was at least 4 inches tall. The parts of the picture had to be big enough so that they could be made into a doll so I reminded my girls not to draw just a line for the limbs for example. They both worked hard and came up with adorable pictures. I then scanned the pictures and e-mailed them to Cryoow. After about 2 weeks I received an e-mail that their dolls were finished and were being shipped. I was amazing how fast they finished the dolls. Cryoow is located in Bali so I took the opportunity to have girls look up where Bali is on a map. The dolls are shipped via DHL so I opted to receive e-mail updates on our package from DHL. When I received e-mails telling us where the package was, my girls went right to the map to check it out. After our package left Bali it made a stop in Hong Kong. It was so much fun for my girls to follow our package’s journey. They were amazed that it was in Bali one day, Hong Kong the next, and delivered the following day. Their dolls are world travelers!
My girls couldn’t wait to tear into the package. The dolls were each in their own beautiful drawstring organza bag, wrapped in tissue paper, and included a rubber Cryoow bracelet, too.
And here is the big reveal:
The final products are amazing. Cryoow duplicated all the details in my girls’ dolls down to the two tone heart on the dress and even the belly button the mermaid. How cute! There is such attention to detail and amazing craftsmanship. The hair on the doll was sewn onto her head in small bunches of about 6-10 strands. I am sure it was very time consuming.
You can see how well the labels on the dolls are stitched.
One tip when creating a Cryoow doll- if you want the hair to be regular strands of hair instead of hair made from fabric, draw the hair going down and not in a flip hairstyle. You can also make notes on the sides of the picture to let the designers know how you want your doll to look.

The owner’s seven year old daughter Nora, asked one of their tailors to make her a doll from a drawing she made while waiting for her lunch. She said it is no fun to hug and kiss “a sheet of paper”. She wanted to have a real doll exactly like her drawing.
