Four Top Tips For A Clear Complexion

It’s very rare to find someone with a naturally clear complexion. Most of us have issues with our skin from wrinkles and blemishes to age spots and dark circles. These problems, because they are in such a visible place, can make us feel self-conscious and unhappy. But enough of all this doom and gloom already! We need to stand up against our skin bugbears and combat them once and for all. The good news is that are so many different things you can try, from simple lifestyle changes to specific treatments, any one of which could be the solution to your skin issues. Here are my top tips for a clearer complexion.

1. Speak to a skin care specialist

One of the best steps you can take towards clearer skin is to have it looked at by an expert. Everybody’s skin is different. The tips in this post are general. So as well as following this advice you should seek guidance that is specific to your skin. A skin expert will perform an analysis of your skin and recommend specific care. This could include hyperpigmentation treatment options, supplements and lifestyle changes. If you don’t know where to find such a service, try searching for skin care specialists in your area or asking your family, friends or colleagues for a recommendation. But remember to read reviews from previous customers before booking an appointment.

2. Clean up your lifestyle

There are many things that you may be doing that are contributing, or even causing, your skin issues. Such habits include smoking, drinking, eating an unhealthy diet, not wearing sun protection and not getting enough sleep. It’s important to educate yourself on what aspects of your lifestyle could be causing visible skin problems and taking steps to reduce or eliminate them.

3. Deal with stress

Stress causes skin problems. Think about it; when you have an important meeting or interview coming up what always happens? You get a HUGE zit! Stress has a tendency to linger under the surface. So take precautions rather than dealing with it after it has reared its ugly head. Make long walks, yoga and meditation part of your weekly routine.

4. Hydrate your skin

And you should do this both internally and externally. There are many benefits that come from drinking water, and a clearer complexion is just one of them. Drinking plenty of water helps to flush out toxins in your body, leading to brighter, fresher skin. But drinking lots of water is not enough to hydrate our skin properly. We must also hydrate externally by using moisturizers. This routine helps to minimize wrinkles, combat dry and tight skin and gives an overall even and soft appearance. Find a product that is right for your skin type (the skin care specialist should be able to advise on this) and apply morning and evening for the best effect.

So, don’t just muddle through feeling unhappy with your skin. As you can see, there are many changes and treatments to try. Start by speaking to the experts, and you will be one step closer to achieving a clearer complexion.

8 Awesome Tips To Help You Look Younger Than You Are

Wouldn’t you like to knock a few years off your real age? Of course, you would. Every woman in the world would like to look a little younger than she is, and I am sure that you are no different. When you have children, it seems as though your beauty regime takes a back seat to the rest of your life. It doesn’t have to be that way. Here are eight awesome tips to help you shed those years.

1. Wear sunscreen

Getting a tan might seem like an excellent idea, but science shows that it damages your skin more than you know. If you want your skin to stay firm and wrinkle-free, you need to wear sunscreen all the time. Wear a cream with an SPF of forty or more for the best results.

2. Get the right moisturizer

Your moisturizing routine should be simple and easy to remember. You need to use a cream that suits your skin, while making it appear fresh and new. The Lifecell All-in-One anti aging cream is the perfect example of an action-packed moisturizer. Remember, you need to use the cream twice a day so that your skin does not dry out at all.

3. Choose a flattering hair color

You might think that going bleach blonde will make you look young, but sometimes it can have the opposite effect. If you pick a hair color that does not suit your face or skin tone, it will add years to the way you look. Ask your hairdresser for their expert opinion and take things from there.

4. Whiten your teeth

If you are a smoker or a coffee drinker, you might find that your teeth look a little yellow or gray. Look in the mirror and smile. Could your teeth be whiter than they are? If they could, you can get a home dye kit to whiten your teeth.

5. Perfect your makeup routine

Sometimes, the way you do your makeup can make you look old. If you have not changed your makeup routine in the last ten years, it is time to do so. You can get a free consultation at your local department store. The makeup artist will show you how to update your makeup in no time at all.

6. Brighten up tired eyes

If your eyes look dull and lifeless, you can solve that problem right away. There are now loads of eye drop solutions that help to put the sparkle back into your eyes. You should shop around until you find the right solution for you. Read the directions on the pack and make sure that you stick to them.

7. Stop eating salt

You don’t have to change your diet altogether, but there is one thing you should cut out. If you eat loads of salt with every meal, you will be making yourself look older than you are. Salt helps your body to keep fluids, and that means that you start to bloat and look fat. If you can, you should stop adding salt to your meals.

