As a child, I’m sorry to say that I probably didn’t appreciate my mother as much as I should have done. But now that I am a parent myself, I realize just how much my mom did for me while I was growing up.

As a mommy to two beautiful girls, I now understand just how much my parents, especially my mother, did for me. We might fight and disagree with our moms, but we know that deep down, they only want what’s best for us.

Our moms are there to support us through every stage of life and deserve so much more than what they get in return. Mother’s Day may have been and gone, but you don’t need a day to show your mom how much you love her. You can show your mom how much you care for her and appreciate what she has done for you, any day of the year.

Here are my favorite ideas for showing your mom just how amazing she is:

1. Cook her brunch

To you, your mom probably is the best cook in the world, but don’t let that put you off. You will be surprised by just how much your mom will appreciate the gesture of you cooking brunch for her. Showing your mom that you love her doesn’t have to include buying her anything, cute gestures like cooking for her, are perfect.

If you have your own family and home, then your mom most probably doesn’t live with you. However, you can always invite her over to your house or go and visit her to make her brunch.

2. Make her a scrapbook

I love doing anything creative, so giving my mom a handmade scrapbook is one of my absolute favorite ways to show her that I care.

Root through all your old photographs (and your mom’s too) and start filling up a scrapbook with small snippets of happy memories. Don’t just randomly stick photos into the scrapbook, organize them into chronological order and then stick them down. As well as adding old photos to the album, you could also include collages of old letters, stickers and anything else that holds any sentimental value.

It might not cost much to make, but making a scrapbook for your mom is the perfect way to show her how much you care.

3. Take her on a walk

Invite your mom to go for a lovely long walk alone with you. Perhaps you could pick a walking route that has happy memories or is somewhere she used to take you as a child?

While you walk, talk about your hopes and dreams for the future, your memories from your childhood and have a heart to heart about all the good times you have had. It might not be like giving your mom a gift, but going on a walk just the two of you is a lovely and intimate way to show her how much you care.

4. Go for afternoon tea

Surprise your mom with a delicious afternoon tea, complete with crustless sandwiches, mini cakes, scones, and lashings of jam and cream. Or, if afternoon tea isn’t your mom’s kind of thing, take her to her favorite cafe, instead.

Planning an afternoon at your mom’s favorite cafe, will allow the two of you to spend some quality time together. And all while bonding over a delicious piece of cake.

5. Send her flowers

Sending your mom a bunch of flowers is the perfect way to show her that you care about her, even if you can’t be with her. Think about your mom’s favorite flowers and then have a look online and choose the perfect bouquet to send to her.

To keep her guessing as to who the flowers are from, you could look at sending flowers anonymously and then following up with a card or phone call. Every mom loves receiving flowers, so why not brighten up her day by sending her a beautiful bouquet?

6. Bake her cookies

Everyone loves cookies, especially moms. Bake and ice your mom a dozen of her favorite cookies and pop them in a cute glass jar with a message attached to it.

The best cookies are traditional chocolate chip, banana and pecan and double caramel – you can find the recipes for all of these online. If you decide to ice your cookies, consider writing Love Heart style slogans on each one. This is a fun way to tell your mom just how much you love and care about her.

7. Pay for her to be pampered

The perfect mother-daughter day out is a pamper day. Book yourself and your mom in for a pamper or spa day at your local beauty parlour or spa.

Spending the day relaxing with your mom while the two of you are pampered from head to toe is a fantastic way to bond. As you relax and unwind, you can share all those funny memories you have from your childhood with her and tell her just how much she means to you.

If you don’t feel like a day of being pampered is enough, why not book the two of you on a spa weekend break? This will give you time to relax properly and spend a couple of days together, reminiscing about old times.

8. Order a beauty basket for her

If you don’t live close enough to go to a spa, why not order her a beauty basket instead?

Create a customized pamper basket full of all your mom’s favorite beauty products. Things like makeup, moisturizer, hair care products, exfoliator, and luxury bubble bath, should be included. To make the beauty basket extra special, don’t forget to add a cute gift card from you and, of course, a nice bottle of champagne.

It’s all too easy to forget to thank our moms for everything that they do for us. If you haven’t thanked your mom for all the help she’s given you over the years, make sure that you do, because your mom really is a special lady.
