Are you Healthing or Cleaning?  LYSOL has introduced the concept of Healthing which centers on keeping families as healthy as possible to prevent them from getting sick.  It goes beyond just regular cleaning and actually teaches the proper steps to stay well.  The concept of Healthing has been especially important for my family lately because it seemed like someone in my family was getting sick every month.  I even got sick 3 months in a row and started worrying about my own immune system.  That is when I started beefing up protecting my entire family.  I know that we can’t live in a bubble but I’ve been making it a point to do my best to follow the Healthing tips to not only clean my house but kill the germs. I have been especially focusing on the germs that live on commonly touched places like door handles and light switches.  I’ve been using Lysol spray and Lysol wipes to wipe down these especially germy surfaces.  I love that Lysol also has a family friendly cleaner called Lysol Power and Free that cleans and disinfects with the power of hydrogen peroxide so it is powerful without the harshness of bleach.  I have also been reminding my children about proper hygiene habits like washing their hands often, especially before meals. Lysol touch-free antibacterial soap dispensers are especially great at cutting down on the spread of germs.  Since you don’t have to touch the dispenser to get soap your are removing germs when you wash instead of picking up new germs from the soap pump.  Since I really started cracking down on all of our habits and following the Healthing tips, I am happy to report that we have stayed much healthier over the last few months.
For LYSOL, Healthing goes beyond its products to provide the education and motivation to keep a healthy home and family.  They also reach out the to community in many ways.  These include:

Connecting with 65,000 schools to promote healthy habits and good hygiene.
Providing educational programs that reach 50 percent of new moms with health and wellness related to caring for their newborns.
Working with trusted third-party organizations to promote the ideas that Healthing embodies, which include the National PTA, the Global Hygiene Council and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, to name a few.

To help spread the word about Healthing, LYSOL and Giuliana Rancic (I just love her!) have joined together to visit YMCAs in select areas the country to demonstrate Healthing in action.  At each YMCA location, LYSOL will provide attendees with hands-on education about the products and steps required to practice improved hygiene habits in their own home, while making the idea fun and relatable to kids. LYSOL will also provide educational information and disinfecting products to the local YMCAs, along with the donation of a one-year membership to a deserving family.  Check with your local YMCA to see if they are scheduled to be a part of a Healthing event.

It’s Spring Cleaning time in many homes across the country.  While cleaning and de-cluttering is important, don’t forget to also disinfect your home as well.  Lysol’s products are centered on killing 99.9 percent of germs and provide solutions that help promote good hygiene and disinfection.   Check out Lysol’s Healthing Tips below to help you keep your family healthy.
LYSOL Healthing Tips
~Don’t let spring cleaning overwhelm you – take it one room at a time and stock up on products that will help you to get the job done effectively, including LYSOL® products, paper towels, sponges, and trash bags.
~Know the difference between cleaning and disinfecting! Both are important components of the Healthing process and LYSOL® has products that can help with all related tasks. While cleaning and organizing is certainly important, killing germs on commonly touched surfaces can lower the risk of spreading bacteria and viruses between members of the family.
~Start with the basics – wipe down easy to reach surfaces and then move onto the little nooks and crannies.
~Remember to dust around wall art, photographs and woodwork.
~Use a disinfectant product, like LYSOL® Disinfecting Wipes, to help ensure you’re killing germs as you clean, and think beyond the usual places. Be sure to clean even the smallest surfaces, such as light switches.
~Don’t forget to disinfect places that you don’t see or think about often, like the door knobs, cabinet handles or sink drains.
~Make it a family activity and tailor tasks to specific age groups.  Give younger children simpler, one-step tasks like dusting or picking toys up off the floor, and save the more complex jobs, such as vacuuming, scrubbing, and disinfecting for older members of the family.
~Remember to practice proper hand washing as well after you clean, either with soap and water for 20 seconds or a hand sanitizer. Hand washing is the single most important thing you can do to prevent illness, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