8. Get less sleep than you do now

You might think that getting loads of sleep will make you look youthful. In fact, studies have shown that people who oversleep look older than people who sleep just six hours per night. After a hard day at work, you might feel as though you need to sleep for hours and hours, but you don’t.

Every woman deserves to feel great about the way she looks. If you don’t like your current appearance, there is still time to change it for the better. These awesome tips will help you along the way to being the best you that you can be!

Whilst being a mom is hard work, it is also one of the most rewarding jobs you can do. However, what with hectic work schedules, child care itineraries and after school routines. It can feel like you never have a minute to yourself, let alone time to fit in a beauty regime.

Finding the time for keeping up your beauty regime can be somewhat challenging when you are running about after the kids and cooking dinner. By the time you have a minute to yourself you are most probably exhausted.

To help you fit a beauty regime into your busy schedule we have put together a few quick and easy beauty tips below:

Tip 1: Get a good haircut

Ask your hairdresser to give you an easy to perfect hair-do. Explain that you want something you can let dry naturally that looks great even if you don’t have time to style it properly.

For a mommy-friendly do, opt for a style that rests between your chin and shoulders, preferably no longer. You want something that is not too long to manage, but can still be pulled back into a tidy ponytail or bun.

Tip 2: Invest in a good concealer

If you are up in the night with the kids, you are going to end up with dark circles under your eyes. Invest in a good concealer that is quick and easy to apply and gives you maximum coverage.

For excellent coverage try MAC Pro Longwear Concealer. It offers good coverage, looks natural and lasts all day long – so is perfect for busy mommies.

Tip 3: Take a shower at night

Swap your morning shower to the evening. That way you won’t be rushing and once the kids are in bed, you can spend as much time preening as you want to. Use your evening shower time to pamper yourself – wash your hair, shave your legs, exfoliate your face, etc.

An excellent facial exfoliator that is super gentle and effective is L’occitane’s Riz Rice facial scrub. For shaving your legs, Forever’s Hand and Face soap (can be used all over the body) is great – it is gentle and lathers well.

Tip 4: Use an in-shower moisturizer

Instead of moisturizing once you get out the shower, opt for an in-shower moisturizer. They are quick and easy to use, leave no sticky or oily residue and can be quickly washed off.

The simplicity and quickness of in-shower moisturizers make them perfect for busy moms. No more having to sit and wait for your moisturizer to dry before you can get dressed.

Tip 5: Take care of your body

If there is an area of your body that requires special care, like your pores or perhaps your post-pregnancy stretch marks, make time to take care of them. For instance, to help reduce your stretch marks, you could invest in a tube of the best Stretch Mark Cream.

It is important that you feel confident about your body, so make sure you make time to look after it properly.

kiss instawaveDisclosure:  I received the product mentioned below to facilitate my review.  All opinions are 100% my own.kiss instawave

As Moms, we don’t have all of the time in the world to get ready. I usually just brush my hair and go on my way. Or of course there is the classic mom pony. Ugh! I must admit, when I first was asked to try out the Kiss InstaWave I was really skeptical. I have a lot of hair that doesn’t like to curl easy. Plus, I’ve tried other curlers that were just so complicated and didn’t actually curl my hair and even worse, they tangled my hair!

kiss instawave 2Thankfully  the Kiss InstaWave super easy to use. And since I have A LOT of hair and it’s pretty long so I was worried it was going to be a tangled mess. To my surprise this didn’t tangle my hair at all. I have tried several other products and without fail, it usually ends in a tangled mess and with huge frustration. No thanks! With one touch of a button, the “Curl Dial” instantly and automatically catches your hair and curls it neatly. It did take me a few tries to master the techniques, but now I think I have it down to a science. To make my curls last longer I sprayed hairspray before and after each curl and that seemed to hold them in place. The Kiss Instawave makes nice, loose, beachy curls. My favorite!

instawaveWhile the directions on the website and the package indicate that you can achieve different size curls with the InstaWave, I’ve yet to figure that little trick out. But I refuse to give up! I will have this bad boy mastered in no time!

This is the perfect gift idea for a teen or even another busy mom. You can score this gem at  Ulta.com or at Target.com

  • Instructional DVD

My review:

I never wanted to wear shorts or tank tops because of the fear of “did I forget to shave?”  Not a good fear to have. Especially when you have darker hair. It’s much easier to see.  Plus, being the busy mom that I am I don’t have time to shave every time I shower. Who does? So I was super excited when I found out I would get to try out the Silk’n Flash&Go™.

