What We Thought:
My girls and I are all big Disney fans, especially the princesses, so it is no surprise that we all enjoyed watching both of these Cinderella movies. The stories are cute and charming. Cinderella II is really made up of 3 different stories. The first shows how life in the castle isn’t exactly what Cinderella thought it would be but in the end Cinderella learns to be true to herself and makes changes in the castle that she wanted. In the second story Jacques the mouse wants to be human so the Fairy Godmother grants his wish. But it turns out that he liked being a mouse better. My girls and I discussed how you should always be yourself. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. The third story in this movie is one of love but not Cinderella. This time it is her sister Anastasia and the baker. I think this was my favorite story of the three.
Cinderella III explores what would happen is Cinderella didn’t have her magic. In this movie Cinderella’s stepmother uses Fairy Godmother’s wand to make the slipper fit on her daughter Anastasia’s foot. From there the classic tale takes a whole new twist. In the end, true love is true love. The one thing my daughter noted at the end of the movie is that she thinks Cinderella III should have come before Cinderella II because in Cinderella II Anastasia falls in love with the baker so why would she try to marry the prince in Cinderella III. I can’t argue with her logic but sometimes you just can’t over think these things. 🙂
