How many times have you spun around in a frenzy in the dressing room of a clothes store? It doesn’t seem to matter what angle you look at it, none of the dresses of the rails suit you. It is very easy to despair and become very upset. At the very least, we tend to just grab the one that is prettiest on the hanger in the hope it will miraculously flatter us in some way.

When you have been through every high street clothes store and still not found a single dress that hangs right on you, it is easy to crumple up into tears. You may work hard in the gym to sculpt your body. You may stick to the strictest of diets. But still, nothing fits you right. You’re not the right shape for the clothes in the stores, and it doesn’t matter how hard you worked to change it. This can be seriously damaging to your self-confidence.

When looking at celebrity and model photos, it is hard to feel beautiful. Aside from all the airbrushing, their body shapes are so perfect it hardly seems real. The truth is a lot of them aren’t real. They have had cosmetic enhancement to give them that perfect hourglass shape that holds dresses up perfectly in the front. So why aren’t you having breast implants?

If you have always padded your bras to give the illusion of substance there, you are likely to suffer a little in this area. Generally speaking, if even padding can’t keep a dress in your size up in front, having surgery may be the only answer. More than 30,000 procedures are undertaken every year in the UK, making each surgery statistically safer.

It would be wonderful to be able to wear a dress that fits us well, without that bagginess at the front threatening to literally expose us. The cost of asking a dressmaker to adjust your entire wardrobe could be on par with breast enlargement surgery, but over your lifetime could be substantially more. As with all surgery, there can be complications and risks, so be certain to find out all the facts from your surgeon before undertaking your cosmetic enhancement. Cosmetic surgery can certainly give your confidence a boost when it enables you to wear every-day fashion with pride.

Summer Hairstyles For Girls

Summer is still in full swing! I’m not sure what the weather is like where you are but here in South Florida it is H-O-T! The hotter it is, the more my girls try to find ways to cool off including getting their hair off their neck. I have to admit we’ve been in a bit of a hairstyle rut lately. Ponytail after ponytail is getting old around here and we were looking for inspiration. Along with wearing suitable clothing for recreational activities, girls’ hairstyles should be taken into consideration this summer, too. Cozy Friedman, kids’ hair authority and owner of Cozy’s Cuts for Kids salons in New York City, provides many practical and effortless hairstyles for kids to enjoy what is left of their summer days in her book. I can’t wait to try some of these styles on my girls. Parents rely on Cozy Friedman and Cozy’s Complete Guide to Girls’ Hair to style their kids tresses for the summer heat. Whether it be a basic bun or looped pigtails, Cozy’s Complete Guide to Girls Hair provides parents with hairstyle ideas for their kids to for any occasion, even when it comes time for back to school.

Here are some fun styles from her book:

The Basic Bun

This simple way of scooping hair up always makes girls feel grown-up, and most importantly, getting hair off of her face and neck during the hot summer months!

Don’t make the bun too tight or severe; a softer style is not only prettier, but also more comfy.

Step 1: Starting with damp hair, comb through to smooth and remove tangles.

Step 2: Gather hair in a loose ponytail. Position the ponytail where you want the bun to be on the head: low at the nape, middle of the head, or high on the crown. Secure with a ponytail holder.

Step 3: Twist the ponytail into a tight rope, coiling it around itself at the base.

Step 4: Tuck the ends of the coil into the ponytail holder at the base. Then secure the bun by pushing bobby pins into the hair at the bun’s base on all sides. The thicker the hair, the more pins you’ll need. Lightly spritz the bun with hair spray to lock in the style.

Looped Pigtails

Super-simple and super-cute –the looped pigtails shows off your little one’s cute face while keeping them cool!

Step 1: Starting with dry hair, comb or brush the hair to smooth and detangle it. Part the hair down the middle of the head.

Step 2: Hold the hair from one side of the part and make a low ponytail below the ear on that side, using a cute ponytail holder. When you pull the hair through the holder for the final time, don’t pull it all the way through: Leave the ends stuck in the holder to form a loose loop below. The longer the hair, the larger the loop will be.

Step 3: Repeat on the other side of the part. Use your fingers to make the loops about the same size on both sides.

Loose Braid

Braids are not going anywhere! An easy but chic style for longer hair, and so on-trend!

Step 1: Starting with dry hair, brush it smooth and detangle it.

Step 2: Using a fine-tooth comb, divide the hair into three equal sections: right, left and middle.

Step 3: Hold the right section in your right hand and the other two sections separately in your left. Cross the right section over the middle section and hold with your left hand. The original right section is not the middle section.

Step 4: Now cross the left section over the middle section. The original left-hand section is now the middle section.

Step 5: Continuing alternating right and left sections over the middle, until you reach the end of the hair. Secure with a ponytail holder.

Has your child ever played hairdresser and given himself or herself a haircut? Normally kids try this when they are 2 or 3 years old. A new haircut and style can really go a long way to help a child’s self-esteem. I love that with this program my girls can get a great haircut and also give back to a child in need who wouldn’t otherwise be able to get a back to school haircut. It teaches children about giving back to the community.

Dear Annoying Stray Facial Hair That I Only Discover AFTER I Leave The House,

I know that as we age, as women we start to grow annoying facial hair. First it is a stray hair that grows a little lower than where your sideburns are. Then you get that one lonely hair on your chin. But those hairs must get lonely because the next thing you know, they have friends. So we’re left to pluck or shave them. But they come back. It becomes a daily struggle to keep the jungle from growing into a 5 o’clock shadow. I’ve come to terms with this battle. I will pluck, shave, and electrocute you little buggers. But PLEASE don’t show up AFTER I leave the house for the day. I don’t like finding you when I am on my way to a big event. I don’t like looking in the mirror on my car’s sun visor and seeing you taunting me on my way to lunch with friends. But if you do show up after I leave the house, I now have a pair of tweezers in my glove compartment. You WILL BE vanquished!!!