I was shocked at how easy this system was to use. My biggest fear was the pain it might cause, but to my surprise it actually didn’t hurt at all. Some of the time there was a slight smell of burnt hair but it only lasted a few seconds.  No big deal. So far I have done my arms which were really hairy before and also my face and underarms.  I’ll be starting my legs and bikini area hopefully soon.

It is a simple “wand” that plugs into an outlet.  Once you turn it makes a quiet fan noise.  You basically put it on your skin and push the trigger button for the light to pulse in the area that is touching the tip.  Easy enough! Then you move the tip to the next spot and “zap” it again.  Each tip has a set number of pulses before you need to replace the tip.  I like that it covers a larger area than another system I previously tried which means I get done much faster since I can cover a larger area at one time.  The only drawback is that with a limited number of pulses per tip, I am limited to the number of different places I can treat right now.  I am treating a few areas now and once I am done treating those areas I’ll start with other areas.  I just didn’t want to only have a few sessions done for each area and run out of pulses.  Of course I can always buy another tip with more pulses but for now I am sticking using it on the most important parts of my body to get hair free!

It’s going to take a few months and multiple cycles to tell if it is working the way it’s fully supposed to though. I will have to keep you posted!

10 Products You Need in Your Hair Care Tool Kit

Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

Having the perfect hair care tool kit is essential if you want beautiful, luxurious looking hair. You can’t use mediocre products (or no products at all) and expect to have salon quality hair every day. These 10 products are essential:

A Leave in Conditioner

A leave in conditioner is super easy to use. Simply shampoo your hair, towel dry, and then spray in your leave in conditioner. It’s especially helpful for hair that gets tangled easily or could use some moisturising products. Just don’t use too much, or you could end up with greasy hair.

A Hair Mask

Apply a hair mask regularly, and you should notice a big difference in the condition of your hair. All you do is apply it generously, especially to the ends of your hair, and then wrap your hair up for a few hours. You can even wrap it up and sleep in it before washing it out in the morning.

Smoothing/Finishing Serums

You can usually buy smoothing/finishing serums in one. They are great for getting rid of flyaways, and giving your hair that salon quality finish. With this sort of product, less is always more!

Natural Movement Hairspray

There’s nothing worse than crunchy hair that doesn’t move. Avoid using strong hold hairsprays and go for a natural movement hairspray instead. This will keep your hair looking bouncy and healthy while holding your style in place.

Volumizing Mousse

If your hair can be a bit flat and lacklustre at times, Davines hair care explains that a volumising mousse can be the answer. Apply to the roots of towel dried hair before blow drying upside down for maximum lift!

Heat Protection Spray

If you use heated appliances, heat protection spray is a must. The less heat you use on your hair, the better, so make sure you use a protectant spray to stop breakages and damage.

A Curling Tong

A curling tong can help to give an extra big, bouncy look depending on the size you go for. Great for all hair lengths and styles. Curl in different sizes and directions for a more natural look, before breaking up with your fingers.

A Hair Straightener

Some people can get away with not using a straightener at all, while others need one to stop their bed hair from scaring people in the street. To keep your hair extra smooth and sleek, use smoothing products and blowdry your hair pointing the nozzle down the shaft. Don’t ever sleep with wet hair!

Sleep in Rollers

Pop in some sleep in rollers before bed time and then go to sleep. Wake up in the morning, remove them, and you should have bouncy hair to rival Cheryl Fernandez Versini!

A Good Brush

We all need a quality brush to smooth our hair out, create volume, tame fly aways, and just make us look presentable in general. A great brush will last years!

Make sure you’ve got these 10 products in your hair care tool kit and you can say buh-bye to bad hair days once and for all!

Your First New Year’s Resolution? To Start Looking Young Again

One day you look in the mirror and look youthful and beautiful. The next day you look in the mirror and see an old woman staring back at you. “Who is this strange woman?” you think, “And, why does she have my eyes?” If you have begun to look older than you feel, it is time to do something about it. Aging is a natural part of life, but you don’t want to age too quickly. If you have started to think about your new year’s resolutions, why not make one to start looking young again?

Start eating healthy food and exercising

One of the main things that makes people look older than they are is a poor diet. If you live on pizza, chips and Pepsi, something is wrong. You need to cut all the fatty foods and high-sugar drinks out of your diet. Replace bad food with healthy alternatives, like fruit, veg and juice. You also need to make sure that you get enough exercise. Exercising won’t just make you slimmer; it will make you look more youthful than you do now.

Drink plenty of water and take supplements

Drinking loads of water each day will help to improve how you look and feel. There have been loads of studies in the area and the results are conclusive. When you drink water every day, your skin and hair appear healthier than they otherwise would. It is not hard to introduce more water into your diet. When you are eating meals, instead of grabbing a soda, have some water. If there is anything missing in your current diet, you should consider taking supplements to change that. For example, if you don’t eat fish, you might want to take some Omega 3 supplement tablets. You can buy tablets online in bulk or at a high-street health store.

Find something that you love doing

When people are happy, they look younger than they are. That is a fact. If you have lost your lust for life, it is time to find it again. Start a hobby or pursue your dream career. Whatever you do, make sure that you are enjoying yourself. If you can find something that you love, you need to hold on to it. For example, if you love dancing, make an effort every week to attend a dance class. You might not want to go all the time, but you should force yourself to. That way, you will get into a routine of making time for the things you love. That will make you happy and so you will have a youthful glow.

Would plastic surgery help?

There are certain parts of your body that you can’t change by changing your lifestyle. For example, if your skin looks old around your face, you will struggle to conceal that with makeup. One thing you might want to consider is a facelift by Dr. Schwartz. A facelift will make your face look young straight away. Getting plastic surgery is a big deal, and you shouldn’t rush into it. Take some time to think about whether surgery is the right option for you.

Buy yourself some new clothing

Remember that feeling you got when you last put on a new outfit? When you wear new clothes, you feel confident. That confidence makes you look young and carefree. Next year, treat yourself to some new clothes. Try and choose staple pieces that you can wear with other things in your wardrobe. That way, you can make sure that you don’t have to spend too much money on a whole new wardrobe. Get clothes that suit your age bracket. When people wear clothes that are too young for them, it makes them look older rather than younger.

Drastically Change the Way You Look with These Daring Body Alterations

Some people are satisfied with changing the way they look in small ways. They might have a new haircut, buy a new top or get their ears pierced. But other people prefer to go for bigger changes, changes that are more permanent and alter the way they look drastically. These changes, like tattoos and plastic surgery, need to be considered much more carefully than just getting a new pair of shoes or having a manicure. But if you’re looking for a big change in your life, perhaps changing yourself instead of the outside world is the answer? Changing your look can have a knock-on effect and after your big change, you might start to see that the rest of your life is changing too. Have a look at these ways you can change your image to decide if they’re for you.

6178741692_aca8f1ea22_zPhoto from epsos.de

Cosmetic Surgery

Many women contemplate cosmetic surgery at one point in their lives. There are lots of ways of altering your body with surgery, from your face to your feet. It’s often used to combat the effects of weight gain or weight loss, as well as aging. But many women have cosmetic surgery just because they want to change the way their face looks. Undergoing facial plastic surgery by Dr. Bustillo could change your nose, mouth or eyes, if you’re unhappy with them. Another popular option is breast enhancement (surgically or with creams) or reduction.  Surgery is a big step, so if you are considering any surgery you need to think about it for a long time. It’s important that you don’t make any decisions when there are other factors in your life that could be causing you stress or upset, such as a break-up.

Tattoos

Tattoos are a very popular form of body modification because you can do so many things of them. From people who are covered head to toe, to people who have barely noticeable tattoos, millions of people have them. Some people think of tattoos as being huge pieces, inked over someone’s entire arm or back. But many of them are very subtle and easily hidden under clothes. If you’re thinking about a tattoo, you might have to think about whether it’s appropriate for your job. Many employers ask that you have no visible tattoos, so you need to be able to cover it up. You also have to consider the longevity of it. You can get temporary tattoos, but usually they’re permanent. Are you going to regret it later, and if so will, you be able to cover it up or remove it with laser treatment?

Permanent Makeup

Some women now have permanent makeup applied to their face, so they don’t have to apply it every day. It isn’t entirely permanent – it’s normally semi-permanent instead. It’s a kind of tattooing, which you can have applied as eyeliner, lip tint or even permanent eyebrows or eyebrow tint. If you’re fed up of applying your makeup every day, permanent makeup might be a good option for you.

If you’re bored of or unhappy with the way you look and a makeover hasn’t worked, perhaps it’s time to try something more drastic. But be careful not to jump into anything without careful consideration.

Want Lips Like Kylie Jenner? Here’s What to Do…

Kylie Jenner has been making waves in the tabloids lately. This isn’t because of the show ‘Keeping Up With the Kardashians’ though. Kylie is making waves all on her own, all because of her extremely full lips! Whatever your opinion on Kylie Jenner, you can’t deny that her lips are looking good lately. But how? They used to be very thin. In fact, they were virtually non existent. Kim Kardashian, Kylie’s older sister, says that she does it all with lip liner. While I suspect that lip liner has a small part to play in Kylie’s lips, I think Kim may be telling fibs. Kylie has obviously had lip fillers of some kind, especially when you compare her side profile from 4 years ago and today. Regardless, you can get lips like her too! 14194657726_9475f96b00_zImage Source
Practice Using a Lip Liner
I’m sure that Kylie’s new look isn’t down to lip liner alone, but it’s obvious that she uses it. Most people who use lip liner draw around the natural line of their lips, but I feel as if Kylie overdraws them slightly to give a fuller look. You need to be very careful with this though, or you could end up looking like a clown. Make sure you don’t go too far out of the lines, and stick to the natural shape of your pout for the most natural looking effect.

Use a Darker Lip Color
Once you’ve used your lip liner, you can use a darker lip colour to fill your lips in. Dark colours are perfect for winter, and they add a sultry vibe to any outfit. They are great because they make our lips look more noticeable, helping them to stand out and look larger.

Use Highlighter and Shading Strategically
Highlighter dotted just above your cupids bow will help your lips to stand out! Don’t use too much though; you don’t want to look as if you have a sweaty lip. You can then use something a little darker to create shading below the bottom lip. This will help you look more pouty!

Test Out Different Glosses
A gloss can be a great way to make your lips look fuller, but you need to make sure that it will glide nicely over your lipstick. Make sure you either use a clear version, or a colour that matches your lipstick shade. You may even want to use a plumping gloss or similar beauty product before you apply your lipstick, to help give you a naturally ‘beestung’ appearance.

Consider Having Lip Fillers
If you’re still unhappy with your lips after trying out these techniques, you could consider having lip fillers at a cosmetic surgery in London. Make sure you know all of the risks first, and that you are able to afford it. You should also bear in mind that you will still be you after you have the procedure, so it won’t help you if you aren’t happy with yourself in general. If you aren’t in the right mindset, cosmetic surgery could be dangerous for you. Try these tips and see if you can emulate Kylie’s pout!

The Truth About Anti Aging Ingredients

This post may contain affiliate links.
Thank you for visiting Cori's Cozy Corner! Please make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and subscribe to our E-mails!

As we move through our lives and the kids, career and other half’s stinking sports shoes take their toll; we may notice our body, hair and skin start to lose their will to impress. As we pass the 40 mark, hair has lost it’s volume and soft texture. The body has been through pregnancies and breast feeding, and cost us our hourglass figure. And all that frowning at the kids has given us so many wrinkles and lines!

It’s hard to look in the mirror when we realise that fresh-faced 20-year-old that we have inside us isn’t evident on the outside anymore. Even our eyes have lost that glint. What we need is a big boost of confidence to free that young girl back into the world.

Anti aging products are everywhere. Shampoos and conditioners designed for older hair can give volume boost and shine. For our body, we are promised extraordinary results from every slimming aid out there. And for our face, there are many ingredients in creams to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, brighten our skin, refine the pores and hide age spots. It is worth reading reviews of products like LifeCell cream reviews to find out if they may be helpful to you.

Ultimately, nothing is going to stop us getting older. Nothing is going to stop us looking older and older. Nothing is going to stop us trying to defy it either. So, with that glimmer of hope (or maybe that 20-year-old glint is back?) in our eyes, here is a breakdown of what these ingredients promise to do:

3350877893_9d1db3abf3_zThanks to Flickr for the pic

Alpha-Hydroxy Acids: Sounds harsh, and it can be, as they may increase stinging and sensitivity to the sun. There are three different types in skin cream, and they can all be found naturally. Citric acid found in fruits cleanse, tighten and brighten the skin. Glycolic acid from sugar cane can exfoliate to reveal newer skin cells, and Lactic acid from sour milk helps clear away the old dead cells on the surface.

Antioxidants: These are most commonly vitamins C and E. They reduce the general wear and tear on the cells of breathing in and out. These vitamins as supplements we eat are known to be effective and provide genuine benefits working from the inside out. There is some doubt to their effectiveness applied on the top layer of skin.

Retinol: This is a form of vitamin A, which when taken as a supplement, can have positive effects on the plumpness of your skin. This must NOT be used if you are pregnant due to the risk of birth defects. It is proven to be effective. Whether or not the and strength of the retinol in your face cream is enough is debatable.

Peptides: The idea is to stimulate your natural elastin and collagen replacement in your skin cells. These are in abundance when we are young and give the skin that smooth, plump look. Age reduces their production and effectiveness. There is no substantial evidence to say applying peptides in a cream will stimulate skin cells to do anything like that.
